Soooo....
Turnabout Storyteller.
I had already vaguely known about Uendo having DID due to me not necessarily avoiding spoilers when reading fanfic, but...
I have so many thoughts on this as someone who HAS the disorder they're representing here.
Like, one, I definitely appreciated the way they revealed it -- during a Mood Matrix session. Having multiple sets of feelings and having them switch on and off like that is def a thing. I've/we've experienced that before.
But also -- before that, when Uendo was switching between his "characters" and everyone thought he was just putting on a performance? Yeah, see. They did that really well considering that like -- yes, the way alters hold the body/the face can be really different. They certainly felt like different people, which was really cool to see. I liked the different poses they had because as I played I was like, "Huh... is he the character with DID...? He is, right?"
The thing is, I'm like 80% certain that Uendo is the murderer, and THAT annoys me -- but I'm not done playing through the case, yet. I just started the second half of the trial, so.... I'll comment as I go.
But if I'm right and Uendo IS the murderer, I'm gonna have to roll my eyes because soooo many pieces of media use my disorder to show HEY SOMEONE WITH THIS COULD BE A KILLER AND NOT KNOWWWWW and I hate that. Because like.... no.
OH THANK GOD. Like 3 seconds into the send half of the trial and it's NOT Uendo. Yay. Yayyyyy. I'm actually really glad they did that subversion of the person-with-DID-is-the-killer trope. Thank fucking GOD.
SIMON GRABBING ATHENA when she starts to doubt she can prove Bucky's innocence is just -- fuck. Okay. Yeah, I see why the fandom loves that particular moment. (I love Simon so much omfg).
Tumblr media
I am honestly loving this case and I actually really like the way they've presented Uendo -- it's simplified a bit for the sake of the audience, but at the same time, switching DO be like that. And you can certainly be co-conscious and share memory.
Like.... that's legitimately how our System works -- there's usually 2-3 of us up front at any given time, with someone generally more forward, while the other(s) listens / watches. Sometimes others push to the front. And there are 4 of us who more or less have access to the continual life happenings even if we don't always recollect specific details (or what we were feeling) later.
Also Owen being a LITTLE makes so much damn sense? Fuck, idk man, I love it. I kinda adore them.
I really really really got weary when Uendo's diagnosis was revealed because, y'know, the whole oh God pls tell me you're not the murderer even if it was kinda looking like you were.
That fucking balloon girl did it, didn't she? Jesus fucking Christ. I love that, but I also hate that. Also it's so unfair they made this chick so goddamned pretty.
Also man can I also say just how like.... they legitimately refer to Owen as a child, and Kisegawa with Ms., and -- that's actually a nice little piece of the writing here. Like... is it absolutely perfect? No. It's not. But let me tell you -- as someone with this disorder? Writing it and showing it for an audience is hard.
That whole, "everyone is unique" thing applies here -- every System is different. They all develop ways of functioning in order to blend in and protect themselves. Uendo may not have the denial bit that comes with this disorder (do you know how many times I find myself asking if I'm sure I'm not faking this thing? do you??? because like, it's a "rare" disorder, right? and was my trauma REALLY bad enough for me to have alters???? etc) -- but considering the confident way he, Patches, and Kisegawa speak about their experience with the disorder, I would imagine they've been in therapy for it for a while, now.
But also -- the three of them not being aware of Owen? Or denying his existence, at least? Well, they were either protecting him because he's so young, or they legitimately did not know since apparently he may only come forward when the body is drunk.
idk I love that Uendo et al was not the killer. Like so much. Thank FUCK.
Also that was a really fun case even if it was like, not entirely relevant to the overall story happening here in SOJ. I definitely enjoyed it.

Idk what to do with this blog/new HL blog & new writing inspo tho? 😅
Verbal ver. Yeah, this is Diia speaking lol.
Written ver. below. Little bit more details.
────────────────────────
I took a tiny break from this account and left discord to semi detox from the internet basically. (They did find something in the brutal medical test I did recently so yeah. A lot has happened. It came positive but I’m not here to discuss my ongoing health struggles)
What I didn’t realize is… this blog caused my depression to seep in more because staying away helped me somewhat & I kind of want to reinvent myself now. I’m someone who’s kinda unforeseeable… messy af, impulsive as I battle both light & dark.
I’ve been going back & forth on whether to delete this blog. This isn’t the first time. For many reasons, one of them being… I shouldn’t have let this blog become too personal? The biggest regret was showing my illnesses. It put me in a vulnerable and even lonelier position. I wish I never did it but I can’t take back those lengthy posts & erase the memory for whoever saw them. Another reason, again, I just feel like a misfit. Then a private reason… very stupid one, has something to do with another user & me actually crying because I felt hurt lol. 🤡 I’m very sensitive with people sadly.
However, I love writing… & I loved making the videos, screenshots, etc. It’s hard when I love something but the fandom, I don’t feel fully welcome in. I can’t shake off my OCD. End up closing myself off more. I do appreciate any kindness that I was shown & I don’t neglect those few moments. A big thanks to those liking the posts I create myself. Esp the fanfics. I’m most happy for that part. 💚
That’s why, I’m slightly unsure what to do. I have another HL blog actually; anonymous for writing. But Idk if some can figure out it’s me…
This week, I got a book (of poems) that inspired me again.
This one actress, writes dark, raw, ugly yet sadly beautiful all at once— really let it out. It’s like repulsive meets pretty in a twisted way. It actually reached my soul & has me writing A LOT atm. Teaching me new words. Rn, I’m working on a HL fic that I’ll consider my best writing in a long time. Her book was dedicated to those who need to be heard. I haven’t finished as I wanna take it slow but it’s been both a painful yet liberating read so far. While I had previously been inspired on here by someone… that... yeah. Not gonna talk about it. But this actress became my muse? Her poeticism is on another level, imo. Her mind reminds me a lot of my own; I can be unapologetically honest. I think that’s why I resonated so deeply with her poems. And she writes it out so well that I just can’t. I’m in love with her writing. New fav writer.
Few of her less heavy/explicit poems:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want to build as a writer & bring back the passion I lost many years ago. I was a writer in 2013–2015, I wrote two stories that got thousands of hits. A third was requested but half way through, I suffered a writer’s block & quit. My ability is not what it was.
So will I just stick to my anon blog? Idk… maybe. I will most likely post all my fanfics on there going forward now. Do I delete this one… or abandon it… just leave all my stuff here… or keep it as a secondary blog…
I just wish I had a do-over with this blog & did things a bit differently.
I had already made this post in advance after 3-4 days of thinking… just logged on now & I didn’t expect anyone to notice or msg me on here. So sorry @ravenwind-75 and @ps-cactus 😅 Thank you for the concern on here. 🫶 I’m ok. Well, I’m doing my best. I just needed little time for myself to handle everything weighing me down.

