We can tell you're Canadian bc of the "ow" sound in house & about! It's pretty much the only noticeable difference between a Midwestern American and a general Canadian accent lol
I just spent the better part of five minutes recording myself saying these two words and trying to listen for the difference hjdfbvhs
I guess, on listening back, there is one, but to me it's so minor. Apparently it's real obvious to Californians and New Yorkers though...
#i think it may be that i'm really accustomed to hearing american accents on tv and stuff so the difference to me doesn't register super well#since i'm accustomed to them#but americans don't tend to hear as many canadian accents so i guess it stands out more#storyrambles#thanks for the ask!#actually that reminds me of this one guy in new york who we stopped to chat with because he had a vendor with some neat products#and he realized we were canadian and. immediately got really weird about it#like. tried to get us to say stereotypical 'aboot' and 'eh' and when we said no one actually says that he just straight up didn't believe u#and then got more forceful about it. like we were hiding our true accents from him. we eventually had to walk away because it got#way too uncomfortable.#really weird experience.
