when i was younger i fully internalised that i had learned helplessness but struggled to find real solutions because probably i was just poor with little to no resources or support. but going through my old stuff makes me wonder sometimes if maybe i was just stupid. i bought a wiimote at the flea market and couldn't get it to work but i kept it in case i could fix it later. just started troubleshooting it one last time so i can finally throw it out but. it simply works. did i not know how to sync it? i desperately wanted it to work. i didn't have the money to buy a second wiimote online and didn't know how to fix this one so i simply only had one wiimote and me and my friend had to take turns. but the whole time it just worked? 🫨 was i stupid??
#this one's a bit egregious but i keep running into situations like this#nothing makes you adventurous like recognising that it either gets fixed today or it gets put in a landfill for the rest of time#i broke my favourite watch with that mentality#but it had to happen. if you can't successfully replace a battery without purchasing a special tool that may or may not work#it's gotta go#but i've also successfully repaired/installed/upgraded many many items either on their way to the thrift store or to keep for myself#i'm definitely smarter now than i've ever been before#adam yaps
