On to our next stop, it’s time to recharge ourselves after experiencing a one of a kind gastronomical trip with Jin! Through Suga‘s recommendations we will find the best healing spots in Seoul.
Shall we look around and find somewhere to relax? Let’s go! It’s time for Suga’s ‘Recharge‘ Seoul Tour now!
#1 Starfield Library (COEX Mall)
Tumblr media
Starfield Library, which is at the heart of COEX Mall in Gangnam, Seoul, is a space open to the public where locals and tourists can come to read books and rest. Lots of books  of various genres line the many tall shelves of the library, which you can take your time reading. Good news is, the library is free. You don’t have to pay to get in. What’s more is that being inside is like entering another world (I was once there and can’t take my eyes off the tall shelves and enormous book collection!). It’s so fascinating that taking a picture is a must!
Location: B1, 513 Yeongdong-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul Open Hours: 10:30 – 22:00 Website: www.starfield.co.kr
#2 Cheonggyecheon Stream
Tumblr media
With a very long history down from Joseon Dynasty, Cheonggyecheon Stream has been restored over time to become comfort to those in the city. The stream divides up the districts of Jongno-gu and Jung-gu and acts as a public rest area for everyone where performances are welcomed for passing visitors to watch. It is a very good place to walk along at night with your family, friends or your significant other while enjoying the fascinating illumination that lines up the stream.
Location: Cheonggyecheon-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul Website: http://www.sisul.or.kr/open_content/cheonggye/
#3 Jimjilbang
Tumblr media
Jimjilbang (or Hanjeungmak) are definitely famous to Korean drama lovers, since we all know how well utilized such locations are by K-drama characters. I’ve grown up only seeing them in front of my screen, but a fan must never miss it out! So, if you’re heading to Seoul in your next out of the country trip, be sure to visit it.
These Korean bathhouses are actually famous for its traditional kiln saunas, but nowadays they have also come with other facilities such as internet cafes, theaters, internet cafes, bowling alleys and restaurants, making them famous to people of all ages. As you get in, you will be given a change of clothes to be worn indoors. Sweating out in their sauna is definitely a good way of getting rid of the tiredness of your body and mind, but taking a sip of sikhye (sweet rice punch) is a must to quench your thirst afterwards!
Location: 39-2 Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul (Jamsil Suyang Hanjeungmak w/c is in Suga’s Seoul Tour video) Website: www.suyang.kr
#4 Seoullo 7017
Tumblr media
What used to be a highway overpass that was about to be demolished has been transformed into a pedestrian walkway in Korea–Seoullo 7017. It’s the first one of its kind in Korea, which takes inspiration from New York’s High Line. What makes it unique and a true masterpiece is that the sky garden takes pride at it’s innovative design. At night, it is being lit up by LED lights hanging from 1,121 poles through the length of Seoullo 7017 that connects together 17 pathways, adding a truly magical vibe to the area.
You won’t regret visiting Seoullo 7017. That’s for sure. It is truly a magical place from my memory, since I was there in 2017. Back then, though, I was just aimlessly walking and wasn’t sure where I ended up, so it took me a long time to find a way down. That’s funny, but I tell you, the ambiance is so mesmerizing you’d definitely get lost in it while there.
Fun fact: Seoullo 7017’s name is derived from its founding year 1970 and the idea that it’s connecting together 17 pathways.
Location: 432 Cheongpa-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul Open Hours: Apr to Oct – 9AM-9PM; Nov to Mar – 9AM-8PM | (Closed during Monday) Website: seoullo7017.seoul.go.kr
#5 Some Sevit (Sebitseom Island)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some Sevit (Sebitseom Island), which literally means ‘three shining island’ (‘se’ = three; ‘bit’ = light/shine; ‘seom’ = island), is the world’s first floating cultural space. It is made up of four artificial islands (Some Gavit, Some Chavit, Some Solvit and Some Yevit), which can hold various performances, exhibitions or events. Some Sevit’s night scene that’s illuminated by LED lights as it floats at the edge of Han River has become pretty popular that it has been utilized to some famous dramas like ‘She Was Pretty’ and ‘Athene’, as well as the movie ‘Avengers 2’.
In Suga’s TVC, we also see a boating activity called ‘Tubester’, which is available near Some Sevit. This is a must-try activity since it’s truly going to be a very good experience for visitors where they can enjoy eating while floating in the water and talking with their friends or family! Enjoy the beautiful scenery at the Han River through them!
