One more (tragic) Solas rare pair: Solas x Mythal (from my fic The Dead Season). He was her bodyguard, then her general. Together, they plotted his rebellion from Skyhold where he built the first ten eluvians with his bare hands. They loved in secret. She died protecting him, and then he ended the world avenging her.

Writing Tag Game
I've been tagged by like ten people for this so thank you everyone who tagged me! @redinkofshame, @cartadwarfwithaheartofgold, @kunstpause Consider yourself tagged if you see it and like it.
How many works do you have on Ao3?
38!
What's your total Ao3 wordcount?
702,253. I would love for it to be more but I am a slow writer lol
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Woodstock 83 --3480 Kudos
Xmen fic set after Apocalypse where Peter keeps getting these golden opportunities to tell Magneto/Erik that he's his son, and keeps chickening out at the last minute.
I know I wasn't the only one who walked out of that movie theater pissed that Peter came so close to admitting this secret since the previous movie and never did, so I wrote a fix it.
2. The Sun Will Shine When Morning Comes -- 2567 Kudos
The sequel to Woodstock 83, told in Magneto's POV where he's coming to terms with being a father while he cares for his sick son. This is probably my fav X-Men fic I've ever written because I loved having these two figure out what their father/son relationship would be like long after Peter has grown up and how Erik has wanted a child again but doesn't know how to process having one.
3. Jail Break -- 2488 kudos
The first Peter & Magneto fic I ever wrote and the first fic I ever published! This takes place post Days of Future Past and it shows how Magneto could have found out that Peter was his son and build that reluctant connection. Peter has a lot of freaking out about whether or not he wants to accept a supervillain as his father.
4. Clowns to the Left of Me, Jokers to the Right -- 2396 Kudos
The third part of the series Jail Break Started. For some reason this is the most popular one shot in the series. In it, Peter has a huge fight with Magneto and then gets kidnapped by The Bad Guys and doesn't think his dad will come bail him out. But of course he does! And murders everyone in the compound to do it.
5. Two Lonely Souls in a Fish Bowl -- 2361 Kudos
The direct sequel to Jail Break where Magneto keeps showing up in the dead of night to visit Peter as they both figure out how they want this weird parent relationship to be.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Always! Even if it takes me a while. I love the interaction and I want people to feel noticed and appreciated.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Um, i don't really like angst. I think it would be Spark Me Up for Xmen. Professor X/Magneto angst with my first ever written smut. It was a remix of another person's fic for an exchange and they had an angsty ending so I kept it.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
The last installment in the Jail Break/Come Together Series -- Shine On You Crazy Diamond. In it, Peter's little sister Wanda comes into her powers and they go through a lot of pain before she settles into them. It ends with Peter's mom coming to stay with them and her, Peter, Wanda, Erik, and Charles becoming one big family. I've had several people tell me it made them cry lol.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've written?
I'll write something like a set of characters from one fandom in the set up/premise of another fandom/piece of media. Like Dear Fen'harel is a crossover of Dragon Age with an old book called Dear Daddy Long Legs. But I don't combine different universes of different fandoms, it's too weird for me and I can't buy into it.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
took over and finished. We have an AU in our plans but so many other fics keep getting in the way! Sort of? I wrote the first part of a Solas/Maria/Varric series that@cartadwarfwithaheartofgold
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I did receive a weird, angry message on one of my Xmen fics because they didn't like a fight that had happened between two characters but didn't read till the end to see it resolved so the bitched at me for the fact that the fight was mean? Which made no sense. But other than that, nope.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes! Though it's not as much as my non-smut. I didn't write smut for so many years because I didn't think I knew how. I tried to write some out a few years ago and kept it to myself until one of my tumblr friends read it and said it was really good! So shout out to @salexectria, you're the reason why I write and publish smut!
I write all kinds of smut, from dub con to vanilla, from f/f, m/m, and ace spectrum characters. Its all about the characters and what would fit them/the situation more than it is about a specific type of sex.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
If I have, I don't know about it.
What's your all time favourite ship?
Ummmmmm, that's hard. I don't think I have an all time favorite. I will say that Charles/Erik (Professor X/Magneto) was my first ever "otp" that I got completely obsessed with. Actually, I have never been that obsessed with another pairing. I write pairings that I enjoy or that I want to see a certain dynamic from, but that doesn't make them my favorite above all others.
I do really love Solas/Cadash and I prefer Solas rare pairs like Solas/Dorian, Solas/Cassandra, and Solas/Josephine over Solavellan.
