idk dude im thinking a lot about the infighting and lateral ableism within neurodivergent communities
i definitely understand that adhd and autism are seen as the more "palatable" neurodivergencies. i agree that most conversations focus on us and exclude people with stigmatized disorders. it's a valid criticism of the way these spaces that should welcome all NDS erase and demonize some of the most vulnerable ones.... but at the same time its not black and white issue
my adhd manifests extremely similarly to a lot of more stigmatized neurodivergencies. when people talk about autism and adhd as the "trendy" NDs they are overwhelmingly not talking about people who have symptoms like mine. i thought i had BPD for years because almost NO adhd spaces want to acknowledge the intense emotional dysregulation and RSD episodes that cause you to lash out, to scream and cry and fight with your loved ones when you get triggered, the spiraling thoughts of everyone hating you that makes you hate everyone in turn. doctors don't fucking care about it either, because "well you can hold a job and be productive so you don't need any more treatment."
i relate to so many people's experiences with bpd/bipolar disorder and feel just as ostracized from ND spaces for it, but because my symptoms are caused by adhd instead i get targeted as part of the problem. its tiring