Top 5-6 WWE wrestling blogs you would recommend and why (optional)?
In no particular order and going by personal preference only.
I love and follow a whole bunch of awesome wrestling blogs and even more awesome human beings, so only giving 5-6 recs is kinda hard. I’m trying to leave the personal relationships out of the way though and go by content (mostly).
I like me some good variety, and that includes WWE, AEW, TNA, NJPW & Indies, but you asked for WWE, so I’ll try to stick to that (a lot of blogs post about a mix of promotions though, fair warning).
Idk if you’re into shipping and art and fanfic or not, so it really depends on preference regarding that. All these people are drama free imo, just very chill if you don’t wanna be subjected to how messy this fandom can get sometimes.
Here we go:
@samijey - beautiful gifs and a really great wrestling/booking mind, smart wrestling takes & opinions, incredible mind blowing writer, first person I followed when I joined the wrestling fandom online (after 15+ years of avoiding it 😂)
@princedevitt - plenty of really awesome gifs (WWE, AEW, TNA etc.)
@mith-gifs-wrestling - even more awesome gifs/gifsets & wrestling meta
As you can probably tell by now I really LOVE good gif sets and wrestling meta/ booking opinions/ wrestling knowledge etc.
@taydaq - THE BEST wrestling artist around (in my humble opinion). Really into old school WWE/WWF, but also posts modern day stuff.
(Honorary mention for @youtappedout & @vanityangel if you’re looking for more awesome wrestling gifs. Imo you can never have enough of those.)
More blogs I enjoy that post wrestling content are @afterdarkprincess @kinardgo @harmshake @thesamoanqueen and many others.
If you want more specific recs (blogs centered around specific wrestlers, writers, artists, meta, live bloggers etc) let me know.
Honestly, it really depends on who/what you’re into aka your favorites and general preferences (+ if you only want wrestling/ WWE content or don’t mind other stuff mixed in there).
I myself enjoy a good eclectic mix of people, content, (differing and oftentimes clashing) opinions and preferences (I know that some of the people I follow hate each other’s guts lol).
It keeps things fresh and interesting though, hence why my blog is a bit of a colorful mix (mess) at times. If I don’t wanna see/ don’t agree with something I blacklist or don’t engage with it.
I’m honestly just really into wrestling and extremely enthusiastic about it. Sure, I have my favs, but I can appreciate (almost) everyone, so yeah. It’s the best and most unique art form to exist and you could never make me hate it.
If you want a wide variety of content these are my top picks and I’m sure I forgot a whole bunch of really awesome blogs and good people (I apologize for that!)
And if y’all have any recommendations for me, please feel free to send them my way (all promotions and styles).
I apologize, this got long and rambly and I talked about myself a lot, but oh well! Hope you’ll find some content you like based on these recs!
Thanks for asking and I hope you have an awesome day/night wherever you are in the world, anon!! 💙

Fanfic 20 questions! I was gonna say 'fuck it I love talking about myself even if nobody tagged me' and then realized @hua-fei-hua already did like. Two weeks ago. Whoops aldsjf I don't check my mentions. ANYWAY THANKS HOMIE
1. How many fics do you have on AO3?
Currently 119. Should be 120 in a week or two
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
361,556 published. We can add another 60k that is written but unpublished for Monoceros Novae, 9k miscellaneous Hearthling notes, 24k unpublished honkai notes and another 50k in my general notes document.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Actively rn, only Genshin and Honkai. I'll write for other stuff when I feel like it.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Missing Person - Hollow Knight, genfic, little ghost and Quirrel - 1500 kudos (this is why small fandoms are the best alsdfj)
I Need to Leave Him Before He Leaves Me - Genshin, Alhaitham/Kaveh - 987 kudos (helped a lot of people think about their autism with this one lmao)
Homeward Bound - Hollow Knight, genfic, little ghost and Quirrel - 757 kudos (Idk why this one blew up. Wasn't that great but I appreciate the attention. Probably people sorting by kudos)
How 4.1 Should've Gone - Genshin, Aether/Lyney kicking Wriothesley's ass - 656 kudos (First and only time rewriting canon. Surprised at how well received it was)
Abusing the World Tree - Genshin, Lumine/Scaramouche - 643 kudos (Yk I used to really hate this fic and I still do, but not as much as I used to. I still think the entire premise is Horror instead of cute, but I think I did good with the prompt. )
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Always. I literally only write fanfic in order to connect with people alsdfj why the fuck wouldn't I take an opportunity to yap. I judge my success as a writer by how I make my readers feel/helping them realize something about themselves/etc and the communication is really fulfilling
I mean sometimes I don't reply if it's literally just like, a heart emoji, which I still appreciate but I don't have a lot to go off of there
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
probably the one where Steven Universe walks off a cliff on accident while he's sad and can't control his fall speed anymore and dies. I was much younger when I wrote it asldfkj.
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
That I'm proud of? No clue. Probably another Steven Universe one where Steven and Connie went to prom.
I will say that A Bard Walks in and Hugs the Bartender is my favorite 'happy' ending fic because of a comment I got on it. It's a story about forgetting details about deceased loved ones and the guilt that comes with that and then comfort that that's a natural part of the process, and someone let me know that they felt so seen. They said the forgetting is a part of grieving that doesn't get addressed enough and it was so nice to see it in writing and I'm like. Pack it up boys we've officially won writing! My writing has fundamentally changed a real life person. I have achieved what I consider success.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Very rarely and usually unintentionally. Had a dude call Arlecchino a 'psychotic bitch' in a comment where they were genuinely trying to praise my writing, but on a fic intended to show her doing her best and I'm like. I don't really have the energy to debate why that was rude and I'm blocking you. Bro if you see this tumblr post and you didn't intend to, like, shit on the entire premise and everything I love about that character, hmu in DMs and we can talk asldfkj. Otherwise please find other authors to read
Otherwise I think I'm secure enough in my interests and unabashedly unashamed of anything Problematique I write that bullies decide to choose better targets?
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes and I've given up writing normal sex. I'm not good at it. I have a weird kind of medical kink where I think the word penis is sexier than cock and, yk, most people would disagree. I'm both better at writing gore and horror that achieves the same kind of intimacy with a slight sexual bend, and I get more fulfillment out of it. Anatomy of a Blade remains one of my proudest works.
Also I prefer writing it as a character study. I love finding jackoff material but I can't write it for shit. Pour one out for the authors doing what I can't asldkjf
10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've ever written?
Nah. The setting is usually so important to my interpretation of a character that I just Can't put them somewhere else. Same with AUs. I'd rather write an original story at that point. I will fantasize about it occasionally tho.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yesn't? I've had a few lines ripped, especially for rarepairs, but I had such an unfortunate thing happen recently asdlkjf. This new author so excitedly asked me if they could use one of my fics for inspiration and I'm like "omg of course!!! I'm so flattered!" because I was! and then when they finished writing it and told me about it I was so excited to read it!!!
and then I did
I'm sitting here like "...Who's gonna tell them that this is actually plagiarism without embarrassing them and completely crushing their motivation to write ever again" asldfkjasdf;l
like OBVIOUSLY they were not trying to steal, because why the fuck would they announce it to me. But also I don't want them to be served a cease and desist later down the line so we had to have a little talk and it's all good now. I'm really excited to see what they write next!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Supposedly! I've had several people ask me if they could and then just. Never followed up aldk;fskj. It's a shame because I'm absolutely fascinated by linguistics and would love to pick their brains about what translation choices they made and why.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Sorta? Ray did one chapter as an epilogue to one of mine, and I think I've worked with Sen a few times on shorter pieces. Otherwise I'm a bit of a selfish writer and a control freak adsljf
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Constantly changing. I'm currently on a Bootheng and Zhongxiao kick, tho once I watch more of Madoka Magica I'm probably gonna lose my mind over Homura/Madoka. Also Adora/Catra as I watch more Shera.
15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Literally too many to list. See question 1 and the 50k words worth of notes
I have so many ideas that I really need to pick and choose what I work on because there literally just isn't enough time in the world - unless I start doing cocaine or something, but even then I think I'd still have the same problem. Join my discord server if you're an adult and wanna hear me whine about it asdlfkj
16. What are your writing strengths?
Fitting body language and other scene description with dialogue. I don't see images in my head and I think in motion a lot, so I think I do a really good job of keeping a scene rolling while people are talking without having to bring everything to a screeching halt to describe, idk, the color of the carpet on the stairs.
Also emotional damage
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Probably longer works? I lose drive to work on anything over 6k words pretty easily and I also struggle with pacing. I'm insisting on finishing Monoceros Novae so it can be my first novel because everyone's first novel sucks ass. I'm getting it out of the way so my original works will hopefully go better asldkfj
Oh. Also what people look like. Fuck you you get a pronoun and maybe a hair color. If Martha Wells can do it with Murderbot, so can I lmao.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Just for the love of God don't put it in italics unless you're making a point that the person using the other language doesn't use it naturally. I'd like to highlight the poem Kupu Rere Ke by Alice Te Punga Somerville for my feelings on it alsdkjf.
Also gonna copy stardustdiving's answer and say that it's great for multilingual characters and places it makes sense, but I personally think it's a little annoying when it's just a shippy pet name to be cute without, like, some kind of basis for it. Notably Childe calling Zhongli Xiansheng. It's fine if he would say that BUT HE WOULDN'T. He'd call him Mr., Sir or Motherfucker Ratbastard Whyaren'tyoudeadyet
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Undertale! Surprised at how well a lot of the fics have held up over the years.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Changes a lot as I develop as a writer. I'm really proud of Frustrations of the Hunt and this is the vibe I want my original writing to have.
I'm also really proud of my one and only FMAB fic about Alphonse getting pants. It's more serious than it sounds.
I actually have a collection of my works that I'm really proud of too!
Let's tag @resplendent-chungus. Do it bitch /affectionate

