#but since i'm self-employed my taxes are a bitch

I've said it before, I'll say it again:
FreeTaxUSA. You will have to pay about $15 to file state taxes electronically. And that is it. Federal is always free, they have links directly to the IRS website to explain things that may be confusing, they walk you through everything fairly clearly, and if you're confused you can pay for premium (which is I think $15 as well?) to get a real person to help explain things to you more clearly.
I file Schedule C every year and have done so since about 2013, and FreeTaxUSA is by *far* my favourite tax prep software. A couple years ago I cheated on them with H&R Block and I still regret that.
#i have shockingly strong opinions about my tax prep software#but since i'm self-employed my taxes are a bitch#and freetaxusa makes the process as painless as possible by getting out of my way but handing me the forms i need#they can't calculate my estimated taxes for me but i do that every so often myself following IRS worksheets#anyway. don't be a chump. turbotax and h&r block want to fleece you#freetaxusa will not

Hi Bitches!! I'm a recent college graduate and I've decided I want to pursue freelance graphic design since that's my passion and I'm committed to at least trying it out. I'm still a dependent on my mom's taxes though, how soon should I look into doing self-employed taxes?
Technically, as soon as you make a single dollar, you should be filing taxes yourself. Even high school students with summer jobs have to file taxes, so you should too.
Unofficially... baby, you know we’re all about making freelance money under the table. If your clients don’t declare the money they spent on you, then there is very little the IRS can do to track down your income. They’re relying on you to declare it yourself.