What's a WIP you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I will never not finish a WIP. I hate it when it happens, even though I know IRL gets in the way, but it's so frustrating for me as a reader. So I will finish all my fics. However, I am very slow and very busy so it may take a while.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and character voice. I also am really good at developing friendships and platonic bonds or the slow burn get-to-know-you part of a romance. Apparently I write good smut, though its very hard for me lol.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions and transitions and pacing.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
The only thing that bothers me is if they never put in a translations somewhere and you have to just kind of guess. I don't care about reading something in another language and having a footnote or a note at the end of the chapter. I do it all the time in DF. I do think that putting "said in {insert language here}" is a bit of a cop out.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
The first ever fandom I wrote for and never published was Harry Potter at 13. I wrote a story about a muggle neighbor who had to emergency babysit the baby Weasleys and was shocked by the magic. But I tried to submit it to a website that only published fic by application and it didn't get in and I was like "whatever, I'll just read fic" and then didn't touch fanfic again until I was . . .24 or 25 lol. I mostly focused on my original fiction.
What's your favourite fic you've written?
I can't possibly have one favorite. I do really love my Peter fics, especially The Sun Will Shine When Morning Comes. I love my ACO fic with Apollo!Alkibiades. I love my Solas/Cassandra friendship fic Time Does Not Bring Relief. And I love Dear Fen'harel, of course, because it has so many things I wanted to change for Solavellan or didn't find, as well as a good analysis of myself and how I deal with anger and sorrow and homesickness, ect. through Ellana.

Andraste’s Witch - Chapter 67 - SFW
Pairings: Slowburn Cullen x F!Witch!Inquisitor
Rating: M for later chapters which will include violence, PTSD, withdrawal, angst, body horror (think red templars), and possibly other stuff that I will be sure to tag. This is not actually a grimdark story, but I just wanna give people a heads up for stuff that will happen. There will also be fluff and friendship and magic (though to be fair, this is Thedas, so magic will not always be positive and very rarely as adorable as that last statement implied).
Genre: Action/Adventure with elements of romance
Summary: Finley has a rather unpleasant meeting with her demon.
Going for three chapters this month, lol. Thank you to everyone who reads, likes, reblogs, and comments! Ya’ll are awesome :3
Chapter Warning: mentions of child abuse.
Andraste’s Witch
Fragile Dreams
Spires of uneven green rock floated in the sky, with a few smaller, loose rocks punctuating the empty air. The path she was on snaked out into nothingness ahead, a few haphazard attempts at buildings hanging near, but not connected to it. Wisps played in the distance, darting after one another, an occasional arc of magic crackling between them as they teased and played.
And above it all, the Black City hung, it’s dark outline somehow standing out against the void around it.
The Fade was a bit more obvious than usual, almost clear—it was still too bright and too fuzzy, yet somehow she felt almost like she’d been drawn back into the Fade physically. Solas had mentioned that there were likely to be more side effects for the mark. Could this be one? Could it somehow draw her closer into the Fade?
The mere idea of it made her uneasy.
She tried to think back to her last memories. They’d started the trek to Denerim. Despite wanting to cuddle up to Cullen every night, he’d pulled her aside the morning they were to leave and explained that it would look unbecoming for her to be so intimate with her general. It would look like their relationship had sway over opinions and decisions.
Finley didn’t quite understand that, but she’d asked Josephine casually about it—she hoped it had been casually, as she didn’t want to get Cullen in trouble—and Josephine and Leliana had both confirmed it.
In the end, it boiled down to politics.
Josephine had seen Finley’s irritation and offered her that a quiet relationship out of the public’s prying eyes wouldn’t be so frowned upon.
Finley didn’t see that it mattered. If they both did their jobs, what did it matter if they were sleeping together?
And why couldn’t they on the trip up? It was just sex. It wasn’t like she was demanding he march the templars a certain way or she would flit off in the middle of it to leave him to please himself.
He was right there, and yet she was expected to treat him like any other person in the Inquisition.
It frustrated her more than she would have expected.
Curious. I would not have expected you to fall so readily for a templar.
Her stomach turned at that familiar non-voice, that echo in her mind that never quite reached her ears.
Whirling around, Finley grew still.
A desire demon—her desire demon—lounged a short ways behind her, the demon playing with a wisp and swooped and danced around her hands and horns, like a pet of some kind. With a wave of her hand, the wisp flitted off into the sky, disappearing with surprising quickness.
As Finley’s gaze snapped back down to the demon, breath held that the creature might have drawn closer, she found her still relaxed, though her dark eyes were on Finley, unblinking.
Long nails tapped lazily against an imitation of a large, mossy rock that she had seated herself on.
Finley knew that rock. It was one of her favorites in the Wilds.
She didn’t like the demon resting there, even if it was just an echo of the real thing.
What bothered her, more though, was that she hadn’t felt the demon’s presence, hadn’t even known she was being watched. Did that mean that the fear demon she’d felt after her before might still be watching her as well?
How exactly did Solas’ charm work?
You needn’t fret. You are safe.
Despite herself, she was almost disappointed that the demon still bore the telling traits of desire. After a few of Finley’s talks with Solas on the way back from the Wilds about how perception played a great role in what was seen in the Fade, she’d half wondered if she would see the creature differently, but the creature was still a desire demon, horns curving up and away from a ghostly face, black eyes with slit, white pupils watching her.
