the problem with trying to remember songs from girl scout camp is that you end up googling insane shit because there are about a billion slight regional differences between different groups of children
#I was trying to remember the main part of the one where you go#'fire fire pour on water pour on water save my children save my children jump lady jump'#because in the book I'm listening to they talked about the 'fire fire pour on water pour on water' part being about a London fire#but I always heard it as part of a song about Mrs O'Leary's cow burning down Chicago#anyways I did find the variation written out without too much digging#and our variation seems to come from a song that was popular at the turn of the 20th century#if you've read the tags this far I also remember the Baby Shark song being a camp song#and it's weird that it's like. a branded product now#and if you've read THIS far in the tags#I recently found out that one of my great great grandmothers married into an O'Leary family in Chicago#for like her fourth husband?#around the time of the fire#and she wasn't the Mrs O'Leary of the story#but I really wonder if she could've been an in-law or something
