So I was walking the field in gym earlier and listening to the Mechs while writing, and I came up with two insanely good ideas, in my opinion

Jonny claims to own the castle, and every time he does, everyone (including Aurora) yells at him that he just lives in it ("Your humble castle owner" "MF YOU JUST LIVE IN IT" *angry creaks from Aurora*)

AND ALSO, HERES THE IDEA FROM EARLIER... I REALLY LIKE IT. SO LIKE, what if Tim and Bertie fought in the war that dehomed Lyf and fucking exploded both sides because they just did not care if either side lived. And after, the two boys found Lyf as the only survivor and said, "Damn, you're strong," and took him with. So they all got out of there (Tim and Bertie were also war criminals after that, so they gotta go) and looked around till they found the castle and Jonny. Lyf is like super thankful for them sparing him, but kinda angry that they, yknow, blew up literally everyone else. This could also really tie well with the whole dynamic as Lumiere and Clocksworth, I think? (it's even funnier if we go with the stupid thing Lumiere does when he kisses Clockworth when he gets excited those few times)

I want to acknowledge that this started as a short tumblr post and is now the longest thread I've even laid eyes on, and I'm not joking

Rest of the Mechs are the servants in the Beast's house. With an exception for Marius as Gaston cause I can totally fucking see it. He would suck at it though because it's Marius. And also, short Marius HC.

This is probably not new. But it's been brewing in my head for a good few months, ever since I put my Mechs OC in the iconic Belle dress.

TPN Vol 13 (and some earlier volumes) Thoughts

I honestly thought there’d be more sort of... domestic fun times in the shelter with the dadsTM but Ig not, okay byeeee- (i wish i could be sad, come on brain)

I also just... they HAD to throw in that romantic sub...element before he died?? really? was that necessary? ugh. I felt like they could have done more of these flashes to the past earlier and then just reminded us of them here but... oh well.

Also Emma’s dreams give her therapy. I’m not sure if TPN is saying that these sort of visions are actually some sort of supernatural connection but I find the idea funny that Emma gives herself therapy in her dreams and just SENSES the timing of the explosion (again, weird “placing scenes inbetween other things that already happened”) - that was intense, but I just... I’m not huge on these outright CONVERSATIONS. I think for Ray’s hallucination it worked better because (and the german dub goes in on this even more) Norman just says things (even if a bit different) that were already said before, so it’s more of a.... coming together I guess.

That also kind of bothered me about the scene when Emma is passed out   in GP, it just felt a little “??”, thanks Emma for giving yourself a pep talk by imagining all of that. Ik she’s close to death BUT HOW DID SHE KNOW HOW PEOPLE DIED THAT SHE NEVER MET.

We kind of joked that since the eye necklace gives Emma that one experience on the water, it might be what triggers these things? but then again, it also happens earlier so probably not-

but it’s a fun little inside joke, “ah, there the eye goes again”.

STUPID KIDS- I mean yes let the kids be stupid sometimes but GOD WHY NOW, GO BACK- though ig if they had the mech owls, they might have easily found them again anyway. who knows.

BUT injuries actually persist and are dealt with instead of just time-skipping to when the person in question is okay again :) Emma’s stab had no weight, it was only there for Yugo’s arc and was not dealt with satisfyingly for me hh...

I didn’t talk about this I think because I didn’t note down things for that volume, but hh idk, she seemed PERFECTLY FINE when she got up again, which was hard for me to believe... and afterwards, we couldn’t have gotten one or a few chapter(s) showing the things Emma recaps happened while she was out? We couldn’t have gotten some angsty panels with unconscious Emma and people coming to her side? come on :(

Minerva time - obviously the secrecy is kinda ruined by the anime and by spoilers, but... idk... do people actually not find obscuring people... sus? I mean I GUESS the first time we saw the person with the hood, they also didn’t show his face SO I SUPPOSE it’s not completely unlikely that it’s just continuing to do that - but why would you not show it if it was actually James? He already had a face reveal. And the super harsh shadows on only him just look kind of awkward and hhh I DON’T KNOW-

As much as I like this scene as their introduction and I’m glad we get to see the mass production farm (the hug killed me), I also would have preferred them to omit him from it or just not show it NOW (they love their insert-scenes-in-hindsight stick way too much anyway) to commit to the “secrecy” approach for the audience. But maybe I just don’t get it. And I do like the scene so I’ll shut up and take it.

I will say... Barbara eating demon meat reveal in the anime... i liked that more tbh. Because we realize it with Emma and Ray and the way it frames the meat and her hate talk, it’s just MWAH-

Though they also have a lot more personality in the manga which I feel wouldn’t have hurt their anime counterparts.

I still pledge for a two year age-up for this story iduskhjds, it wouldn’t have hurt in general but also jsut because... imagining a 13 y/o dramatically pulling his hood off on a balcony in front of a crowd is just... not as epic to me as it’s supposed to be I think fuishdjs

And as much as the execution of the Norman reveal in the anime deserves to be dunked on and as awkward as the “walking up without saying anything” is... at least being in a demon community was a good reason to actually, yknow OBSCURE their faces and hide them naturally. I didn’t really think about this before BUT that actually makes a lot of sense and I like that more than the harsh shadow treatment.

I also always thought that the “Minerva” cover was supposed to make them come to him, which I GUESS it did, but he had his messages anyway (the way I thought it went was that he had no way to contact them, so he took that cover so they’d come find him eventually and stuff) and ALSO sent people out to find them so I guess it wasn’t the only reason - I suppose it’s also for other children/humans who know Minerva. I actually really like this element, I think it’s neat. I just thought it wouldn’t be this.... in your face and more sort of... not showing him at all until they meet him.

