i think I need to go to campus for a half day to do work, but I kind of don't want to and would rather use the excuse of parking being a nightmare due to the track and field junior olympics AND the construction happening next to my building

but that also means that I would need to take myself upstairs and do a good amount of work so that I feel good about things, which idk if I'm capable of because I have zero self-control rn and I would rather just read a novel

but also now that I don't have a pending job offer taking away my postdoc research funding on august 1, I'm under a lot less time pressure to do things, so maybe I just write for half an hour (because I'm in week 11 of a 12-week academic writing program and that's the minimum) and see how I feel

#re: junior olympics #how do you get to be 7-8 and into shot put. for example.#and also good enough at it to qualify for the junior olympics #like... high school i get. 14+ i get.#even middle school i guess.#but how are there second-graders going 'hell yeah i love shot put and the discus' or whatever #i mean tbf i think actually doing track and field is boring #i would run around the soccer field all day and i actually enjoyed doing suicides #but... just running to run?? idk man #and the other events just seem so esoteric #who's running around their elementary school gym class going 'yesss today is shot put day'#like it has to be a parental influence thing right
