you'd think given that the characters cannot fucking afford to buy food half the time it'd be challenging to come up with canon-compliant feedism plots about them but it's actually really really easy because every member of the ichinomiya household would sell their soul for a single corn chip

it's left ambiguous (as of vol09 at least) how consensual the relationship was between haruka rin and fuji but honestly as far as I'm concerned like. when she named him and then immediately kissed him without even checking the vibe first, that kinda set the tone!! it doesn't really matter how much he consented bc I don't think she even considered the possibility of him refusing her

idk yet my thoughts on whether him being all "nooo I can't fall for you you're a human and I'm a tengu it's Doomed" was due to him actually developing feelings for her or him just trying to let her down easy (which failed if so lmao) but I kind of think he didn't really process how unhealthy the situation is while he was in it. and I think that's part of why he was so angry when he got his memories back, it wasn't just about the final betrayal of her sealing him in that boulder, it was the ongoing betrayal of his autonomy!! and he would never have questioned their relationship but now he has something to compare it to!!

I also think getting those memories back gave him some fears about his relationship with kantarou at first- and kantarou unknowingly dispelling those fears made such a big change in haruka and that's when he started acting differently (actually expressing affection towards kan, which was great, and then acting more obedient toward him, which set off kan's guilt and led to That Fight)

but like honestly I talk mad shit about how unhealthy harukan is (it is) (that's why it's a fun and cool ship) but fuji set the bar pretty low tbh... like at least kan actually cared about having haruka's friendship!!! even if he very clearly wants more he doesn't just Take what he wants from haruka (in that regard, he's a dick in other ways lol) and I think that's honestly a huge deal for haruka and a big part of why he's able to let himself fall for kan despite having #trauma

(on that note...the scene where kan asks why haruka always protects him or whatever and haruka says "because we're friends right?" and kan looks disappointed...hooo boy. you finally got what you said you wanted!!! but you can't even let yourself be happy about it because you know you want more!!)

(ALSO ALSO FUCK. the fact that fuji sealed him without cancelling his name contract. and kantarou names him without having any knowledge of his existing name contract or the damaging effect that overlapping name contracts would have on haruka. there's something really poetic there about baggage and trauma that I don't have the ability to articulate right now!!)