I also hope he actually told the squad his name is James, he’s just like a completely different person, actually sadssda.

I just find it funny to think about Lucas hearing some young soft-spoken boy, maybe barely being grazed by puperty voice and going, “yup, thats the same person as I heard on the phone with Emma :)” just. how. like if he didn’t think so I would have assumed he’d mentioned it.

Also another case of “we didn’t hint this, we didn’t show this off to the side in a panel (or tori is blind), BUT IT HAPPENED GUYS I SWEAR. HE ALSO GAVE IT TO OLIVER I SWEAR!!!!-”

I find Jin and Hayato’s reactions to the group interesting. the group kind of sees all the GF escapees as holy or also as their rescuers sth because like, if they hadn't escaped, none of them would be free, etc. Which now that I think about it, is... technically not true ig since Norman could have escaped Lambda even without the GF escape succeeding so. HM. And ig since they bowed to them, I think maybe it's jsut "wow you escaped on your own, you're so cool"? I just wonder if they kind of began thinking that way on their own or if Minerva's protecc squad/Minerva kind of gave them reason to behave that way by talking about the GF escape or something... probably they just did it on their own but I'm just rambling.

im getting angry so heres my love, death and robots episode ranking list ( best to worst )

1) helping hand, holy shit this one gave me so much anxiety and i got attached to the character so fast, she gave up so much just to survive.

2) the witness, really huge horny people territory, nudity, gore all of that stuff but a great plot twist at the end. also an amazing art style

3) lucky 13. this one made me cry like a baby if im honest, the animation and plot and characters and everything are so amazing and great, really great all together

4) sonnies edge! another one with amazing characters and animation. cool story as well, and you all know im a sucker for some lesbians. the end was also so amazing, sad and happy and scary all at the same time.

5) three robots! an amazing break from the dark nature of the rest of the show. just a few happy go lucky robots wandering a post-apocalyptic world and discovering new things. also, love the cats.

6)suits! god the animation in this one is so awesome, also love the kinda “ farmers gotta defend against aliens “ trope that they have going on. made me sad and happy, really satisfying end. im also just biased because,,, cool ass mechs

7) good hunting. also amazing, love the whole steampunk thing thats going on, tragic and a happy ending at the same time art style reminds me so much of something, i just cant place it at all.

8) beyond the aquila rift, super fucking scary, the animation is on point, also really horny at times, but that slight plot twist was really good! scary spider lady is a no from me tho, like, ew,,

9) sucker of souls!, really awesome art, kinda dingy looking because well, theyre in a cave, also dark, both in plot and it lighting, awesome tho! im so in love with some of the characters tbh

10)blindspot, oooh man this one is so cool! im a sucker for robots and moving action scenes, also made some of the deaths seem sad, but also funny, also amazing art style! reminds me of some 90s cartoons, really loveable characters.

11) the secret war, i was half asleep thru this entire one so i cant really give a good thing to say about it, animation and shit looked super good tho, awesome looking characters and plot.

12) fish night, really awesome animation style, cool plot too, kinda boring tho?? like, the colors and everything are amazing in this one, but all together kinda bland.

13) the dump! really cool art style, love the trash dog, love th character design, did not enjoy seeing some homeless man dick. that all i gotta say.

14) ice age. not a fan, the live action threw me off tbh, cool concept of a huge society living in a fridge, i only laughed once at this comedy one, but it was also barely a giggle, just not very good, boring.

15) alternate histories. pretty cool, cheery art style, see Hitler die in many comedic ways. its cool tbh, i love the concept of a website that would do stupid shit like that, and seeing Hitler die over and over is always a plus.

16)when the yogurt took over, kinda wonky art style, almost like the concept of an artificial intelligence thats smarter than man itself, like the narration kinda style with it, also just kinda boring tho,,

17)shape shifters, kinda cool at times but i feel like werewolves are so overused at this point. do like the things that point to teh fact that they arent quite equal to humans tho. loving the werewolf gays as well, th realistic art style was getting old at this point as well,i just like the characters and environments.

18) zima blue, i dont have anything nice to say about this. ugly art, ugly story, ugly characters. just, no. made me very uncomfortable.

What… and audial full. Literally. Some love loss for real. He didn’t know much in the affairs of the Decepticons but he knew that Breakdown and Knock Out were more than he was with Jackie. Jackie represented the old him, and Miko represented the bad side of wreckers which Jackie instilled when he joined. But team Prime was about healing and Optimus was not above putting his people in their place. He had his own way of doing it, one that the Decepticons might have viewed as weak.

It’s not all luck.” The red and blue duo might have seen an unfair amount of luck on Bulkhead’s behalf, but Bulk also added his skill set to complete a team that needed him on it. As for the sport car’s roundabout way of saying how much the wreckers sucked and how bad they were compared to the Decepticons, he didn’t feel he needed to add to it. The wreckers were disbanded. Breakdown might have killed a lot of his teammates, but it wasn’t as if the wreckers didn’t put a dent in their enemy as well. Not all of their missions ended in failure, obviously. Bulkhead had made it until the end, as did Wheeljack, unlike some stunted Decepticon wrecker. It wasn’t even an Autobot that killed him, that at least he knew. It must have been an inside job, or MECH, or some human. Breakdown was a fool that got himself killed. Knock Out was a bad mech for not being there for his partner, maybe he should say that. … he’ll wait.

“You got him in dangerous situations just for a laugh? That’s very caring of you. Now who is burning and who is creating a new future for us to live in, huh? And by the way, Wheeljack is here to help rebuild, since you seemed so worried about his current status. He’s doing well. So is Miko. Really though, a large pity he didn’t finish the job.
