IT MAY NOT SEEM SO, BUT WHEN CUTENESS SEEPED THROUGH and saturated her eyes and pout, it was not an intentional form of manipulation, but rather a more natural occurrence. Little Ari could not help the way that her eyes shimmered with innocent desperation when they were locked onto something she loved dearly, or how her bottom lip quivered when the need was not met. Perhaps this was a consequence of attempting to suffocate her upset, for Ari was not a fitful child and would never dare to display such disagreeable behavior, no matter the disappointment—especially not for Prompto, who was only ever so kind, understanding, and patient with her. But Ari was indeed emotional, and felt things deeply, and in spite of her best efforts to hide such things, how these emotions were written so plainly on her expression could not be helped. 

So when Prompto made mention of the look in her eye, she instantly shifted her gaze away and let it fall onto the reason for all of this—the jar of peanut butter, which only one spoonful of the precious substance was allowed in effort to prevent tummy upset. In turn, this apparently caused terrible heartache … 

“ nnn … no, thank you … ? ” repeated Ari in her own language—the most basic way that one could understand things. Right, he had said NO, and she was an obedient little girl who always did as she was told, just as she was conditioned to. Ari nodded, though, because—again—she could not help how her emotions influenced the way her face looked and the way her body moved, so the nod was a rather sad one. She hung her head low and took a large step back from the jar of peanut butter. 

“ o … okay … nnn … no, thank you … ”
