i love hearing stories of failed space probes bc of the just cosmic bullfuckery of the universe at play. like what do you mean this stationary venus lander could not complete all of its mission because one of the fucking lens caps from its cameras fell directly underneath the probe, right where the drill goes, so they can't do any drilling

#it's so fucking funny to me like can you imagine sitting in the control room seeing this like #well we just lost millions of dollars of research equipment because the universe said fuck you specifically. time to start all over #like that just fucking sucks so hard it loops back around to being ridiculous and funny again #i can definitely see that being like. devastating to the people who worked so hard on that specific project #but going through a list of the 10000 failures that led up to finally getting a success some of them are just kinda ridiculous #like that's such a hyperspecific misfortune that it seems almost targeted 😭
