💄 - Muse A makes a deal with a fae, Muse B, for eternal youth and beauty. However, the price is steep. With Lila as A and Marinette as B?
“Oh aye, I can give you what you want--for a price.” Marinette smiled wryly. Lila huffed. She gestured to the chain pinning the fae down.
“You’re not in a position to make deals.” Lila grinned, thinking she had the fae. It took forever to capture a fae, but once she did, like hell she was going to compromise.
“Ah, but you see, magic doesn’t work that way. You have to give something in order to take.” the fae said vaguely. Lila scowled.
“Fine fine. I’ll give whatever you want. Just give me eternal youth and beauty.” Lila demanded. Marinette eyed her curiously.
“Are you sure? Perhaps you want to hear the deal before accepting.” Marinette advised. Lila was really starting to get annoyed with this fairy.
“I don’t care! Nothing is too pricy! I’m rich! Take all the money you want!” Lila snarled. Marinette blinked before an eerie smile slowly bloomed on her face.
“If you’re willing to pay the price, then you shall have your wish.” Marinette promised. She waved a hand and Lila felt a flow of magic overtake her. She examined herself--she was young again! Her hair was vibrant and beautiful once more, her skin smooth and without wrinkles, and her body in perfect shape! “Remember, you cannot undo once the price has been paid.” Marinette warned.
“Yeah yeah, whatever! Well, I’m off to get the boy of my dreams!” Lila said cheerily, beginning to walk away. A chain rattling caught her attention.
“Aren’t you forgetting something?” Marinette asked, narrowing her eyes. Lila smirked, flipping some hair.
“Oh it’s just some iron. Surely, a powerful fae can get out of that.” Lila was perky, waving her goodbye, laughing at the trapped fairy’s predicament. Marinette glared, telling herself to calm down. Her price was fair, and it would be fulfilled, and when it happened, Marinette would be sure to enjoy it.
Settling against the tree, Marinette closed her eyes, humming to herself to pass the time. Humming turned into singing, and her voice enticed many of the woodland creatures to her side to listen. Marinette smiled, happy for the company, and continued her song.
-----
“Woah Plagg! Halt!” Prince Adrien ordered, his ears picking up at a lovely sound. Him and his horse Plagg paused, listening to the beautiful voice coming from the woods. It was such a sweet song. Adrien felt compelled to find who was singing. He ushered his horse into the woods, and surprisingly, Plagg wasn’t stubborn. It seemed the woman’s voice had a calming affect on his horse as well.
He came across a clearing where the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen had her ankle chained and tied around a tree. His heart lurched, anger filling him. Who would do that to someone? He came into the clearing, calling to the siren.
“Excuse me, Miss? Are you all right?” the prince asked concerned. She was chained to a tree after all. The woman startled, blushing that she had been caught singing, and Adrien found her utterly adorable. “Sorry! I heard your lovely singing and came to investigate but it appears you may need some help.” Adrien chuckled lightly.
The blue haired woman smirked, and Adrien felt his heart skip a beat. She was stunning before but her confident had him spellbound.
“Oh aye, it appears I do need some assistance. Perhaps you could find a knight in shining armor to cut this chain?” she teased. Adrien grinned, dismounting Plagg.
“Will a prince suffice?” he asked, gesturing to his sword. The woman laughed, the sound reminding Adrien of pleasant bells.
“I suppose. Does the prince know swordplay or is it for show?” she countered sassily.
“I’ll have you know I know a lot of sword play.” Adrien retorted teasingly. The woman’s eyes glinted.
“Yes yes--I’m sure with your lovers you do, but can you use an actual sword?” she asked with a coy grin and Adrien choked on his laughter, blushing hotly. Not only was she beautiful but she had a sense of humor as well! He could feel his heart slipping away into her hands.
“That kind of language is very unladylike.” Adrien scolded playfully, cutting her free. His sword was made of the strongest steel, and could cut through iron like it was paper. The woman breathed a sigh in relief, her ankle coming free. Adrien frowned at the burned skin on her ankle. He knelt down to her, examining the skin.
“This will need some care. Come with me to the palace, I’ll take care of you.” Adrien promised kindly. He carried the woman to Plagg, helping her sit on the saddle, getting on after her, holding her small frame to his chest. He tried to hold down his blush at their close proximity, but it was no use.