Location: 683 Olympic-daero, Seocho-gu, Seoul Website: www.somesevit.co.kr

#6 Seoul Botanic Garden
Tumblr media
Seoul Botanic Garden is the city’s first botanical park that officially opened last May 1, 2019. Located in Magok, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, the park boasts of how a forest, garden, lake and marsh coexist together. Visitors will enjoy the park’s theme zone, which houses plants that represents 12 major cities in the world. Currently, these plants range from around 3,100 types which they will later expand to at least 8,000 types to actively promote exchange, research and propagation.
The Seoul Botanic Garden (Park) was built to create an advancement to the urban ecology of Seoul. And as a city that’s appreciated for its modern yet close to nature ambiance, this is the city’s effort in expanding their green spaces that a lot love. #7 Nanji Riverside Swimming Pool
Tumblr media
If you want to cool down yourself but really doesn’t want to go out of the city just to experience that one of a kind relaxation you’ve been craving for, then why not try the water parks by the Han River?
In particular, a crowd favorite out of many water parks by the Han River is the Nanji Hangang Water Park due to the availability of an infinity pool where you can have a nice view of the Han River right in front of you. It was also constructed with a relatively shallow depth (at least around 80cm) to remind people of how they used to play in the water by the riverside. This is also a good way of creating a really family friendly place who wants to come with their children.
Location: Nanji Hangang Information Center, 162 Hangang Nanji-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul Open Hours: 9AM to 7PM Admission: Free for children under 5 years of age / Children 1,000 won / Teenagers 2,000 won / Adults 3,000 won Website: http://hangang.seoul.go.kr/
#8 Gyeongui Line Forest Park
Tumblr media
The final stop for our healing trip is down the Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Mapo-gu, Seoul, which is a rising attraction to a lot of visitors.
This forest park used to be where the Gyeongui railway line was until it was moved underground. It dates back to roughly 100 years until today when over the railway (which now rests underground) finally sits its crowning glory–a line of pure green and nature, which is very accessible to visitors since its length rests in the center of Seoul, So, it’s really a good place for walks while trying to appreciate nature in the middle of an urbanized area. Like a breath of fresh air among the tall buildings of the city. Hongdae and Yeonnam-dong are also just along the park, so after a fun stroll, why not explore them for food, music, and many other trendy art forms?
Location: Areas of Yeonnam-dong and Daeheung-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul (서울특별시 마포구 연남동 및 대흥동) Directions: Hongik Univ. Station (Seoul Subway Line 2, Gyeongui-Jungang Line, Airport Railroad), Exit 3. Walk approx. 7-8 min.
Done! Finally. I thought I’m not going to be able to finish this posts today since I added more information to try and match what was in the TVC, but I really had fun researching about it so I got inspiration by the facts and pictures I’ve read and seen. It makes me want to go to Seoul right now to try out the various places I’ve been telling a story about in my blog. I really want to go there if I can. You know that kind of feeling? That strong urge to check off something from your bucket list? Yeah. That feeling. It makes me excited and really look forward to the future.
But for now, I’m ending this post here! See you in the next post, which will then showcase J-hopes recommendations in Seoul!

Bajan Newscap 3/26/2017
Good Morning #realdreamchasers! Here is your daily news cap for Sunday 26th March 2017. Remember you can read full articles via Barbados Today (BT), or by purchasing a Sunday Sun Newspaper (SS).
