i think mizu5 foreshadows that ena is going to understand bc of the entire thing with the mystery escape room and how ena is the one who figures out that mizuki would have the final answer hidden among one of the stuffed animals bc that's "so like her" and /she was right/. yeah it ended up being in the stuffed animal hanging up from the ceiling, but mizuki herself says that this was touya's idea bc he wanted a twist, so ena technically figured it out?
the escape room and the key that should have been in reach which was moved out of reach due to the ideas of another person! it's not that toya is transphobic but i feel like the way he sort of co-opts mizuki's idea for the final answer of the escape room by inserting his own idea of a twist is meant to be analogous to how ena was almost about to grasp mizuki's own secret through mizuki herself and her language before mizuki got co-opted by her transmisogynistic classmates from a narrative standpoint.
it's the key ripped out of reach - oh, it's more "fun" if you make it more complicated unnecessarily even though that takes away the personal satisfaction. they remove mizuki's voice.
the escape room is genuinely so vital to understanding the intent? it's literally mizuki's heart. her shirt even has 3 symbols on it: maze, lock and key. it couldn't be more obvious. mizuki and locked rooms... if you read umineko, you'd understand...

oh transmasc mafuyu you have No idea. it's a fairly popular headcanon i'd say. it's definitely gotten more attention recently and i see fanart for it pretty regularly. it's very good food.
just. mafuyu beginning to find themself through music, writing about themself through the lense of the marionette again, realizing that there's a disconnect between the marionette and the real them that they can't quite place. they talk about it with kanade and over time they realize the disconnect is that the marionette doll is too... feminine. weird okay. maybe it has to do with her not wanting to be who her mom wants her to be, not only the perfect student but also the perfect daughter and one day, the perfect wife. maybe it also has to do with how they really can't see themself as a wife. they've never understood what their classmates mean when they talk about cute guys (they're aro and a girl liker but thats going to take them years to find out). but they just can't shake the feeling that something's not quite right. in the normal mafuyu way, they bring it up on a niigo call one night, having no idea that the topic is something taboo. mizuki gets suspiciously quiet when the topic is brought up, ena listens and tries her best but doesn't quite. Get it. and kanade does her best to talk them through it and help out.
and eventually, they figure out that they're not a girl.
before they go off to college, they cut their hair as a final act of rebellion. maybe they end up majoring in music too.
but yeah. transmasc mafuyu. my specific mafuyu gender thoughts tend to be more unlabled/nonbinary, but i also love trans boy mafuyu. i do see them using they/them though, maybe he/they or any pronouns. i just think there's no way they're cis
nodnodnod thank you i love them
the niigo call is so Cute. ya think because it goes so well by the end mizuki has a realization of 'maybe things won't go so bad'.
definitely not full reassurance, they're still terrified. but knowing they don't have to fear an outcry from their friends is a start
this was about mafuyu anyway Wahh i like kanade. always a helping soul yeah?
