you'd think given how well researched and talked about augustus is as a historical figure, for obvious reasons, i wouldn't find obscure shit about him to obsess over, but you'd be wrong. i still have A Lot of thoughts about the perusine war and him de facto raising juba ii from age four onward and i shan't stop having them

#personal #the juba thing i Know i am the only person who cares about it #mostly because i seem to have more thoughts on mr 'if you get me annoyed on a day ending in y i'll kill you' and fatherhood #it's legal to kill your kid at birth in rome but he's fine with raising a daughter the same day he divorces her mother anyway?#would bet money on daddy issues if i'm being honest #but the juba thing is insane because when i was eighteen i was NOT capable of parenting a four year old #but i also don't wanna be god emperor of the world by age 30 #(i also have a lot of thoughts on his and cleopatra's relationship to each other but that's less Niche given history)