20 Questions For Fic Writers
Thank you so much @darktwistedgenderplural, @wilmonsfolklore, @iwouldnevergetintofanfic & @earlgrey-lateatnight for tagging me in this!!!! This is so much fun!!! 💜💜💜💜💜
How many works do you have on Ao3?
17! (but only 12 of those "count", the other 5 are 6+ years old)
What's your total Ao3 word count?
107,628
What fandoms do you write for?
Young Royals
Top five fics by kudos
You crave the Applause / Yet hate the Attention
Lavender Haze
It's in the water, baby
Never Letting You Go
Close, Closer
Do you respond to comments?
Yessssss, I really want to reply to every comment I get because I appreciate people taking their time to write them a lot, but sadly I've been super busy this semester and so there are quite a few still waiting to be responded to. But!!! I've seen them, I have and continue to feel over the moon about them and some day you'll all get your replies!
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
If we're only talking about the current fandom... none? I don't think I've ever given anything an angst ending. I don't even know if I'd be able to do that with Wilmon
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
By that logic, all the rest lmao. I think the ending that made me personally most giddy/happy for my blorbos was probably Lavender Haze because the potential, the big feelings that don't have a name yet, the I-really-wanna-see-you-again of it all? Yeah that one feels the happiest.
Do you get hate on fics?
Not usually, no. Although I had one salty anon who apparently thinks writing about characters being attracted to each other qualifies as fetishizing the actors? Lot to unpack there.
Do you write smut?
Yepppp
Craziest crossover:
I don't think I've ever written anything that could be considered a crossover
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yeah, in the early days of me writing fics people would go around and just... copy a whole fic and post it to their blog instead?
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I get comments asking me if people can translate my fics, but I haven't seen a translation thus far, no.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope! Would love to try it some time though
All time favourite ship?
Wilmon all the waaaaayyy
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Ugh the list is so long. One thing that I'd LOVE to write but I'm just not sure I've got it in me worldbuilding-wise is a fic where wilmon are ancient greek heroes to be
What are your writing strengths?
I've been told that "filth with feelings" is one of my strengths. Oh and some of my favorite compliments have been ones that said I was good at really getting into a character's (let's be real, it's Wille's) psyche
What are your writing weaknesses?
How long do you have lmao? Idk where to start, hmm. I think I just always question myself and every choice a little too much in general, I have a very weird mix of perfectionism and impatience going on, I start too many new things before old ones are finished, my English isn't as good as it could be, I don't know when to stop rambling...
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I really don't see why you wouldn't use it. I think it's a nice little touch, at least I like it a lot on YR fanfic. It needs to make sense of course, but why not have a casual little "nej" somewhere, I think that's fun!
First fandom you wrote in?
One Direction, in ye olden days (2012) lol
Favourite fic you've written?
Oh this is difficuuuuult, aaaaah. But tbh I like Lavender Haze and the sequel All this shit is new to me a lot. Those are my sweet, sweet babies, because, I think I've said this before, this is my first multichaptered Wilmon fic that isn't "just" pwalp (=porn with a little plot) and I feel like I get to try myself out a lot with All this shit. I like the process of writing it and as for Lavender Haze, there are just some tiny elements in there that I feel immensely proud of.
I'm gonna (very much no pressure) tag @grapehyasynth, @oneofthosebells, @toffeelemon, @goldenwilmon & @piebingo and anyone else who sees this and hasn't been tagged yet (and if I'm double-tagging, apologies!) 💜

