think the reason i dont write much with monster's ensemble cast is probably that because i read tenma the way i do (transfeminine), the concept of them remaining on friendly terms with a fair amount of people who have deliberately tried to betray, capture or even kill them for their own benefit becomes massively depressing, moreso than it already is if you read them as cis

#no wonder they ran off to join the MSF immediately postcanon but idt thats good for their mental health either honestly #they'll just be retraumatizing themself #but on paper the deeds of everyone theyre on vaguely friendly terms with by the end of the story... it's bad. it's really bad #ex-cop who went insane pursuing them who is now teaching more cops. ex-fiance who tried to kill them twice #college friend who tried to profit off turning them in and had a change of heart only at the last minute. who is a psychiatrist no less #all of whom are frankly racist to tenma in various ways #it says a lot that only grimmer (outright says he knows what it's like to pin false accusations on people) and heckel (thief and coward)#come out on top here wrt Not Betraying Tenma #i get that part of the nature of monster's plot is that tenma ends up right back where they started #but goddamn i hope they can still make some better friends 😭maybe they can be friends with nina's classmates idk #lotte and karl would probably love them if they took the time to get to know each other #personal #monster #obligatory I Have Memory Issues card so if i overlooked something here that is why
