Ah. So if you give to charity, but you don't earn enough to pay taxes, you don't get any of that 'back' - because you pay nothing to deduct it from. So.... if you can't afford to give to charity regularly, you really shouldn't do that. 😂

I know this all probably seems... obvious. But given I haven't had stable work for a long time I'm still figuring these things out 😩

#it wasnt a huge amount but it did shave a bit off what i needed every month 😩#whoops #oh well live and learn as they say #skip talks #this loops into a wider issue of unemployment feeling like you're infantilised by the system #because you feel too ashamed at being unemployed to ask people how something works #and it's just assumed that you'll learn all this stuff by getting employed at 16 #instead of being taught anything about taxes in school so everyone understands how it works #given how important capitalism is you'd think that would be a sensible thing to do #but nope we're running on assumptions and vibes baby!
