no i totally agree 100%. like i can understand why the writers felt like haruka would leave Morning Glory at the start of y6 considering 1. she believes her presence is jeopardizing everyone else's future 2. her only parental figures have both walked out on her in times of crisis because they believed it to be best for her (yumi placing her at Sunflower Orphanage thinking it would somehow hide her from assassins/kiryu leaving Morning Glory in y5 to obfuscate the orphanage's connection to a legendary yakuza) so like. who can blame a 16 year old for following in the footsteps of both of her parents especially after the trauma of her mentor being murdered and her dad being locked up... although if i was her i woulda just called akiyama or horie (srsly what happened to him) like hey do u know a place where i can lie low for a couple of months. but what do i know lol
tbh i could've even forgiven rgg studios for immediately making her a mom even though imo it was like can women only be children hostesses mothers or dead to these writers 🙄 but whatever teenage pregnancy happens she was a young woman navigating life by herself and hasn't had a long term parental figure in her life since she was like 15 she was vulnerable and had a moment of weakness blah blah blahhhhh (<- me imagining dudebro's arguments defending this writing decision)..... okay i GUESS i can accept her getting pregnant if i absolutely have to. but forcing her into a coma for the WHOLE GAME was just toooooooo much. rgg was like what should we put kiryu through for our last game with him... oh! how about we traumatize haruka AGAIN! like mf give me and this girlie a break 😭 tbh the plot of the game didn't even need to change (pretty sure at least. also in the "replayed every game except 6" club and im a little fuzzy on the details...) i think kiryu still would've gone to find the dad regardless of whether haruka wants him to or not, just look at their conversation in y5 where haruka begs him to stay at Morning Glory. kiryu will follow his sense of justice and honor even at the cost of his most important relationships, and i do believe he truly thinks it's yuta's duty to step up and be a father to haruto (despite kiryu himself running away from fatherhood every chance he gets but 😗 that's none of my business...) even if haruka didn't want yuta around.
and let's be real being a househusband is probably the best career opportunity yuta's ever gonna get lmao. i get that even a badass girlboss like haruka needs time to heal from trauma and can value family above all else but i REFUSE to accept that haruka is just gonna sit her ass in Morning Glory looking after kids for the rest of her life (no shade to stay at home parents and ppl who run orphanages xoxo). like u said no way would a girl who went to kamurocho by herself at 9 to look for her mom, at 13 look for a job at the slightest hint of money trouble, and at 15 leave home to be an idol to get a bag big enough to secure everyone else's future be a SAHM forever. she might enjoy domestic life for a bit but i know as soon as everyone (sans haruto) is graduated from high school at the latest she's getting her ass back out there and i think being a detective for be a great fit for her (or whatever else she wants to do. feminism win <3). anyways #giveharukaagun #letharukatigerdropmfs #harukasologamewhere
@balfiere IDK WHY BUT YOUR ASK BOX DESPISES ME RN anyway RE: Let Haruka be a detective tags.
HONESTLY THO Detective Haruka would’ve been AWESOME. Or something where she’s doing what she WANTS. I don’t understand why they made the decisions they did for her character in Yakuza 6 but I-
Yakuza 6 is far from my favourite in the series (and the only one I’ve yet to replay) and I don’t think there is anything WRONG with Haruka growing up, going out on her own and becoming a mum all that but it’s like ?? She’s 19? Let her live! (Not that there’s anything wrong with this as a storyline) And it’s not even that odd for her to do things she wouldn’t normally do since she’s been all but completely abandoned (some takes say Haruka deserves what she got for leaving her idol career and letting the world know about Kiryu but ?? SHE WAS SIXTEEN? AT THE TIME?) ‘Oh she deserves the media dragging her through the mud she did that to herself’ because a sixteen year old girl with her father figure in jail YET AGAIN and her most previous mentor MURDERED is really in the right of mind eh?
ANYWAY.
But it feels like with Haruto, Yuta etc the entire yakuza six NARRATIVE punishes her too? What we know of Haruka is a furious, loving (and unfortunately extremely parentified) child who DID NOT HESITATE FOR ONE SINGLE SECOND to SLAP a GROWN MAN threatening her HOME at 12 years old. She left her orphanage at NINE BY HERSELF just to find her MOTHER. BY! HERSELF!
(She could’ve also wiped the floor with T-Set in Yakuza 5 but I understand why she was behaving) the girl is a bloody FIRECRACKER and Yakuza 6 comes along like “Anyway yeah your independence, incredibly protective nature, skills and loving genuine personality is actually a bad thing you naughty girl” Here’s a kid and a coma now go look after the orphanage for the rest of your life. Like ???????
THIS HAS GONE NOWHERE but.
HERE’S MY IDEA
Househusband Yuta-Detective Haruka.
…this went a whole lot of nowhere but OK.
(Also she should’ve been allowed to tiger drop mooks) I know RGG doesn’t like it but Haruka can be cute AND beat up street thugs if she wants okay I support her.
#melissa replies#yakuza#before the y8/gaiden trailers i probably would've preferred if rgg left the kiryu saga as is and focused solely on ichiban moving forward#but if they're committed to undoing the emotional impact of y6's ending by continuously bringing kiryu back from the dead#they could at least do me a solid and clean up some of y6's other writing missteps along the way lol
