I was going through the dev quotes on a Discord server and I stumbled upon this. Which feels really interesting to me. It’s not a joke, it’s a lore hint. But a lore hint to what?

Well it got me thinking. Lock and Key are most likely Exaltia tech. Similar colouring, and an non-sentient one is seen used by Notha in her flashback, so while these thoughts don’t 100% line up, maybe it may lead to somewhere, y’all may have extra thoughts about it. But what else have Lock and Key shown a surprising amount of connection to?

The Mechquest timeline So hear me out What if Lock and Key existed prior to the Reset. Maybe not in their current state, but what if the data they contain still existed. Either it was placed in a new data storage unit after the Reset, or, since it’s implied by MQ’s ending that the Reset retroactively created much of DF Lore’s history, what if their data got recoded into what would become Lock and Key.

What if this data storage unit, whatever it was, was interacted with by the Mechquest Hero? That’s why their credentials already exist