Tea Time Anon
note: in this post i refer to tumblr user Spade-Riddles as "ttb" the whole time (her suspected old blog's nickname was ttb). wherever you see me say "ttb" i mean tumblr user Spade-Riddles.
alright, guys, i got the ok from the original tea time anon who found me and told me about how they tricked ttb into thinking they were an insider.
i'm sharing now because the damage she's done to queer people in this community is insurmountable and the idea that little baby kaylors are thinking about missing out on the show of a lifetime because they want to skip eras tour because they're sad about karlie having another baby with josh is just breaking my heart. ttb has been leading people to believe that kaylor is still together and saying her "insiders" have proved it to her and every time karlie does anything with josh all those people get upset. it's not fair for this woman to mislead people and ruin their taylor/gaylor experience by getting their hopes up that karlie and taylor are just around the corner from coming out when obviously that couldn't be further from the truth. i mean it's insanely obvious to me that karlie and taylor have long gone their separate ways and are no longer involved at all but i digress.
i held back on sharing this for a while because while ttb is kind of humorous to watch she IS dangerous and i just didn't want the heat from her. her (or her followers) have harassed, stalked, and outed multiple gaylors in retaliation for speaking out against her:
but i think it's time i get over that. i don't think they'll find my identity and even if they do whatever i'll be alright.
so long story short- someone reached out to me to tell me they were tea time anon and that they did it to see if they could get ttb to believe them as an insider source. i got the code they used to verify themselves to her and to prove to myself they weren't pulling my leg sent in a message about the coney island bridge because cara's birthday was coming up and the bridge says "happy birthday". i capitalized ISLA in the word because cara likes that name. it was a bit of a laugh but mostly i just had to send something to prove they weren't just pretending to be tea time anon.
here's some of our convo (make note of the dates):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so those are all from april 6th and as you can see here's the anon i sent in posing as tea time anon that was posted on april 7th:
Tumblr media
and here's a message from the next day- tea time's reaction to it and me mentioning why i capitalized isla:
Tumblr media
and at some point, one of us (idk who) went back and told them yes the baby is named isla:
Tumblr media
so yeah... if you're reading this and you've ever thought ttb had legitimate info from her myriad of insiders from Spade to Tea Time Anon to that flag person who's sending in stuff these days now you know... she just doesn't. it's people making stuff up or fanfic-ing or trolling.
let me just say i do think all of this is childish and i don't encourage this kind of thing but sometimes childish stuff is gonna go down in fandom spaces. it's just the name of the game. i've had my childish moments and i'm not exactly proud of that, but ttb misleads and harms so many innocent people, especially so many innocent young queer people it's time someone shined the light on just how misinformed she is and provided hard proof that yes coincidences happen. just because a fake insider mentions "isla" and taylor wore isla boots or an isla ring 3 years before that doesn't mean they are legit.
i encourage everyone reading this to try and learn how to enjoy gaylor without plummeting into complete conspiracy theories. there are a lot of healthier and more realistic ways to appreciate taylor's music from a queer perspective than what they get up to over on spade-riddles.
and another reminder that ttb is dangerous. she (or her minions) harasses and outs people who disagree with her. if you're a fan of hers, please be careful. never share your identity or personal details about your life with her or her henchmen.
AND FOR GOD'S SAKE IF YOU HAVE ERAS TOUR TICKETS GO AND ENJOY IT DO NOT SKIP THE SHOW OF A LIFETIME JUST BECAUSE KARLIE KLOSS IS OUT HERE LIVING HER BEST LIFE! YOU WILL FOREVER REGRET NOT GOING.

I hope you focus on new era and do request later on when your inspired but tbh....im kinda worried that you're overworking yourself, thats one of the reasons why writers quit writing sometimes .
haha imma take this opportunity to talk abt ig?? a more real/serious side?? imma try not to go too deep but the longer version is under the cut
tldr: I appreciate the concern and I will try not to <3
New Era and mortal kombat in general are like ??? the biggest passion projects I've had in a WHILE. I love mortal kombat it is my biggest brainrot and I LOVE story telling and fanfics in general so it's nice to finally have something to really motivate me and something to remind me of how many days go by. I also kinda really thrive over the feedback haha Whenever I post about thinking abt New Era it's purely because I just think about those things to help me pass time at work and stuff, no burn out worries there. I also just think about it a lot because that's kinda just who I am haha
I actually tbh feel like I'm not doing nearly enough sometimes?? Like I wish I could consistently upload AND do requests more frequently. The people pleaser in me wishes i could do New Era -> Request -> New Era day by day, but I know that's heavily unrealistic and I WILL burn out if I do that.
I actually am taking steps to prevent burn out! I do requests only when I feel like it, even if I feel really really guilty that they're not getting done because I know forcing myself to do that AND New Era won't help. I try to type for New Era every night when I can, but if I type for a while and still don't feel like it, I just let myself do other things so I prevent burn out.
While I appreciate requests (I really do!!) I feel like I have a bit of imposter syndrome over it all?? Like I know it's because I am doing them as a side project to my passion project but it's like. "Anyone else would have these out in a day or two, meanwhile these people have to wait potentially WEEKS to get theirs done" and I try to remind myself that it's okay. But then I kinda end up forcing myself to write more to compensate?? Like consistently I make myself write 5k for New Era, and try to make my requests be like. 2k minimum, if not more. (I still feel bad that Sick Days was only 2k+ and not more tbh???)
I know if I REALLY wanted to I could just force myself to grind away at stories to no end but I don't let myself just so I can keep myself sane ig HAHA
Idk at the end of the day I remind myself that these are just passion projects haha ^^ I'm only writer as a hobby and because I want to tell stories and share my vision! I don't plan on writing as a job (unless fanficition writing is a job in a future somehow HAHA)
I appreciate the concern, and will keep it in mind <3 I try to not let myself burn out already, but I will make sure to keep monitoring myself over it <3 Thank you if you read this incomprehensible mess, I'm not that good at going on rants in an organized fashion. haha

ur post about oc fic and reader insert fic made me think about how every time i see a post dragging x reader it's kinda just... thinly veiled misogyny.
like i don't wanna get super deep or whatever but a good chunk of x reader writers (myself included) are just women or people socialized as women that have felt unloved or under appreciated in their lives because of their looks or their personality or their skills in things that women/feminine people are expected to excel in and i think that oc/reader insert stories give women a really important space to make themselves (or a version of themselves) the most desired thing which is something that they often don't experience. it's a space where women can feel comfortable and loved in a world where they're under appreciated and tossed aside because of things out of their control and it drives me up a wall when i see people shitting on these spaces and these works because these are just safe spaces for marginalized people PREDOMINATELY CREATED BY MARGINALIZED PEOPLE!!
n e ways this was a long rant oops..
omg see the thing that gets me about the occassional x reader/oc drag is that—the call is coming from inside the house LMAO. like, okay maybe original characters in fics aren’t a niche thing, but x reader sure the hell is, so you have to like, know internet culture/fandom to be aware of it let alone to start using it like an insult, you know? and i would argue that fanfic tends to be a hobby that attracts marginalised identities as you say, so like, why are we clowning on ourselves? LOL. it’s like a mathlete bullying the horse girl of their class, like, buddy—we’re both losers!!! get over yourself LMAO.
i think my favourite dig at x reader (specifically) that i’ve ever seen is some rando on tiktok saying it was fanfic for people who were popular in public school—i think it’s so telling of how other fans might view oc/reader content? like, “oh that’s just some straight girl shit, they’re not putting any effort into it/they’re stealing our precious ship boys for their pORN/they’re ruining the canon story by inserting themselves into it”. and idk—part of it is just human nature (we are always going to shit on things we don’t like, that is a fact) and part of it might be fandom/internet culture at large at the moment (the purity aspect/policing) but at the end of the day all we can do is tell them to eat dog shit when they sprout up in our spaces and ignore ‘em.
idk! it drives me bonkers though, because it does feel like these spaces/niches do get targeted unfairly for it—if it’s not for the simple crime of writing a love story with your favourite character, then it’s like… being old and doing it! because god forbid you be over the age of 18 and still enjoy engaging with fiction! don’t you have a mortgage to go pay? like—i never see that attitude (within a fandom space) directed at the grown-ass men and women and gender neutral pals who play like, Dungeons and Dragons. No one (within a fandom space!) tells them they’re weird for forty-hour long campaigns where they fight and fall in love and idk, put dragons in some dungeons or something. no—it’s the blatant love stories that get picked on. the ones written by girls (gender neutral).
romance—and falling in love—is one of the most universal feelings/acts in the world. we want to fall in love with everything! in every world! we wanna—fall in love and be loved by superheroes and the villains they fight and the monsters in the dark and the good guys that rush in with swords and the cute barista at the coffee shop down the road. if other fans wanna get hung up on the fact that a tiny fraction of others want to insert themselves in these incredible worlds and experience everything they want to (having powers; being saved. saving someone else—saving yourself) then that’s their problem lmaoooo. im sorry you can’t have fun and create whimsy for yourself by drawing an oc who wins the sports festival and saves bakugou from being kidnapped—but im built different. 😌 and im gonna have fun while im here.