Always watching…
Finley wasn’t sure what to do. It had been years since the demon had come directly into her dreams like this. She knew Finley didn’t want her around.
The creature stretched languidly and sat up finally, appraising her carefully.
We must talk.
The words had been serious, echoing far less than most things did in the Fade, as though they were trapped in a small space. Her demon had never done this sort of thing before, though Finley had heard of it. She’d heard horror stories of other mages facing demons in their Harrowings, of how the demons manipulated the world to pull them in. To be let in.
That was not about to happen.
Frowning, Finley whirled away from the demon, only to find the scene she’d just turned away from in front of her. Echoes of both Donovan’s and Solas’ suggestions to confront the creature whispered in the back of her mind—no doubt easy for the creature to read—but Finley rejected them.
Once you preferred me, you know. The demon let out a wistful sigh. You asked for me. You wanted your mother to bring her ‘black eyes’ back. There was an odd fondness in those words.
The world around them shimmered and twisted and suddenly between the two of them, Finley saw a tiny, child’s version of herself, sitting with her mother—with the demon wearing her mother.
“Bird,” the demon murmured as she patted a finch on the head with a finger.
Finley’s tiny hands wrung together as she inched closer, whispering the word. “Bir.”
“Bird,” the demon reiterated.
Tentatively, Finley patted the bird, a little roughly, on the back. With a shiver, it took flight, soaring off into the sky. Finley watched it with wide, wondering eyes, a single laugh slipping out before she hushed herself, looking at her mother, as though to see what the response would be.
The demon simply smiled and drew her closer, holding her in her lap and petting her hair.
Finley stared up at the sky, watching the great blue stretch out overhead. “Bir…”
Pulling her attention away from the quiet moment, Finley scanned their surroundings, feeling dread curling inside of her. She couldn’t stay here. She searched the air and their surroundings for signs that a spell was in place. If she dispelled it, she could leave…
You will not ignore me today.
Finley glanced at the creature to see her past the frozen memory, standing close to the conjured image of a peaceful Finley with…that.
Finley took a careful step back.
Child, you test me.
“I’m not a child.” Finley hissed, despite herself.
More images burst to life around them, of her mother’s possessed form rocking her when she was little, teaching her other words, patting her head and telling her she would keep her secret if she cried.
Even as panic began to roil in her, Finley shook her head. Even as she tried not to let herself get swept up in the memories spilling forth around her, her gaze happened on her hand. Even here in the Fade, her hand was marked with that same, shimmering green.
An idea sprung to life, and abruptly she brought up her left hand, clenching her fist. The mark crackled and the images melted away.
For a moment, the two of them were silent. It was easily the first time that she’d ever directly challenged the demon in such a manner, and she felt fear prickling up her spine.
The demon looked mildly put out, though she simply shook her head. I told you not to fret. I’ve already rummaged through enough minds to know that children are rarely grateful to their parents. There was a hint of indignance in that last bit.
Shaking her head, Finley glared. “You’re not—”
Before she could finish, the demon was in front of her, almost nose to nose. She motioned around them as though she might bring back those earlier memories. Who fed you? Who bathed you? Who taught you your first words? Who kept them from drowning you in every puddle they came across?
Without meaning to, Finley winced at the last part, remembering her father’s complaints clearly. The Fade brought them back, a harsh, crisp edge to his disdain.
“Better to drown the rat than let that thing keep playing with it.”
Finley didn’t want to do this. She didn’t want to delve into the past, into all the things that had happened. She didn’t like to think back to before her time with Ser Caudry and the others.
Her host was of another mind. I have cared for you your whole life, even if you pretend you don’t remember. I’ve kept you safe from demons and mages alike.
The words were a challenge, an assertion that she could neither flee from nor ignore. The words ‘don’t cry’ echoed in her head as she tried not to panic. She took in a slow, ragged breath, meeting the creature’s stare. “Don’t pretend you never hurt me.”
For an instant, the demon looked truly, honestly distressed by the accusation. Her gaze broke away from Finley’s as though rummaging through her own memories. Then, at length, the creature shook her head. I did not. I protected you.
Finley stiffened. “You told him my blood would help his spells.”
I never bled you. I held you safe.
Without thinking, Finley’s face twisted with anger. “If not for you, he wouldn’t have bled me, hurt me, at all!”
He would have done far worse had I not intervened.
“It still hurt!”
The Fade twisted at her words, cracks shooting through the rock around them, jagged and empty. Everything felt too empty. There wasn’t enough air in the Fade, though that shouldn’t have been much of a surprise. Funny that she would need so much in a dream, though…
Stepping back, the demon looked truly unsettled by Finley’s words, as though they were some great revelation. Finally, her voice whispered out, far fainter than usual. He needed a reason to keep you.
