I've seen comments on the Twitter about how Snow White was never that girl and she's boring and passive and too content to cook and clean for men, and that Rachel Ziegler's version is actually going to do better for the character. Didn't we used to do the same thing to Cinderella? Called her passive and weak and not girlboss enough to save herself and instead needed a prince to come rescue her? And then we realized that take was super wrong and shitty because it actually takes a lot of strength to survive such abuse and come out a good, kind person, and that she deserved her prince and her happily ever after. And that it was also reductive af to label her anti feminist because she wasn't some proactive, go-getter heroine who saved herself. So why are we now not affording the same grace to Snow White? Why are we suddenly going back to that old problematic viewpoint we once left behind? I'm genuinely baffled, especially since the general consensus is that the girlboss feminism Hollywood thinks is so progressive really isn't and that there is more than one way for female characters to be protagonists.
(Also, Snow White fighting to take back her kingdom has been done twice already AND there are multiple badass Disney princesses, so no need to act like you're changing the game and inventing feminism in the Disney space).

Truth be told, he didn't understand it either. What made people fear them? There were other kingdoms who spoke different languages and he knew they weren't treated like this. Maybe it did come down to looking different. "If yer askin' me, I don't think we are." "The market..." He used to go a little more often. He lit up for a moment only for that sparkle to dull and for fear to creep across his face. The last time he had gone... There was a reason they stuck to diamonds now and only to those who could be trusted. "Princess, I ain't so sure-" He could feel his heart starting to race. He could see the smashed stall and the stolen tinctures and herbs. He had worked so hard. Then he could feel the fists. Luckily they hadn't broken his glasses and dwarven people were made of hardier stuff, but it had still left bruises. It left nightmares, just like those tax collectors had. His fingers squeezed Snow White's hand for comfort. Maybe things could change. Maybe it would be different. He did feel a little braver around the princess... Doc exhaled in one abrupt gasp. "I used to shove the harket- uh, love the market. M-maybe I can love it 'gain... If yer gonna go, I'll go." His thumb drums against her knuckles gently. He's seen a lot of terrifying things. They've made Grumpy bitter. They've made Bashful a little more shy. Doc hasn't changed much; it just adds to his anxiety. "I'd like ta try... I wanna believe it'll be good out there."
“You may be a dwarf but you aren’t too different, right? I don’t understand why people isolate others based on that.” Snow shook her head, those thick black curls just bouncing. She quickly reached for one of Docs hands to hold, within both of hers.
even if she didn’t fully understand, she only wanted the best for him. The best for the rest of the dwarves. “I want you happy. And to not live in fear anymore. People are just mean, you shouldn’t let them get to you.”
A soft hum. “Would you accompany me to the village? They’re having a little, ah.. market?” Just to change the subject a bit.