Let me start by saying I am in love with you, your writing has me on chokehold. It has been only two-three months I have gotten the hold of AO3 because of bridgerton s3 and now I am in the rabbit hole of Benelope and Penthony all because of you! Your fictions has me obsessed with Benedict and Penelope, you write them so perfectly. I have read all your work and reread them so often, think about them every other day if not daily. Initially I was waiting for 'unspooled thread' to be finished but I could not, and I'm so glad for that. Just caught up with that yesterday and my god what you and @itakethewords has done!!(I love their writing too so much, you both are a force unmatched).
I mean I have to stop reading so many times to catch my breath because it is so so good!! I could feel every emotion radiating through words. Let me say I have never watched s1 & 2, I just watched s3 because of the 'wallflower' tagline as I'm a wallflower too. So Unspooled Thread IS MY CANON. Idk what anyone says, I am in so much love with Benelope, ahhhh they are so perfect!! You have given such a great gift, I have been struggling a lot mentally and your writings have helped me to keep myself sane, to have something to look forward to. I am not saying this lightly but maaaannnn what you did in 'The Becoming of Baron' and 'Many hearts,' I am in awe! I never thought I could read polyandry and here I am reading every reverse harem with Penelope! I love Pen so much, she has such a rich personality that it is so easy to read her pairing with anyone. But man oh man the benelope is just magnificent. Please never stop writing them, your talent is so powerful, your words make me feel so much, it feels so wholesome. You have become one of my favourite writers, and I am not just saying for AO3! In everything I have ever read. I am in awe how you craft stories and show the depth of characters. I was never willing to watch Bridgerton before s3, Idk why. But Nicola Coughlan had me fall in love with her, and Penelope is one of the most alluring female character with all her flaws. I love how your treat her as such, the depth she deserve. Your stories have kept me afloat, the reread value in them is just phenomenal. I could write so many words more but I think will keep repeating, so I just want you to know that your writing has made a change in world, in my life, it has hold me through toughest of times. And I so wholeheartedly appreciate your every effort is gifting us with such wonders. Thanks a million! I wish you and @itakethewords all the happiness in the world.
Hello!!
Oh my goodness, this is the nicest, highest compliment me and @velvetcovered-brick (itakethewords on AO3) could have! Truly, truly, thank you for your kindness and for reading our stories. It means a lot to us!
We understand how reading fanfic can really help when your mental health is suffering. Fanfic is one of the most amazing forms of escapism and I’m so glad and honored we have been able to help with that, even in a small way. ♥️
Also super glad you gave the poly fics a shot! They’re not everyone’s cup of tea, which is completely valid, but I’m so happy you enjoyed them and still found the characters east to love and connect with.
Also, welcome to the Bridgerton fandom! We are so glad that Nicola Coughlan bring the amazing actress she is, convinced you to give season 3 a try.
It’s a super high compliment that our version of s1 and s2 in unspooled thread is basically your canon. That’s incredibly sweet! We will be so interested to see what you think of our version of s3 is when we get there!! It’s going to be the most ambitious yet!
Seriously, thank you for your kindness. Me and @velvetcovered-brick (itakethewords on ao3) really, really, REALLY appreciate it!!
Also, look out for Halloween season! @velvetcovered-brick and I are planning a special Penelope treat… with a bite 🧛

nobody asked me to answer, but I’m gonna anyways 😝
🎱 ⇢ post your AO3 total stats
Idk how to do that lol
🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
I couldn’t find any fics that I wanted bc I’m too specific, so I started writing. It was purely for fun and I wasn’t fully thinking about the fact that people might actually read it AND enjoy it lol
🌵 ⇢ share the link to a playlist you love
me and some of my moots from TikTok created this playlist lol (it’s, like, 14 hours long)
🕯️ ⇢ on a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy editing? why is that? Idk what that means but ima go off of what I’m thinking and that is just editing while proof reading and I enjoy it! 10/10
🛼 ⇢ describe your latest wip with five emojis
🙏👉😁🔥💀 (no, it’s not abt the burning church 💀🙏)
🥑 ⇢ you accidentally killed somebody, which mutual(s) do you text for help?
I’m new here, I have no EXTREMELY close moots so idk. But @paul-ster seems pretty chill so probably them (
🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love
I HAVE SO MANY I LOVE! But if I had to choose rn Soracha for the author and “Ron Weasley and His First Year at Hogwarts” by snoopy_owl. Two of my favs!
💌 ⇢ how many unread emails do you have right now?
none, believe it or not. I constantly check it for ao3 updates. But I also have three separate yt accounts so I get regular emails abt comments and updates and I normally check them everyday. The only exception is one email I use for spam sites like grammarly, that email has 408 unread emails.
🌻 ⇢ tag someone you appreciate but don't talk to on a regular basis
@fictionalcharactergraveyard
🐇 ⇢ do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or a mix of both?
ooo, neither tbh. Unless its a one-shot or a mini fic where I add a S/O or like my unpublished Uber fic where I had to add several OG characters, I don’t like adding new ones bc I think it disrupts the story a lot and I normally don’t read fics when people do that. And personally, unless it’s the ones that are supposed to be halrious and satire, I think self-inserts are kinda cringey bc most people who write them over-sexulize the characters and add weird stuff in that makes me cringe (key word: MOST not ALL) but also I just cant imagine myself dating someone let alone my comfort characters.
🧃 ⇢ share some personal lore you never posted about before
I don’t think I have any
🎲 ⇢ what stops you from writing more in your free time?
I just can’t get into the writing mood. But when I start it’s really hard to stop
🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
PURLY! I love to think Curly calls pony “Mi Amor” or like calls him pet names in Spanish. I think it’s really cute
🧸 ⇢ what's the fastest way to become your mutual?
literally don’t be fake as hell. Don’t be all shy and sweet like, if you are comeback or Yapping king/queen then tell me bc we can yap together. Like, If I can call you Pookie within the first four interactions, we are besties, considered us married at that point
🪐 ⇢ name three good things going on in your life right now
I’m redecorating my room, I got a new puppy, and- wait, bitch, who gives a fuck, let’s be honest 💀🙏
📚 ⇢ what's the last thing you wrote down in your notes app?
can’t say bc it’s an unpublished chapter of a on going fic 😝
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
Harry Potter is kinda an ass
🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
I don’t write anything too bizarre so I can’t think of anything
🦷 ⇢ share some personal wisdom or a life hack you swear on
strive to accomplish what you set as a goal, not what society set as a standard or a must
❄️ ⇢ what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?
My comfort character gets ignored hard core, makes new friends, get into shenanigans, and then a lot of angst ensues. Who would write it best? Mmm…Fictionalcharacter graveyard or Soracha
🌿 ⇢ give some advice on writer's block and low creativity
if you have a scene you want to write for a fic, start writing it but ONLY WRITE THE DIALOGUE. You can add who said it but I do it all the time and it gives me new ideas and gradually helps me continue a fic. It’s also easier to add detail in between when you are focused on that instead of getting to the next dialogue scene.
🥐 ⇢ name one internet reference that will always make you laugh
Nick Sturniolos iconic “Then he will taste the rainbow while he goes out”
🏜️ ⇢ what's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?
“I LOVE THIS, I CAN’T WAIT FOR ANOTHER CHAPTER!” Then they go on an entire yap session about how they think the fic will turn out or parts they’re excited for. It always makes me happy to see someone enjoy my hobby as much as I do even though we have different perspectives 🤭
🍦 ⇢ name three good things about a character you hate
Alr, ik im gonna get backlash but i cant stand Cherry Valence. 1. I will give it to her, she’s a downright badass.
2. her hair is really pretty
3. She was nice to pony at the drive in, I’ll give her some points (still don’t like her too much tho)
🥝 ⇢ do you lie a lot? what's the most recent lie you told?
Not much. Okay, this is gonna sound so fricking clique but that last lie I told was “Yeah, I’m fine, just tired” even though I know damn well I’m probably depressed asf
🦋 ⇢ share something that has been on your heart and mind lately
I have only older siblings and every time one moves out, I stop talking to them so I don’t become the annoying youngest sister, so I’m afraid their gonna forget about me, and they probably will. I only have two siblings that still live with me so that’s only two more people left to forget me before I’m totally alone lol. (Depressed, see?)
🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
book writers that can describe really well.
🍅 ⇢ give yourself some constructive criticism on your own writing
I think I’m too impatient and give myself an unrealistic deadline for stuff
🐚 ⇢ do you like or dislike surprises?
I like them a lot!
🪲 ⇢ add 50 words to your current wip and share the paragraph here
I’ll add that later lol
☁️ ⇢ what made you choose your username?
it was a name my family wouldn’t be able to find. I’m embarrassed to write bc my family LOVES to pick out your insecurities and hobbies and never let you live them down.
🐝 ⇢ tag your biggest supporter(s) and say one nice thing about them
again, I’m new here, so nobody here is my “supporter” but @shae-pine has liked all of my posts so ig them? I got to say, that “The Youngest (The Favorite)” fic I really liked! Ur also just the sweetest person ever! 😭🫶🏻
🌸 ⇢ do you have any pets? if you do, post some pictures of them
I have 7 (I had 8 but my cat passed away yesterday, RIP in the comments for Sophie 🩵)
I won’t post pics because that’s a large file 😭🙏
🎨 ⇢ link your favourite piece of fanart and explain why you like it
Tumblr media
I DONT HAVE THE LINK BUT I LOVE THIS
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
self insert, too much OOC scenes, pairings I don’t like, oc’s/characters unless it’s the character I’m reading abt, pure smut or p*rn, over sexulization or romanticizing R*pe, over detailed non-con, specific characters are dead, and the fic doesn’t focus on a character that I wanna read about.

