honestly considering giving up HSR. i don't really want to but with the combination on the last 5 patches being pretty disappointing story wise, the powercreep being so bad characters can't even last from 2.0 from 2.7 before becoming irrelevant, and the endgame modes not really being fun, I don't really know that I can stick with it.

The first two Penacony patches were my absolute favorite story wise. But the final two patches were such a letdown. The fact that they really pulled the "it's all been a dream all along" shtick was pretty unbelievable. Plus the cop out of Firefly's "three deaths" and Death and the Dreamflux reef being so.. meh when they had insane potential. I feel like Sunday really suffered from poor writing as well, with his Charmony Bird story literally becoming a meme in the fandom due to him just repeating it over and over again like it was some grand philosophical question when it was kind of lame to begin with. And finally all the "morally grey" characters (Acheron, Black Swan, Gallagher, Boothill) all turn out to be 100% good in the end feels like way too much of a cop out.

The two Luofu patches were decent storywise but again suffered from the we-can't-actually-let-characters-die problem resulting in Hoolay being far less intimidating as a villain. He just lets Jiaoqiu live... because? Dude literally got eaten by a giant wolf and walks away having just lost his eyesight. He should be dead.

The most recent patch had some interesting story beats and I loved the Boothill/Robin interactions but the forced memes were just too much and it dragged on too long.

IDK I'll hold out and play the upcoming patch to see if they can make Sunday interesting to me again. The powercreep issue has practically guaranteed I won't spend on the game again (and I used to buy the monthly pass every month). If Hoyoverse wants to keep making each new character more OP than the last that's fine, but I won't be spending any money on characters that will be made irrelevant in 5 patches.
