Hunter X Hunter is still a Big Fav of mine but specifically like, early 1999 HxH (everything up until Greed Island, aka the Hunter Exam-Phantom Troupe arcs). It just has the best vibe and has massive nostalgic energies despite me having only watched it for the first time in high school.
Everything after that point is just me complaining that Kurapika and Leorio aren't there or that it's not still a story about the og 4 going on adventures together lol
#i just like Kurapika and Leorio better than Gon and Killua tbh but#yes my fav arcs are the ones w all 4 of them in the story#like omg the yorknew arc is so ancient at this point but it's my fav and has my fav vibe and#thinking abt hxh just makes me a lil sad that it'll never be like..... that anymore#i don't tend to like the gon+killua solo arcs cos they always feel a bit too tedious for me#they're very 'extended nen training' focused or introduce a bunch of new minor characters i don't care much about lol#chimera ant arc is v powerful for most people i know and i won't say it doesn't have some very strong and heartbreaking moments#but aaaaah it took me so long to get around to reading it and i was kinda just tapping my foot waiting for ir to be over mostly lol#i liked the komugi/meruem story. i objectively think gon and killua's development were very well done.#but i guess it's just not to my tastes cos i couldn't get that invested#i liked the election arc tho even if i skipped the start (omg i gotta rewatch it just for alluka i love heeerr)#hint it's cos leorio comes back hahaha#alluka is big plus tho. Killua big bro mode engaged.#anyway i haven't read anything past that even tho Kurapika's in the spotlight again cos it's veryyyyy convoluted.#like i said i miss yorknew and backwards!Kurapika + the character dynamics +the general vibe from back then#anyway umprompted hxh tag rant OVER#tldr i love hxh and the characters are still quite dear to me but i'm v lukewarm about everything after yorknew cos my tastes are SPECIFIC

I guess many people consider those as difficult topics, because in politics, as well as religions you have to pick sides and they don't like to be pinned down on opinions. The problem with those people is that they only see politics as politicians and religion as priests. Those things are created by humans and can sometimes fail. It's the mindset of most people, which makes those topics boring to them. They have a different perspective, because they're seeing only humans instead of the faith, the ethics, the basic idea, the love and everything that makes you feel alive. You know what I mean? It's like they are afraid to have opinions about those things, which I think is a bit sad… But how can anyone not like to talk about bands? I couldn't imagine to live without music
It's good to read that I'm not the only one thinking about Jethro Tull hearing the name of an old priest :D if you find out something interesting about him, please let me know, because I can't find my notes about him. Also I think you might have better sources than I did years ago. In general it's nice that you've also got invested in those kind of things :)
Oh yes, the OT is a challenge for the whole life… I hope you get along with your co-workers and the priest you are talking to. What was the last thing that surprised you the most during your readings?
I see, they all have different playing techniques and styles they prefer :) John Mayer is so popular among young guitarists, he's doing good work. Fingerstyle indeed is very difficult, looking at Chet Atkins e.g.
You make some good points, I think you're right in that, when these topics are brought, a ton of preconceived notions hardly relating to the religion/ideology poison the well before any real discussion begins. I know when I discuss this stuff with my longtime friends from my grade school days, they've watched me evolve into a dozen things as we've grown older, so they hardly take me seriously when I tell them I've changed my opinion on things like God and the like... I think there is also a politeness to avoid these subjects, but it's hard for me when these things bounce around him my head a lot. :/ Music wise, I just think my friends have shit taste and I'm sure they'd say the same for me 😋
I'll let you know, I like to pick these figures (like St. Augustine) and take some time to really understand them. So, I'll try to find some time to see what Jethro's all about :D ...One thing I found in my readings that fascinated me was just learning more about the nature of God's will. Most scholars point to Romans 2:15 if you're interested, which hints at our conscience participating in that directive. Pope Benedict XVI has a book called Jesus of Nazareth that has an interesting section on this subject in the Lord Prayer's examination.
Oh, for sure, I'd say John Mayer is probably the best going today from a contemporary sense. Chet Atkins is just a legend, his Beatles covers are really great. I'm already dreaming of spring/summer to go play some acoustic out in the woods again; I think I get my best song ideas out in the sun ☀️