Finley’s shoulders shuddered. “No, he didn’t.”
Children are supposed to stay with their parents.
“Not when they’re murdering, sadistic monsters!”
At that, the demon did something she hadn’t expected. Her eyes widened and then she looked away, as though searching for something and finding the Fade empty of it.
Finley felt light-headed and sick.
Could this thing in front of her really have never realized what she was doing was wrong?
The memories of the boy being let go, of all the others who had died when she didn’t want them to, came bubbling back. She tried not to think, not to let the Fade catch hold of them and bring them to the surface to be reenacted.
I do not know how to fix what has been done.
“You can’t.” The words were barely a whisper. She needed to wake up.
For a moment, the demon looked so incredibly hurt. The world around them shifted, the rocks more spiked than before, as though reflecting the creature’s distress. With both of them miserable, the Fade itself seemed to crumble away.
I could… She stopped herself with a sigh. You would not accept that.
The creature looked disappointed when Finley didn’t ask about what she had thought of. Disappointed, but not surprised.
I will leave you to your dreams of that pretty thing you curl up with at night, the demon offered, though the fact that she knew of Cullen left a bit of a pit in Finley’s stomach, but—
“You can’t hurt him.” Wake up, wake up, wake up…
The demon shrugged her command away as though it were nothing. Instead, her tail flicked behind her, agitated. After what looked to be an internal debate, finally, she turned away, flicking her hands up in defeat. Much more of this and I will forget why I drew you here.
Finley tensed, though the creature either didn’t notice her fear or ignored it.
This king you seek to ally yourself with. He considers himself a witch hunter. The demon stopped a few feet away, glancing back over her shoulder. He fears neither Flemeth nor her daughters, and will not care if blood does not tie you to them. And more than that, he has evidence of who your blood does tie you to.
For a moment, the Fade was eerily silent.
Finley was having trouble concentrating. The world spun, and she was rather sure it wasn’t just a whim of the Fade. Wake up…
“Why tell me this?”
For the same reason I drew you out of the Nightmare’s realm. For the same reason I always… The demon trailed off, looking forward again, body rigid.
“I never asked for your help.” Finley clarified, feeling that usual dread bubbling back up. “I owe you nothing.”
The demon let out a half laugh at that. It rang bitter, though when she spoke again, she didn’t argue. One last word of advice, whether you take it or not… The king and your newest playmate have seen eye to eye in the past. He may have left that Order of his, but he’ll always be a hunter, and we both know what you are.
No sooner had the words been spoken, the Fade shifted to something resembling sprawling fields, with large trees climbing lazily toward the heavens.
Finley’s eyes snapped open, and she jerked upright, her breath catching in her throat. Someone help her, but she couldn’t breathe. It was as though the air had been squeezed out of her lungs while she was in the Fade. No wonder she’d been so lightheaded.
Even as she tried to breathe, she felt something twisted around her ankles legs.
Half-awake as she was, she was sure the templars were making their move.
She flailed against the restraints, kicking and clawing until they came undone and fell away from her. As she dragged herself away, looking about at her surroundings to see how many of her attackers there were, she slowly realized that she was in her tent. As he gaze snapped back to her discarded bindings, she found her blanket, bunched up and torn in a few places.
“Inquisitor?”
She jerked her attention toward the flap of her tent, hunching closer to the ground. She didn’t know that voice.
“Are you alright?”
“Go away.” She snapped back.
There was a shuffle outside, and then the shadows moved to rearrange themselves across the tarp separating her from whoever that had been.
There were too many people here…
With barely a thought, she ducked out the back of the tent as quietly as she could and wove her way through the shadows until she found a sizable tree at the edge of camp.
Only when she was perched safely in the upper branches did her heart finally begin to slow. The wind was sharper and stronger in the upper branches, and she gulped down that cold, clear bliss. As the fears and fight drained out of her, she leaned back against the trunk, closing her eyes.
She wouldn’t get any more sleep tonight.
She heard what sounded like the whimper of a wounded animal, and even as she stopped to wonder what it was, she realized that she was the one making that noise. Tears spilled unwanted down her cheeks, and her chest heaved, even as she tried to tell herself to stop being so pitiful.
This was that stupid demon’s fault.
There was no way what she’d said had really been news. She’d thought those things so many times, it should have been able to pick up on them so long ago. That it could sit there and pretend like that…
Vile thing.
Vile liar.
Like she would trust something so wicked. Josephine had told her of the king’s mannerisms already. He did not like mages, but that hardly made him a witch hunter.
And Cullen…
Cullen was a good man. He wouldn’t…
“Finley?”
She nearly fell from her perch as the word broke through the quiet.
Curling in on herself, she dared a glance to her left to find Sera half hanging from one of the branches near her, brow pinched together, eyes gleaming in the darkness.
Relief flood through her, and she shuddered as she slumped against her drawn-up legs, resting her forehead on her knees.