helloooo, i hope this isnt weird at all.
u really inspired me to start writing one of the wips ive had cooking in my head for 10,000 years with CBMTHY (i love your interpretations of all the characters across everything youve written, even dark! versions of everyone).
but how do you get the thoughts in your head onto the page :( its a little demotivating to not be as good of a writer as I'd like. so im terrified constantly that the story isn't coming off correctly. it certainly doesn't help that I've been stewing on this fanfic concept since i initially read acotar and tog, (crossover shit woo!) but the scenes are so vivid in my imagination that everything i can actually type out seems to fall flat or seems jumbled with the amount i try to include.
like, i posted a part last night after having it ready to go for months (there are several more im hiding 😭) and have reread it 3 times and have to remind myself its fine and i dont need to delete it. but idk if im just being crazy tbh. Im also very much the same type of person who needs feedback in order to continue with creative projects. however the idea of even asking about it here is intimidating, especially after your stories helped push this lil amateur to write. But any help would be so greatly appreciated, especially becsuse theres no one ik personally who enjoys the series who would be willing to chat about it 😅
again, i hope its not weird that im not sending anything in directly related to ur work and asking for advice 😅😅 but i hope you have a good rest of ur day/ night !!
haha, don't worry about it! I'm not sure I'm the best person to offer advice on this since I'm just kind of writing what I want to write though, but I'll try and help.
What you mentioned about struggling to get thoughts down on the page - I think an element of it is probably feeling comfortable enough to put them down there in the first place? That and also having the words to know what you mean? Read around, listen to music, chat with people if you can and see if you can find stuff you resonate with and then pay attention to what it is and try to figure out why. And it can take a while to find the right words, so let yourself breathe.
Suddenly jumping into a project you've been hyping up in your mind won't come out pristine immediately, it might be a case of writing paragraphs once, then writing them out again beneath that but trying to improve on what you've already written with a thesaurus in hand. It might also be a case of listening to music that simulates the emotions you want to write out and then trying to articulate them in the moment. Also writing without thinking can help. Or writing exactly how you're thinking, I guess? It doesn't always work though, so I'd sincerely suggest trying to write some smaller things to start with or have on the side to help practice.
In terms of trying to find people to give feedback, I think interacting with other writers can help. I'm not the best person for this since I like being away from my computer/phone as much as possible, but chatting to writers off anon, or if your writing blog isn't your main one then switching to your writing blog to leave a comment or reblog and leaving notes in the tags is a really great way to show other people you're interested in acotar/tog and writing. If the idea of coming off anon to interact with writers is (like I find it) absolutely terrifying, you can always keep anon on but sign off using a specific pseudonym or emoji that will be recognisable! That way you can get used to chatting without entirely compromising your anonymity and hopefully become comfortable. Asking other people what they do to help them get their thoughts down too can help since you'll be more likely to find someone similar.
I'd also recommend that if your story is long to try planning it out roughly as chapters or bulletpoints so you don't have to store it all in your brain. Have playlists on hand or boards on Pinterest to look over.
I think it's great that you've posted a chapter though - if you have a project you want to do well it's so easy to get caught up in wanting it to be a good as possible that you never actually get around to posting it, so I think what you've done is a great start. If you're unhappy with it after a few months or so you can always edit, nothing's written in stone.
And if you want to write in again please feel free to! I promise it doesn't have to be about my writing and I would think other writers would feel the same. If you want to turn off anon that's fine, and if you want to use an emoji as a sign off that's cool too, you can work your way up to chatting more openly about the stuff you enjoy :)
Also, if anyone else thinks they have some good tips for writing, getting thoughts down, keeping up interest/motivation with a project please add them!
And anon if you want to send in a link to the first part of your story feel free to, or if you want to chat with me directly I'd be interested to have a peek at what you're writing? I love acotar but tog still has a special place in my heart so I'd love to read more content around it too. I know how scary it can be sharing stuff you've worked hard on :)

