zofeia & lae'zel are really close friends, both protective of each other in their own right (lae physically so, zofeia emotionally so... not that she'd ever tell lae, of course). even though zofeia is sometimes a little bit soft to the point that it annoys lae'zel. only a little bit, though.

so i think, after everything with vlaakith and the crèche, zofeia frequently makes a habit of going to lae'zel to check on her. at first she's blunt about it, asking "are you okay?" to her face, which obviously earns her some hissing and spitting in response. so she learns to be discreet about it, and even though lae'zel catches on, she's more receptive to it. doesn't have to talk about her feelings that way.

it results in her setting up her tent close to zofeia's, next to it if she's quick enough. making a point of sitting closer to her, but not directly beside her, than the others when they're around the campfire together. i think it's as much vulnerability as lae'zel is willing to show, admitting to herself that zofeia is her friend in what capacity she can admit that, can allow herself to have a friend.
