north people are so funny bc they'll see you talk about techniques to get rid of mosquitoes and go "why would you do this 🥺 mosquitoes are trying to survive 😔 you're destroying the ecosystem" like they're completely unaware of epidemics such as dengue that the southern hemisphere has been trying to fight against since fucking world war two

#genuinely gary im not trying to throw you under the bus #but i mean hell I'm not even in the tropical south and my community has severe mosquito born illness that kill dozens of us every wet season #we've only in the past year been able to get our mosquito population down enough to make us able to go outside during the rainy season-#during an outbreak #and it's still not down enough because once the rainy season rolls around we're right back where we are #not even bringing up that a lot of my city has mosquito allergies due to this #/including/ myself #and that doesn't hold a fucking candle to what they're dealing with further south