20 questions for fic writers!
tagged by @honeyteacakes <3 (and belatedly, @tharkuun haha)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
25
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
400,576 (+ 100k extra from fics i've deleted/orphaned in the past few years haha rip)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
i am at the mercy of the hyperfixation, and currently it's The Sandman and Dreamling exclusively.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1) Salvation (How to Get Away With Murder) 2) The Red Witch (Good Omens) 3) Bolt in the Blue (The Sandman) 4) Let Me Down Easy (The Sandman) 5) Show Me (The Mandalorian)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yes and no. i love that people take the time to show their appreciation for a fic and i always want to reply and show how much it means to me... but i have this bad habit of not replying to comments on say, older works or older chapters of a fic. idk why... im just not good at it lol BUT I LOVE AND APPRECIATE EVERY SINGLE COMMENT, EVEN THE LITTLE ONES 💖💖
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
oh, Exit Wounds, for sure haha
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
im a sucker for happy endings so i'd say, everything else lol but particularly Almost Idyllic (The Song of Achilles) due to the build up and Salvation also, because of the events leading up to the ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not since my ff.net days haha.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
very occasionally. and nothing too wild (except for that dreamling butt plug one. that was. hmm.) but i typically enjoy writing first times.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
i do not.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
nope. though i have seen ideas/prompts used without credit. it doesn't bother me much.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
once, The Red Witch (which btw has been discontinued, pls don't read it lol). it started off just me, then my editor jumped on maybe 5 chapters in once i realized they were much more versed in magick and fantasy than me.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
haha probably Zutara.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
ahhh haha... fuck. idk i want to say none. but my brain keeps whispering about the dreamling road trip au. i thought i had a plot but as i continue working on bitb and other little drabbles... ive realized i might've bitten off more than i can chew. and my only option is to completely sideline it until im done with bitb, or change the story (because right now the research i have to do for it is too much and y'all know how i am...) it sucks cos i do want to write it. but it's difficult when all my patience for research is already going into one fic (bitb).
16. What are your writing strengths?
dialogue and monologuing, probably.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
self 👏 motivation 👏 finding 👏 the 👏 urge 👏 to 👏 write (technically, it's tense. i flip between past and present tense constantly and at this point i just consider it one of my endearing qualities pfft)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i try to avoid it but when it happens i just use Google Translate and then toss a disclaimer that ive done my best (to which usually a commenter will helpfully correct me and then all is well)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Inuyashaaaaa (Miroku/Sango omg). exchanging physical notebooks with my friends with fanfics we'd written in school lol
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
truly a tie between Savory & Sweet and Let Me Down Easy (at the moment). the restaurant au was so easy and fun to write (probably because i used to be in the industry) and i reread it a lot. the pacing is fast and i love how immediate Hob and Dream fall into each other haha. Let Me Down Easy was very similar. my major was Media Production in undergrad and although it's been a while since i've held a camera, it was fun putting myself back in that environment. also the angst and tension were just a blast to write and figure out.
(this was an excellent waste of time, thanks again!) tagged, if y'all want, @magnusbae @teejaystumbles @ml-nolan @tj-dragonblade @reallyintoscience @delta-pavonis @staroftheendless

I stumbled upon fool’s gold when I was looking up brocedes fic (yes in 2024 i know) and omg was I drawn you with your amazing writing. On my way to order your novel!
I wanted to know if you had any tips for new writers trying to plan their novel, keeping track of storylines and ways for improve their writing?
thank you! i really appreciate it.
my advice under the cut
for commercial novels, i'm definitely not the one to ask, as i'm still very much a newbie when it comes to self-publishing. i will say commercial fiction and fanfiction are completely different beasts. if you're a new writer, i would try fanfiction first to see where you stand, so to speak. commercial novels are very hard to sell without a fanbase unless you really know what you're doing, and even after publishing (almost) 3 books in a year, i still barely know what i'm doing.
fanfic lets you write what you want, and you can tell almost immediately if its resonating or not because the readers are already there. word gets around quick in fanfic spaces. if it doesn't do well, you have to figure out why. my older fics have terrible grammar and punctuation mistakes that would never fly in a real novel. sometimes i made up for it with a good enough story that people could ignore those things (Horsepower, for example lol) but it wasn't until i really started focusing on learning that it started coming together. i still have problems with commas and semicolons LOL. once you get that down and pair it with a good story, the magic happens!
i will say that finishing what you start is absolutely necessary. i used to get stuck at 30k words. now i can write that in 2 weeks or less. it's important as a writer that you deliver on your promises to finish what you start. for fanfic it's more okay to abandon something, but you will burn fans. i have 3 fics i'll never finish, 2 no one really read in the first place but 1 was on track to be my most popular fic ever and i just...didn't write anymore because of life. nowadays i'll shorten the story and finish it before abandoning it.
yes, fanfic is about having fun etc, but i take it seriously, especially when people are depending on me to create for them. while you don't make money on fanfic, you get what every business pays a shit ton of money to have: people engaged in your content/you. the readers here on tumblr, ao3, and in the discord server make writing fun for me. i'm very lucky that many of those people have also followed me into novel writing by joining my patreon and buying my books as well. if i only finished half of the books i started, i doubt those people would stick around, no matter how much they like my writing haha. i don't write for myself, i write to share stories with those fans.
as for planning, i'm also not really the person to ask haha. for fool's gold i just scribbled down sparknotes of race weekends and wove the plot into them. my best fics maybe had an ending in mind early on (HLS) or a premise i wanted to explore (for PAPM, a amnesia fic where the MC never gets his memories back but there's still a story). a lot of it is intuitive, but i'm still learning. for my professional writing i loosely go off the 3-Act breakdown and Save The Cat! but i only started doing that in the past year or so.
In fic writing, you're forced to work with what you've already written and make it work. In professional writing, you better be ready to hack it to pieces and rewrite the whole thing (Redline lol) to make it better, and people will still not like it. like, people are mad at me for how i ended Short Shift because they think I'm going to tropify it lol.
i see all my stories as movies in my head, so i rarely have to dig into my notes to see what actually happened because i "saw" it happen. idk how to explain it. for FG i wrote most of it without flipping back through. i do forget stuff, but for fanfic it's usually fine. for professional writing, i have beta readers checking that everything makes sense.
in short, just write. soooo many people i know want to write a book and then spend months planning, planning, planning, and never write it. my first attempt at a novel is 85k words and took over a year to write and will never see the light of day. meanwhile wheelspin is 106k words and i wrote it in 3ish months.
there are a lot of shitty books out there making careers for people. as long as you have a good story and a good editor (or knwo how ot edit yourself), you can do a lot and learn as you go. but just keep in mind that self-publishing is like 40% writing and 60% business. i spent 6 months taking free classes on self publishing before Redline debuted just to be able to do the basics. it's a steep learning curve, but worth it when you can hold your own book in your hands. :)

