Make sure you have all you licenses, but also check and plan your route to account for trainer help programs!! The farm I work at does WAY more than just provide a berry field!!!
We got a ton of extra water that we can and will share with anybody who needs it, as well as extra medical supplies that you can just. Take. They cost like 50 poké I'm serious they're practically free. On purpose. Because we want trainers to be prepared in less populated areas. Get your licenses and check your routes, peeps :)
To Trainers who are expecting on their journey to spend significant time out in the wilderness: Please remember to account for your supplies. Your training license is not a hunting license. If you intend to replenish your food supplies in the wild by hunting, you will need to have a proper license for it, and be sure to follow the restrictions and guidelines for what Pokemon can be hunted, and in which seasons.
In emergency situations, lenience will be granted, such as if a natural disaster ruins your food supplies, but if it is a consistent problem, negligence in your own planning can result in your Trainer license being taken away.
Hunting licenses are not hard to acquire, either. You will need to take written tests as to what is acceptable to hunt in which conditions, the maximum limit you are allowed to hunt per season, and pass safety exams for use of your preferred hunting method (and if it is your Pokemon that do the hunting, proof that they are trained to tell the difference between battling and hunting).
Forage is included as part of your Trainer license, but you must still take care to learn what is safe to eat in the wilderness anyway.