The branch she was on creaked as Sera settled onto it in front of her. When she finally had the strength to lift her head up, Sera was leaning toward her, worried.
“If…” Sera trailed off a moment before pointing down at the camp. “You got someone bothering you, you let me know, yeah?”
Finley took in a few deep breaths before forcing an awkward smile. “Going to steal their breeches?”
“Pft,” Sera scoffed softly, frowning. “Deserve more than that for hurting you.”
Even as Sera mumbled something about candlewax in their ears, Finley reached up and ran her fingers through her hair. Her pinky caught on a twig caught in her tangles, and she frowned, reaching up to work it loose.
“So?” When she realized Sera was watching her expectantly, Sera rolled her wrist as though to drag information out. “What’s got you fleeing camp in the dead of night to cry in old trees?”
As she finally got the twig loose—with a few lonely strands of orange still caught around it that made her scalp sting for an instant—she sighed and dropped it. She opened her mouth to respond, though nothing came at first. Finally, she shook her head. “Bad dream.”
“Oh, hate those,” Sera offered, relaxing a little as she settled more comfortably on the branch, only to scowl and awkwardly half fall, half swing herself to another when it creaked ominously. When she was safely perched on a nearby branch so that they could still talk, she leaned against the trunk. Then, almost instantly, she perked up. “Best way to get rid of nasty feelings up here,” she tapped her head, “is to do something good. Something fun.” She drummed her fingers against the branch as she peered down. “Gotta be something we can do. Something that won’t hurt nobody, but could cause a laugh or two… We could—”
“Inquisitor?”
That was a familiar tone that normally would have sent a shiver up her spine. However, now, as Finley peered down to see Cullen standing at the edge of camp, peering around—with an occasional look up, though he hadn’t spotted them yet—she couldn’t help but remember what her demon had said.
He’ll always be a hunter.
“Wanna stay quiet ‘til he goes away?” Sera asked, frowning down toward the man.
She was a bit surprised how much she wanted to say yes, though instead she shook her head. “They’ll…” she didn’t like the words that came next, “need to know where I am.”
“Piss,” Sera muttered. “Point of that is to keep you safe, yeah? I got you up here.” She gave Finley a reassuring nod, though she sighed when Finley did. “Alright. Don’t tell him I’m here though. Had to sit through a whole speech about proprieties and necessities and all that shite. Didn’t listen to half of it, but got the gist. They don’t want me near their precious nobles. ‘fraid I might ruin something shiny and new.”
Even as Finley let out a soft laugh, Sera rolled her eyes and motioned down. “I’ll wait ‘til you lead him off, then.”
Carefully, Finley went down the tree, twisting around to the side furthest from Cullen and slipping quietly to the ground.
As she turned around, she just about had a heart attack when she turned to find Cullen mere feet behind her.
He’ll always be a hunter.
“You needed something?” She asked, trying to sound as innocent as she could.
Rather than answer right away, Cullen breached the distance between them and reached out to cup her cheek. “I received word that something was wrong, and when I came to check on you, you were missing.” His thumb stroked her skin softly. “You’re pale and…” He didn’t point out the obvious that she’d been crying.
A million different thoughts raced through her mind, so jumbled that they did little more than leave her feeling sick.
“Cullen, did you ever—” Her voice cut off as she started to ask about what the demon had said about him agreeing with King Cousland.
She was being ridiculous. There was no reason to listen to that monster.
None.
It was just trying to steal one more person from her, like it always did.
Without thinking, she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him, pressing her face against his tunic’s shoulder. For a breath, he stilled and she thought he would protest about all that damnable professionalism and the like.
Instead, he wrapped his arms around her, fingers in her hair and holding her close as he bowed his head, pressing a soft kiss to her head.
“Things will work out in our favor in Denerim.” His voice was calm and confident, though she felt his heart beat a little faster and knew he was making it up as he spoke. “We’ve done a lot for Ferelden already, so I don’t see how anyone can argue against the good we’ve done.”
Despite his reassurances, and his offers of Ser Barris knowing nobles and Josephine being quite good at what she did and the like, Finley’s mind couldn’t stay focused.
Even as she rested against him, her mind kept going back to what the demon had said.
There were so many questions that came with that, and she wanted to ask them all, to clear the air and know beyond a doubt that Cullen was the man she thought he was, that he was good and kind, as he’d proved to be over and over.
Yet…
Yet asking any of them felt like she was letting the demon influence her, and ridiculous as it was, that scared her more than anything else.
After all, she’d promised herself, hadn’t she? Again and again, as her world expanded and fell apart.
She would never fall to a demon’s sway.
Never.
Even if she was a demon’s daughter.

tagged by @thevikingwoman. thank you!! <3
Author Name: galadrieljones (gala)
Fandoms You Write For: Currently Red Dead Redemption 2, but I’ve written a LOT for Dragon Age: Inquisition, also Horizon: Zero Dawn and The Last of Us.