ST. LEONARD BOARD QUITS - The entire Board of the St Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School, inclusive of a senator and a pastor, has resigned, screaming political interference. Chairman Ricardo Harrison and the other six members resigned en masse two Fridays ago, leaving the school without an administrative body. When contacted Harrison declined to go into details but confirmed that he had quit. Sources said that the smouldering situation exploded more than a week ago after the board was summoned to a meeting with the Minister of Education Ronald Jones at Parliament Building during the week-long period when the House was debating the Appropriation Bill. (SS)
MOVE TO STOP KEROSENE FILL UPS – Management at some gas stations have put the brakes on drivers topping up their diesel vehicles with kerosene at the pump to save on fuel costs. SUNDAY SUN investigations revealed that drivers of some route taxis, minibuses, trucks and sport utility vehicles had been using half diesel and half kerosene until management at one service station chain issued a new policy directive last week. It said that drivers could no longer use the kerosene pump to fill up their vehicles, though they could buy the oil in approved containers for use off-plant. Ezra Prescod, Sol Barbados manager, said the move was to safeguard the company from any liability since kerosene oil was not an approved fuel for road vehicles. (SS)
LEE: ENGINES AT RISK – Do not mix kerosene oil with diesel. This warning was delivered by Morris Lee, president of the Association of Private Transport Operators, in response to reports that some drivers of public service vehicles were engaging in the practice. Lee told the SUNDAY SUN that the mixing of kerosene and diesel was done years ago when gas stations were using high-sulphur diesel. “The kerosene cannot be safely used with the low-sulphur diesel that we have now,” he said. “The diesel that we had prior to the low-sulphur diesel would’ve worked as a mixture with the kerosene at the time. Low-sulphur diesel is obviously of a higher quality, we are told, and it can lead to engine damage if it is used with kerosene. (SS)
SALES DOWN – A ban on the importation of corned beef from Brazil appears to have had very little impact, not because it was being ignored but because Barbadians have not been queuing up in their numbers to purchase the product in the first place, retailers have revealed. Several supermarket managers said they had been noticing a decline in interest in corned beef outside of the hurricane season, as consumers gravitated instead towards canned fish. (BT)
CHEAPER ROADS  - THE ARAWAK CEMENT COMPANY LIMITED is ready and waiting to solve the country’s pothole issues.  The island’s largest cement maker plans to pump US$50 million into the Barbadian economy this year, but general manager Manuel Toro has also revealed they could save Government almost that amount as well. Toro revealed Arawak has the equipment to build special concrete roads that would last in excess of 20 years before needing repairs, and could save Government millions of dollars it currently spends on asphalt, which has a much shorter life. In a recent interview with the SUNDAY SUN he said the St Lucy-based company had already initiated dialogue with the Ministry of Transport and Works, to get a possible concrete road agreement worked out. (SS)
ARAWAK PROMISES MORE DUST EASE – The residents OF Bromefield, St Lucy, will hopefully soon get relief from their respiratory problems associated with dust from the Arawak Cement Company Limited. That’s a promise from the company’s new general manager, Manuel Toro. “After we held three town hall meetings there we realised that this issue can be easily solved,” Toro told the SUNDAY SUN in response to the numerous complaints. “We planted trees as a form of natural protection, and now we have bought a special machine called a dust fighter, so water can be spread around the quarry that created the dust. It keeps the dust on the ground, and that should help a lot,” the manager from Colombia added. (SS)
222 MORE ROOMS FOR SANDALS - CHRIST CHURCH is getting a pair of Sandals. What started out as major expansion of its existing hotel at Dover has become the construction of brand new luxury property to be called Sandals Royal Barbados, which is scheduled to open on December 20. The project is expected to cost US$160 million when completed, a price tag Sandals Resorts International (SRI) said would make it the company’s “largest ever investment in a single property”. Company officials also said that the construction phase of the new hotel was employing 700 people, a number that was expected to increase to between 1 000 and 1 200 by the end of this month. Also, when Sandals Royal becomes operational, the property will employ 600 individuals, bringing the Sandals workforce here to about 1 2000. SRI officials, led by founder and chairman Gordon “Butch” Stewart have been marketing the “222 all suite resort” internationally as they try to make sure both hotels are fully booked when the next winter season starts  in December. “It’s no exaggeration when I say this resort will be the envy of the industry. Sandals has always been the industry leader in creativity and innovation. The luxury-inclusions we develop always add immense value to the destinations where we operate,” Stewart said. “At the Royal Barbados, guests will experience beach-front infinity edge plunge pools or ‘sky pool’ suites directly facing the Caribbean Sea. Basically, they will be in the water while floating in the sky! We have infinity edge pools and Jacuzzis which are the largest and highest on island. Private circular villa suites within the resort (Rondoval) are a new feature in the offerings in Barbados.” “Each villa suite has a spacious living room, private patio and pool sanctuary directly accessible from the bedroom. We will have the largest swim up bar on island, not to mention the extensive entertainment within the resort, opulent designs in the public spaces, and world-class menu offerings with a global taste,” he boasted. Sandals Royal will also feature five specialty restaurants, four bars, and a 15 000 square feet Red Lane Spa. The additional 222 suites will bring Sandals’ Barbados room count to 502. The new hotel is being built on 14 acres of land that stretches from the  St Lawrence Gap area to a section of Maxwell and is directly next door to the existing property. (SS)