“Thank you, young prince. Your kindness to this young maiden will be rewarded.” the woman said gently. Adrien smiled.
“I’ll settle for your name, if that is alright.” Adrien whispered softly in her ear. The woman shivered in delight--it filled Adrien with elation.
“My name is Marinette, young prince, and you have no idea how happy you have made me with your rescue.” Marinette said, grinning mysteriously.
------------------
Lila held the piece of paper in her hands, her whole body trembling in rage. She glared down at the ink like it was poisonous to her, and it was--to her heart.
“You are hereby invited to the wedding of Prince Adrien Agreste and his bride Marinette! Ugh!” she threw the paper into the fire angrily. She yanked at her hair. “I become young again and he finds a tart to love! No! I will go and charm him with my beauty! He will surely leave his bride once he sees me at the wedding!” Lila smirked maliciously. She couldn’t wait to see the ugly girl crying as she swept Adrien away.
---------------
It was the day of the wedding and Lila dressed her best. She had a gown tailored specifically for the event--the best money could buy. When she had arrived at the reception ball, she was prepared to woo Adrien and have him rethink his marriage. However, it was her that was surprised.
“Hello! Lila, is it? My wife Marinette said you were a friend of hers!” Prince Adrien was positively beaming as he said the words ‘my wife’. His gaze was completely ensnared by that traitorous fae, whom she now knew her name. Marinette was smiling sweetly to Lila, but Lila was no fool. She could see clearly the smug glint in Marinette’s eyes. It made her angrier.
“Yes, if it wasn’t for her, I would have never met you, My love.” Marinette said, giving her an adoring smile. Adrien’s eyes widened, as if he realized something, and gave Lila a glare. He clutched Marinette closer to him, as if trying to protect her from Lila. Lila wanted to scoff--it should be her protecting him from Marinette!
Adrien opened his mouth, possibly about to yell at her, but Marinette easily soothed him. He turned to her questioningly.
“Don’t worry, Darling. I’m a big girl. Why don’t you leave us to chat for a bit?” Marinette persuaded him. He looked unsure, not wanting to leave his wife with the person who chained her to a tree, but Marinette gave him a bright smile, and he felt relief.
“I’ll keep an eye on you.” he murmured to Marinette, stroking her cheek tenderly. It made Lila want to hurl.
“I know you will.” Marinette said with confidence. The Prince glared at Lila one last time before leaving, and now they were alone. Lila’s fists clenched at her sides. She was very tempted to slap the fae.
“What do you think you’re doing here?!” Lila harshly whispered. Marinette gave a saccharine smile--its sweetness wanting to make Lila sick.
“Claiming my price. Don’t you remember? You cannot gain something without taking something away.” Marinette reminded the girl.
“I thought you meant money!” Lila exclaimed frustrated.
“I never said I would take money for the price. You just assumed and did not ask for details, which I warned you against doing.” Marinette pointed out casually, still smiling.
“So what? Adrien will grow old and die! As for me, I’ll find someone else to love!” Lila smirked in victory, but she grew wary when Marinette’s smile widened.
“Ah you see, you will never move on from Adrien. You will be forced to watch him love me until the end of time.” Marinette revealed. Lila gaped.
“W-what?”
“Adrien freed me without asking anything in return. I rewarded him with the powers of fae--he will live long as young and beautiful as you and I will--and you, Lila, your price is that you will love only him, and forever have to watch him never be yours.” Marinette explained nonchalantly, as if she was talking about the weather. Lila felt her whole world shattering around her. She was filled with white hot fury. She was about to grab Marinette, but the fae wagged her finger teasingly. “Ah! I wouldn’t do that! My husband knows who you truly are now, and if you lay one hand on me, he will not hesitate to throw you in the darkest dungeon where you’ll never see the light of day again.”
Lila’s lips quivered as she shook from anger and anguish. She fell to the floor on her knees before Marinette, and many came to them in concern. Marinette waved it off. “Oh no, she’s just not feeling well. Do you mind getting someone to escort her out? I would, but our dear Prince looks like he is about to have a heart attack over there. Excuse me.” Marinette bid Lila farewell as a guard helped the woman to her feet. All Lila could do was stare heartbroken as Marinette was swept up into Adrien’s arms.
And she would have to watch Adrien love Marinette for eternity.