Where You Post: AO3 and tumblr
Most Popular One-Shot: I’m not totally sure. I don’t do a great job of keeping count. My little story “Unsigned” about an unnamed Lavellan who has Solas’s baby, and then gets a letter from him asking if he can see her, is definitely up there. In terms of overall popularity, Yours, Sadie Adler is a more popular one-shot across platforms (tumblr and AO3 combined).
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: Still The Dead Season (DA:I, Solavellan), just in terms of sheer numbers. But TDS is quite old by now. In terms of popularity to progress, The Lily Farm (RDR2, Arthur x Mary Beth) has surpassed TDS by quite a bit. Which is surprising to me, because it’s a rare pair. I’m so thankful?
Favorite Story You Wrote: Usually my favorite thing I’ve ever written is the thing I’m writing now, which would be The Lily Farm. But like viking, I love all my stories. Though sometimes I do still think about the little one-shot where Solas and Sene meet for the first time (“Nobody”) and the one-shot where they kiss for the first time (“The Party”). Those are big moments that never made it into TDS, because they’re backstory, and I really love how I wrote them. I miss my tol elves. But they’re safe, and that’s what counts.
Story You Were Nervous to Post: I usually still get nervous when posting any and all smutty chapters/fics. Idk. I have the least amount of experience writing erotica, so I feel like I’m still learning and gaining confidence.
How Do You Choose Your Titles: Obsessively. Lol. I love titles. For me, titles play a roll in the message of the fic or chapter. Sometimes, they come very fast. Sometimes, they take some real thought. Usually, I title my chapters or fics after a recurring theme or image. So like, my latest chapter of The Lily Farm is called “The Wayward Minister.” This harkens to something Hamish says in an earlier chapter when he’s giving Arthur advice about his wedding. It also most obviously gestures to Reverend Swanson, who is a main character in the chapter and a very important thematic character in the game. But it also subtly points to Dutch, a “different kind of minister,” and how Dutch is notably ABSENT at the time of Arthur’s wedding (ie: wayward). So like, there are TWO wayward ministers in the chapter, and a hint toward a line from a previous chapter. Sorry there is usually a lot going on with my titles lol
Do You Outline: No. I usually just hold the story in my brain, which means it changes shape over time, but that’s okay with me. I also tend to plan just by sketching out important scenes ahead of time. I will rarely write down summaries of what I’m writing. I definitely don’t chart or list. For me that is all very stifling.
Complete: ?? I have completed a couple of chapter WiPs: The Dead Season and Last Call. Outside of fandom I have completed one (1) very big fantasy novel that is currently in a drawer. I have a million completed little fics and short stories I have no intention of counting them lol.
In-Progress: The Lily Farm and also technically Zero (HZD, Aloy x Nil), which I still have deluded myself into thinking I’ll get back to some day.
Coming Soon: More Lily Farm. Also a sequel to Yours, Sadie Adler that I’ve been cooking up for some time. But it’s hard for me to switch back and forth between my Happiness AU and then the sadness of what happens in canon. Honestly it’s like emotionally distressing :’)
Do You Accept Prompts: Yes, always. I like to work from an overflowing backlog. It gives me little things to do when I feel like writing in bits and pieces, and not worrying so much about editing.
Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: I am really excited to just keep going with Lily Farm? I have many things in store? I love my readers because they are emphatic. They’re always like, FUCKING DUTCH FUCK YOU DUTCH and they are great defenders of my sweet darling children Arthur and Mary Beth. I love surprising them and bringing them new updates. It makes me so happy.

Ship-a-thon!
tagged by @idrelle-miocovani and @pikapeppa, and I’m finally getting around to it!! Thank you!!
1. First ship you ever wrote fic for:
Technically it was self-insert fic for the Backstreet Boys, *NSync, and Hanson in like, 1997. More realistically, it was Solavellan, summer of 2016.
2. Ship you write the most now:
Right now, I’m pretty much only writing Arthur Morgan x Mary Beth Gaskill for the Red Dead Redemption 2 fandom (in a fast-growing chapter fic called A Funeral). Ships I meaningfully hope to get back to are Aloy x Nil (Horizon: Zero Dawn) and Sene x Ameridan (I still have a lot up my sleeve for them). I feel Sene and Solas have mostly been retired, at least in their canon divergent fix-it iteration. But of course, with DA4 developments, I am always likely to get back to their more tragic, awful canon circumstances. Lol.
3. Ship you read the most now:
When I read fanfic, I still mostly read Solavellan and Dragon Age fanfic, especially now that, for the time being, I’ve moved on from writing for the fandom. I try to stick faithful to my friends who are magnificent DA writers. I’m slowly combing my way through fics by @ladylike-foxes @bearly-tolerable @ellstersmash and @buttsonthebeach right now, and of course I always look forward to @thevikingwoman‘s Temporal Arrangements updates <3 Note that I am MASSIVELY slow when it comes to reading, particularly catching up on longfics, so you may not know I’m there at all till I whisper my way into the comments section all at once when I catch up....
