i think the issue is. the romance pacing (at least for davrin) is flirt -> flirt -> flirt -> flirt -> flirt -> lock in with a peck on the lips -> picnic scene that's mostly identical to the platonic version -> -> -> (these arrows represent 15-30 hours of gameplay depending on whether you prioritised his quests) -> argument about how much he likes you but he can't commit because he thinks he's about to die -> potential death / 30 second sex scene -> -> final battle talk (i love you let's spend the rest of our lives together) -> end slide ambiguous line about enduring love

#veilguard spoilers #ofc casual dating -> i love you lets spend the rest of our lives together right before the final battle is classic dragon age #but it still feels weird for davrin. it feels like a reaction to avoiding his death flag but HE shouldn't know that #what he actually knows is he wasnt put in a dangerous situation that could have resulted in his death lol? so nothing has been proven #i mean there are definitely worse romance conclusions. i will never be over how dirty they did dorian in trespasser lol #but stilllll...they hyped up the romances for this game!!! da2 did better and that game was made in 10 minutes #also the kiss was so? i think actually it would've been interesting if davrin explicitly wasn't able to follow through on the #sexually charged flirting and showed something more hesitant and gentle when you actually start getting together because #he's got this whole complex about how he's going to hurt you by dying badly soon. but i dont think that was intentional #and if it was it was very badly conveyed
