looking hard at moreau & sophie's matching lines to jane in the season 2 finale (when jane brings sophie onto the getaway ship and when the others kidnap sophie from the getaway ship)--

firstly, sophie/george parallelism <3

secondly, the thing they both know is the same!!! that despite the words she is or isn't saying, what jane means is that she loves sophie. and they all know

thirdly, right after sophie's "i know" she yells at moreau to pull jane away from sophie & the others, out of danger, and moreau does. sophie and moreau don't know or like each other but they know this: jane loves sophie, she'll follow sophie into harm's way if she can, and neither of them will let her

#iirc in one of the commentaries it's said that the second exchange (sophie; i--/i know) is an homage to leia & han solo's exchange #'i love you/i know' in empire strikes back and i don't know if jane as she is in the s2 finale could've said 'i love you'#but i DO believe with my whole heart that that molten unexpressed sentiment is why she started to talk and couldn't finish #and i think maybe sophie's 'i know' had a different tone than han solo's. maybe there was a little bit of mercy in not making jane say it #i don't know if she DID really know how jane felt about her (when she sees otherjanes on the alien planet they don't talk to her #bc she doesn't know what jane would say to her if she were there) but maybe if this is the last time they ever see each other sophie doesn'#want jane to feel like they had unfinished business or that she said it wrong or couldn't say it. sophie knew #the pasithea powder