4. Newest ship:
Arthur Morgan x Mary Beth Gaskill, Red Dead Redemption 2. This is a very rare pair, and I’m stoked for the readership I’ve accumulated so far at AO3 (and to a MUCH lesser extent, on tumblr). I’m not altogether sure why it’s so rare lol, but Mary Beth IS a low profile character for sure, and most of the fic I see for Arthur seems to be the second person Reader x Arthur, which is a sub-genre I’m not terribly familiar with. I do have theories that Mary Beth might have been the originally planned love interest for Arthur, and I know I’m not alone in that at least. There just aren’t a lot of other content creators for the ship right now, which is fine lol. I’m cool being the captain of this ship.
I also have some newer ships that I love, even if I don’t actively ship them? Like Arthur x Charles and Arthur x Albert Mason. I REALLY like viewing these as complex platonic relationships, particularly Arthur and Charles, who I see as platonic comrades fighting in a losing war (never romantic), but I’ve seen some beautiful art and writing for both of these as romantic ships and really like to see what people come up with.
5. Rare ship you wanna read more of:
I’d love to see some more Ameridan x Lavellan ships out there!! I know they exist. I also am definitely meaning to get into @a-shakespearean-in-paris‘s Arthur x Charlotte fic, another RDR2 rare pair.
6. Your taboo ship:
Most of the time, I give no fucks about what people want to ship. The only thing that legitimately freaks me out is Joel x Ellie from The Last of Us. That, to me, is gnarly af and I’m actually like, morally opposed to the pairing. I’m definitely a little squicked by Arthur x Dutch in RDR2, though I don’t have any moral issues with it. I just don’t like it personally. In the end, 99.9% of the time, I say ship and let ship.
7. They never met in canon ship:
I don’t think I have one of these. Unless you count Solas x Ghilan’nain. Though I guess they DID meet in canon? Idk lol.
8. Your unexpected ship:
Lavellan x Ameridan and Lavellan x Abelas. Tbh when I first got here, I never understood these sorts of canon divergent ships. It was bizarre to me. But after hanging out for a year or so and finding new ways to explore the story, I ended up being so fascinated by the prospect of Sene in a post-Trespasser world, attempting to move on from Solas, and her complicated relationships with other ancient and quasi-ancient elves.
Also, Aloy x Nil for HZD. This ship grew out of my own writing and not really much out of the game. I think Nil’s role in Aloy’s life is supremely unique, and I explored it in a one-shot, which became a yet-unfinished chapter fic that I’d really like to get back to one day.
9. The ship you always forget to give love to:
Morrigan x Warden Cousland. I feel like I don’t see a ton of other Morrigan x Warden ships (except you @buttsonthebeach!!) and I have always loved the complexities of the ship.
10. Ship your OC with a canon character (if applicable):
See #8 lol. I’ve shipped Sene Lavellan with every ancient elf there is lol. I’ve also got a Lavellan x Blackwall ship, which I wrote about briefly in my probably-abandoned fic Unsigned.
I’ve also got a very loose concept for an OC x Joel ship in The Last of Us that I never wrote about. Her name is Cynthia. She’s a widow, and she’s got a sixteen-year-old son. The two find their way to Tommy’s compound in Jackson at some point post-TLoU. I had an idea for a canon divergent fic in which Joel and Cynthia get married, and shortly thereafter, during an attack on the compound, Joel and Cynthia’s son end up captured and held hostage by the Fireflies. Cynthia and Ellie then must set out on a journey to rescue them. Cynthia is a skilled trap-maker, a little like Bill, but even more specialized. She teaches Ellie how to make some badass traps. Add this to my long list of fics I would love nothing more to write, but I have no time to write them.
11. Ship you’re embarrassed to ship:
I’m a grown-ass woman I have no embarrassment lol.
12. Your most romantic ship:
Sene and Solas. But also maybe Arthur x Mary Beth. I’m not sure which is more “romantic.” I don’t really do “sweep me off my feet whirlwind romance” writing. Though, of course, they’re romantic in some sense.
13. Your sexiest ship:
That would be Sene Lavellan x Ameridan, for sure.
14. Your most tragic ship:
Ugh. Probably Sene Lavellan x Abelas. I have not written as much about them as I should have. Their story is quite complete in my mind and has a few endings.
My Nume Lavellan x Blackwall ship is also pretty sad.
