underrated horrendous counterfactual is jorge taking that ducati offer for 2010 and getting paid a bazillion times more than literal world champion casey. unfortunately the ducati wasn't competitive enough for this to really be as awful as it could have otherwise been, but if it HAD been and jorge HAD been able to ride that ducati reasonably well to be at least sorta competitive... that had the potential to go nuclear wasteland levels of toxicity

#like this was a relatively near miss. it was reported as basically a done deal by Reputable Sources in 2009 #jorge got very very close to making the move because he felt more wanted by ducati (in essence)#and ducati was courting jorge aggressively while casey was off ill which casey was obviously thrilled by #i was going through the asks i haven't answered yet and there's one about casey/jorge & one about casey/jorge/dani that i do want to get to #i might just do the casey/jorge one first because there's really just like. three quotes i personally find hilarious #//#brr brr #heretic tag #spec tag #i mean the way this counterfactual shakes out is unfortunately probably quite boring #casey dunks some obscene margins on jorge's ass in 2010 and is even more likely to fuck off to honda #they still manage to burn their relationship beyond repair in that one season but not in a dramatically satisfying way #one of valentino or dani win the 2010 title depending on how valentino's shoulder holds up (IF the leg break doesn't happen)#and then jorge is just stuck in the canon!vale ducati seat of doom until whenever his contract runs out #but in an alternate universe where ducati didn't suck...