oooh how about these? ✨️ Out of the comments you’ve received on your fics, what are two or three of your favorites? 🥳 Why did you start writing fanfic? 🌻 How often do you read your own fics?
ask game
OHHH THESE ARE REALLY GOOD QUESTIONS...THANK U SO MUCH FOR SENDING THESE IN I APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH DUDE <333
✨️ Out of the comments you’ve received on your fics, what are two or three of your favorites?
AUGH THIS ONE IS REALLY FUCKING HARD ACTUALLY cause literally every single comment i've ever gotten means so fucking much to me. just shit man like. time and energy are the most valuable resources a human has. so the fact someone used time and energy to read my fic in the first place, and then used even MORE of that time and energy to discuss with me about it? for my own fic? like. that's jsut. it's so insanely validating and just. it truly means so fucking much to me. so because of this every comment i've ever gotten like, has always stuck in my head i cant really let any of them go. and it's very hard to pick a favorite
however, particularly the ones that are like... "i have chronic pain issues and i see myself in ur kakyoin" def mean a lot to me as jsut, a whole "genre" of comment. because like, his portrayal there is frankly FOR them to see themselves in so im glad im like, doing it well enough so far. i hope to continue to do this. also as an extension of this it means a lot when comments mention liking how i write kakyoin cuase like, i really do, uh, worry about how he's coming across 😭 i know my 4yoin is a LOT sharper than many others and i know it can be kinda alienating tbh so like. im really glad people like, give it a chance. and then even like it on top of that. AND JSUT. last one but comments that like, dissect how i've set up jotaro and kakyoin. and like how they've both made mistakes here but they're still able to fix it if they jsut try. i really like those hehe like YES....YES.... U GET IT U GET WHAT IM PUTTING DOWN it's jsut so fun. UM BUT YEAH
🥳 Why did you start writing fanfic?
IT'S ACTUALLY UH, NOT THAT FUN OF A STORY 😭 my mom was/maybe still is idk, a "fandom mom" type of person so she got me into fanfiction way too young and i started writing fic as a result to kinda, idk, bond with her cause she also wrote fic. it didnt really work because my mom was into smut and well, obviously i wasnt writing that as a 7 year old. it didn't help that in the fandom we were in together, i didn't like her main ship at all. but it did get me into writing! it's been something i've engaged with since then and i've always loved it even if yknow 😭😭😭 weird origins
🌻 How often do you read your own fics?
TO BE HONEST....A LOT LMAO but it's usually when im dozing off and jsut need something to occupy my mind enough so that my thoughts can slow down into unconsciousness. but i do also jsut, read my stuff sometimes cause it's for MEEE so. lol <3
THANK U SO MUCH FOR ASKING DUDE AHH <333

Hey Penny,
you don't know me and I usually don't send asks or anything but would you reconsider your decision on Black Acres? And before you say no, please hear me out.
I've been a quiet fan of your whole Black Phone fanfiction and I noticed what happened with yk who copying your stuff. I can totally understand the frustration and anger when something like this happens. I can relate. It was the right decision to point it out and to not be okay with it. I respect the way you dealt with that person, me personally, I could've never been as nice and professionel as you were.
Think about how many people loved and adored your story and how many people came back for each new chapter (me included). You wrote so much and the story of y/n and Albert kept me up all night and brought me a lot of joy. It really distracted me from reality and the way you write is so unique that it felt like shifting into their world everytime I opened Archive of our own and tumblr.
And no matter how much that person stole from your story, it will never be nearly as good as yours. TRUST ME. I checked on it when it all went down and girl it's boring af. Like, bffr.
Idk I'm just sad that someone as talented as you stopped with a really good fanfic because someone lacks creativity..
so that's why I'm sending this in hope that you maaayyybe think about it?
Sending you lots of love from Turkey
Oh goodness, wow. I’m blown away! I really appreciate you taking the time to send me this, it’s very sweet and making me feel all kinds of gooey inside 🥺
I can’t say I haven’t thought about it; I still occasionally think about finishing it, but mostly, it just makes me kind of nauseous to think about. It wasn’t the first time I had a fic stolen, and probably won’t be the last, but it was probably the one that was the most frustrating, given the lack of support I had at the time, and the amount of people willfully ignoring valid evidence.
That all said— I’m focusing on Non Compos Mentis for the time being, but I won’t say I’m not ever going to finish BA. But I do want to finish NCM before I even consider anything else (my brain is chomping at the bit to do something with BG3, The Boys, or American Psycho).
Anyway. I also hope to someday go back and finish it, but I won’t make any promises to anyone else or to myself, since I don’t want to let anyone down. But thank you so, so much for your interest and support!! And for taking the time to write this to me 🥺🥺

i read your comment reply to the "x reader needs to be completely ambiguous" post and i have to say, i agree with your whole statement.
i am a poc fanfic writer myself and i think it is weirdly entitled when someone demands inclusion in that way? the majority of fanfic nowadays gives correct tags (i.e. f!reader or specific title!reader) and is inclusive enough (not using light/dark when talking of colours of skin/eyes/hair, not specificying on body type just saying that are shorter/taller than certain characters)
so I don't really understand OP's whole... rant. and about the whole personality and bg story? most long fics require some adequate backstory for their protagonist a.k.a the reader, so they need a backstory to be somewhat interesting right?
and did you read their PS 2? I have to say that writing ambiguous readers are easier (not easy, just less difficult) on short stories like drabbles or headcanons or one shots. but long fics? it is borderline impossible unless you want to have a boring 2-dimensional protagonist with the personality of a potato.
not to mention writers who write the untagged oc! reader stories are probably young. like 14 15 young. writers at that age are just writing for themselves and probably are new to the whole "writing for fandom" sphere.
idk anymore, I just wanna say I agree with your statement even if I'm afraid to reveal myself bc I'm scared of getting cancelled lmfaooo
i just saw their ps 2 and i personally think they're doubling down on a point just because someone else might not agree with them... ive been writing fanfiction since i was 13,,, im like 22 now, and i feel like what people in fandom nowadays (fuck i sound like a boomer urggghhh) forget that x readers were created as a form of self-insert. you as a reader just happen to have the "privilege" to also read this piece of fanfiction that someone else created to satisfy their own fantasies and thought that "hey i think someone like me out there might enjoy this too!!!"
i wouldn't say their rant is entitled, i guess they're not wrong but also,,, it's icky,, just that something in that rant is icky to me,,, ive seen this same argument over and over again in the past few years and many people have pointed out really good points (i.e. lack of poc rep) which is why i think it's great to highlight and boost poc!reader fanfics so that other poc writers know that they are appreciated in that fandom space!!! which brings me to the part in their rant where they talk about writing about ambiguous readers.
is it easy? to an extent, yes.
in my mind when i write fanfics, they are all faceless, shapeless entities,, but there is only so much i can do with this character that i cannot imagine. what happens when i want to explore certain topics that i might relate to? i can't expect my readers to understand what it's like being a first-generation immigrant in a first-world city, whose home country is now going through a civil war? but does that mean i'm going to not post what i write as an x reader? no! i'm going to post it so that you as a reader can see what goes on in my head, how i see the world and hopefully, that reader can appreciate the work i have put out that i wrote with my heart.
that's my side of the story. and honestly someone not liking a fic because it doesn't relate to them is the most self-centred take i have seen and it used to be a valid argument but now,,,, it's morphing into plain old "what about me?" and they end the conversation at that,,, like why should writers care about you? if you're not the target audience for these fics,, move on!!!
if you are, great! good for you!
if you want to see something specific, open that fucking word document and write!!!! im so tired of seeing people complain and complain without doing anything to change things themselves like okay boss babes let's stop with the lip service and do something with the abilities you have!!! it's going to be the shittest writing ever the first few times but by your 10th or 20th fanfic you are getting somewhere, you are writing the literature you want to see in fandom spaces and who knows,,, you could find your own audience that loves your niche!!!
maybe it's just the way ive been raised but the amount of self-centred individualistic sentiment that has been going on in recent years is so!!!!!! it makes me want to fucking scream!!!! write it yourself!!! do it yourself!!!! im not obliged to write anybody's preferences other than my own!!!!
