i feel like our varying ability to understand and speak english + popular local perception of minecraft as a game + the way varying class and geography incluences our use of social media affects knowledge of local mc streamers, so the sentiment is super felt.

in my experience, the mcyt i knew well back in the early 2010s was simply american youtuber captainsparklez, and i didn't even watch him for minecraft then. the resurgence during the pandemic (via smplive and dsmp) may have brought new viewers in but its still mostly english speaking i guess??? other regional languages are listed in the qlobal translator but to what end will they be used? it'll really depend on who gets invited i suppose. (i was born in negros but i moved to south luzon (and moved around a lot there) + grew up considerably upper-middle class so i've only been able to speak the casual, relatively slang-filled tagalog one learns via private catholic schooling. this is a very specific experience that is only reflected by specific pinoy users so like 😞 idk)

i know we have big local streamers but like some folks in the tags mentioned they play games that are competitive (like, idk, genshin and similar anime-based games and fps games in the vein of valorant) which in turn reflects different audiences that i feel have their own biases regarding minecraft streaming and mcrp

is it fucked up that as a filipino i dont know any filipino mc streamers or filipino streamers in general? like the ones who actually stream in tagalog/bisaya/ilocano/ilonggo/whatever dialect???

like im so envious of the ppl who are like "so and so was my childhood im excited to see them in qsmp" and here i am like "wow filipino streamers huh can't wait to meet them ^_^"
