I can say though that I'm catching up to pd rn and today was the first time in history that dakota genuinely made me angry. I was so fucking peeved listening to him moralize all over everyone. like enough so to, in the moment, wish to god bizly would just find a way to put him in the situation he is SO SURE is completely black and white asa fucking p. kill this person or this person kills tide. you have seconds to act. you cannot think of any way to stop them that is not lethal in small amount of time you know you are limited to and if you don't do anything the evil tide-killing villain whose life you're so worried about will take away the life of your dad for ever. and that's not even the scale they're talking about—they're talking about a few people for so many lives. like obviously I don't wish that on him and obviously I don't think killing people is okay but it is so frustrating listening to dakota tell vyncent that what no he's not thinking in black and white how is this black and white and Also the thing vyncent just explained to him IS thinking in black and white so he has no point and like. now I'm listening to the rolled and grizzly is talking about it and it's making me mad again lmfao
like "dakota just wants someone to give him a good answer for killing people and no one really does" ?????? you're the one making it impossible for people to get through to him. vyncent laid out a reasonably phrased, genuine, working argument this episode, using an example that he is clearly very emotionally invested in, with the specific intention of explaining his thought process to dakota rather than shouting at him like I would've at that point, and dakota was like oh so now you're thinking in black and white too huh! and vyncent immediately realized like. he doesn't care. he quit trying immediately after that, like IMMEDIATELY, because dakota, instead of working with him and explaining why he didn't understand, just told him his point didn't exist. there was no empathy for what vyncent has experienced in the past few days at all. grizz lee plays can say "I want to save people not kill people" in the dakota voice in various phrasings and various contexts as many times as he wants and it won't make those things always be mutually exclusive. it doesn't mean you can spit out platitudes at your friends and brush off the grey that they point out to you in good faith while they do the exhausting work of slogging through these moral dilemmas.
idk I'm just hoping dakota's aggressively categorical moral stances, in the long run, resolve in a way that is kind and understanding of vyncent's feelings and just other people's feelings and perspectives in general. dakota seems to answer to his own idea of how the world works before he answers to anyone who's in it, and it worries me
