with the obvious caveat that everyone is entitled to their own feelings about it -
i don't think connor and his wife's explanation for why they wanted to ask buck to be their donor, or buck's decision to say yes to that big decision is bad writing. It feels like deliberately showcasing that a) these people are feeling a bit desperate, and without being cruel, connor might know best how to appeal to buck. he and his wife clearly have a reason for going to a guy a connor hasn't seen in three years (pandemic or no, pretty wild) for something so personal, and not just going to a sperm bank (financial? moral? who knows)
buck saying yes 'absolutely' tracks with where he's at right now. he's a giver, and been known to think he's doing the right thing when it's totally the wrong thing for him. telling your girlfriend you love them and later asking them to move in is totally normal and great - if that's how you really feel and what you actually want, which it wasn't for him.
I don't think this is going to work out for him - I think he's going to be disqualified somehow, but the point of it (like the point of him kissing lucy, a plot point that personally worried me until I saw what it was actually in service of) is probably to be a catalyst for either a breakdown or a breakthrough on his self-worth, his life, who values him for more than the sum of his parts.
but i guess we'll see
#i'm a buddie cynic i don't believe it will happen this season#but at the same time i cannot picture where else they're going with this that will be in any way meaningful#introducing some rando new love interest isnt going to feel different or like growth or a breakthrough#but recognising the love you already have in front of you?? that's growth.gif#so i guess i hope i'm very much proven wrong#buck x eddie#911#evan buckley