15. A ship you want more content for:
I always want more Iwyn Lavellan x Solas content by @thevikingwoman. In any and all forms, though my favorite story for them so far is Temporal Arrangements. <3

Getting to Know Me
thanks for the tag @dragynfox. i don’t think i’ve done this one before. ^_^
Rules are: answer the questions and tag ten people you want to know better.
name: call me gala
gender: female
star sign: Aries
height: 5′3″
age: 33
wallpaper on my phone: A picture of my husband and my kid and me in the snow
house: My Hogwarts house? Gryffindor! Bleh I would have been jersey-chasing Harry so hard.
ever crush on a teacher: Yes. A professor i had in graduate school. Very original, i know lol.
coolest halloween costume: I dressed up as Angela Chase from My So-Called Life several years ago for a costume party in LA. It was basically a pretty detailed cosplay with everything from the hair right down to the like, flannel tied around my waist and the red Doc Martens (I rarely dress up so when I do I go all out lol). Anyway, most people didn’t know who Angela Chase was, so they just assumed that was how I looked and accepted me for who I was lmao. I was surprised! But it was a hilarious night.
Favorite 90’s tv show: Lol, see above? I love My So-Called Life. But actually I love A LOT of 90s TV shows. Most of my favorite shows are from the 90s. Buffy, Party of Five, Dawson’s Creek, The X-Files. Just keep going.
last kiss: My kid, and my hubs.
have you ever been stood up: No? Idk I’ve never actually dated. I was typically a serial monogamist all through high school and college. I was the girl who always had a boyfriend.
favorite pair of shoes: Birks. I have two pairs I love them. But in the winter I love my red Doc Martens (same ones I wore for Halloween lol) and also these neat Jeffrey Campbell sneakers with like, crazy gold metal spikes and lions heads all over them. I splurged on them several years back and they’ve been totally worth it lol.
have you ever been to vegas: Yes, several times. My husband used to go a lot, and whenever he goes, he gambles quite a bit? Lmao you wonder where I get my Solas inspiration. Anyway, he’s spent a lot of money at a couple of the casinos in particular, so we get comped rooms during several off-season times of the year? We’ve only used them once, but it’s SO FUN. I love Vegas. SO MUCH.
favorite fruit: Apples (Honeycrisp!!)
favorite book: Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry, The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Tender Morsels by Margo Lanagan
stupidest thing you’ve ever done: Uhhhhhhhhhh. I am not much of a risk-taker but once in grad school I did something that takes the cake. Let’s just say it involved...being somewhere we were not supposed to be. (We didn’t like steal anything and nobody was hurt lol, but it was just fucking dumb.)
all time favorite shows: The Sopranos, Twin Peaks, Twin Peaks: The Return, The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, Gilmore Girls
last movie you saw in theaters: hhahahahahahha. Idk. I honestly think it was American Sniper when I was about six months pregnant. We never go to movies. The last movie we watched overall was Ladybird and it was imperfect in every way but it messed both of us up for different reasons, so there’s that lol.

Are you Surprised? Why or why not?
I am not surprised. I think I’m doing okay. I usually only reblog my things once. I get very shy about that and am awkward with promoting myself. I am trying to improve my self image in this way, and to reblog my stuff more. I actually just started doing that today, and I got like a 20+ note boost on Nobody. Self-promotion on tumblr is so key. I am trying!!
Most of my least popular things are Teen Wolf things. This makes sense, as it’s basically a rare pair, and it’s not always romantic, and it’s YA, and my Arlathan vision is very different than what many people expect or have come to hope for at this point. I also rarely reblog them. I don’t know. I just...I tend not to self-promote those at ALL. The whole thing is experimental. If people like it, I’m stoked. If they don’t, it’s okay. That said, Young, my most recent Teen Wolf piece, got over fifty notes last week! I was very excited. I don’t know why this is, other than the fact that I’m probably getting better, and maybe it’s just more charming than the others, it has a recognizable premise (young Solas pissing magic), and people are getting used to my Arlathan aesthetic. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Literally I have no idea. But I really loved writing it, so I’m glad ppl like reading it.
Two of my most popular pieces are Sene and Solas doing something for the first time. I will admit those are two of my favorite little Sene and Solas pieces, and I’m very glad they’ve gotten some attention. Also, I think I’m kind of like the domestic kink girl around here, so my NSFW stuff is not as popular (or as copious, or as good, honestly) as my fluff. Also, the Lizard Cookies Bit and Ghosts are both Solas/Sera banter, in which Solas is being kind of a charming asshole. I pride myself on that characterization lol, so I’m glad it’s working out. I actually totally forgot about Creatures of Habit, but I’m glad people liked it! I like it, too. I just reread it, and it has one of the better endings I think I’ve ever put together for a little smutty piece. Pancakes!
I don’t have the wherewithal to average my notes out. But it is currently July 20, 2017.
I’ll tag @thevikingwoman @redinkofshame @ma-sulevin @kaoruyogi @5ftgarden @idrelle-miocovani @littleblue-eyedbird @dragynfox @katalyna-rose @elfsplaining @fadedforyou @fatale-distraction and anyone else who would like to do this. I’m sorry if you’ve already been tagged. Only if you want, of course. <3