NUPW SECURES NEW INSURANCE PROVIDER - A second insurance company has taken up the National Union of Public Workers’ (NUPW) portfolio. Beacon Insurance has joined Sagicor Insurance in offering coverage to all public servants, as well as retirees, who are members of the NUPW. This has been revealed by the union’s president Akanni McDowall, who revealed the largest public sector union only had to finalise arrangements with Beacon. McDowall was quick to point out that the ongoing dispute between Beacon and Workbench Furniture would have no bearing on the new arrangement. “Some may ask about the reputation of the company and the ongoing matter with Workbench,” McDowall said. “However, the company has given us a written explanation for the ongoing matter with Workbench. Suffice to say that we did our due diligence.”  (SS)
WE WILL NOT BE BULLIED – National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) President Akanni McDowall is sticking to his guns on issues relating to Customs Officers and says that the union will not be bullied into anything but the best for those workers. As he emphasized the union’s stance against any “detrimental” conditions for Customs workers in Government’s attempt to absorb them into the Barbados Revenue Authority, McDowall told those attending Thursday’s opening of his union’s 73rd conference that the executive is still open to talks. Speaking at the NUPW’s Dalkeith headquarters, McDowall said that his organization “continues to be open for discussions and negotiations about how best to streamline and improve our various public service functions,” but stressed, “we will never be open to the outright bullying tactics and disrespect for the process of consensus building and partnerships”. With elections for a new union boss scheduled for early next month, McDowall outlined for members the many successes of his term in office, and spoke of an accomplishment in ensuring that Customs Officers are not integrated into the Barbados Revenue Authority “in a manner that would be detrimental to them”. He said, “there is a need for reform in the Customs Department however, the union remains unconvinced that housing of the Customs Department under the Barbados Revenue Authority is the most [suitable] arrangement”. “Until the Customs Officers of Barbados can be guaranteed tenure, and the various issues and other concerns are ironed out the union will stand hand in hand with its primary stakeholders, the worker, in articulating and agitating for answers to their concerns,” McDowall said. Putting into context the NUPW’s demand for a 23 per cent salary increase for its 9,000 members, McDowall said that the public service has changed with added responsibilities at every level of service, with some added tasks not officially included in their job descriptions. “They have been taking on these tasks in good faith for the benefit of our country,” he said, and added, “the economic fallout in Barbados has added another layer to the work of public servants”. He reminded the audience that public service posts were frozen as a 2014 cost cutting measure. “The result is that persons have been doubling, sometimes tripling, and sometimes quadrupling on tasks.” Further, he said that many of these officers are working without adequate resources. “Public servants who once considered themselves middle-class are struggling to pay mortgages and buy food,” he said, explaining that in some cases they are having to choose between buying food and paying the mortgage. McDowall said that the union cannot ignore these issues, and spoke of a need to rekindle the economy, empower workers with disposable income to invest, and create spending power. (BT)
2500 REHIRED – A top union official is claiming that more than 80 per cent of the workers who were recently sent home by the Freundel Stuart administration have been rehired. As part of spending cuts announced back in 2013, an estimated 3,000 workers were to be sent home, with Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler suggesting at the time that the plan to cut public sector jobs would result in Government saving as much as $143 million. The minister of finance had also said that Government had agreed to institute a “strict programme of attrition” across the central public service, filling posts only where it is absolutely unavoidable, over the next five years, ending 2018-2019. The well-placed Government source also pointed out that the National Conservation Commission (NCC), which was one of the statutory entities hardest hit by the home-grown fiscal consolidation programme, was currently operating below the minimum requirement. In fact, the official said it was currently short of 170 workers as a result of the recent retrenchments, as well as internal sick leave. This position is totally at odds with that espoused by Smith in her lengthy address last night, in which she acknowledged that relations between Government and her union had soured since 2014. In fact, Smith said the NUPW, which was once viewed as “a darling for agreeing to hold strain and not seek a pay increase for its membership” was now considered not only to be “the worst institution in Barbados”, but also to be “partisan and mad” because it decided “that it cannot morally continue to support Government in this particular regard”. She therefore made it clear that while the NUPW was willing to compromise on its current 23 per cent wage demand, a wage cut, as recently suggested by prominent local businessman Andrew Bynoe, was a “non-starter” for the NUPW, even though she said the union saw merit in his recommendation that a portion of the proposed salary increase be paid in Government bonds. In her wide-ranging, stinging address, Smith slammed Government over its treatment of workers, saying it was ridiculous for the ruling Democratic Labour Party to be demanding more of workers when it had not provided the necessary resources to boost productivity. She also took aim at the umbrella Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations (CTUSAB), saying it appeared to be “there to satisfy the needs, wants and public relation requirements of Government. The NUPW General Secretary also suggested a need for greater private sector scrutiny, while questioning: “How is it that hotels are allowed unaudited offshore accounts in the form of all-inclusive booking arrangements over which the Central Bank seemingly has no control and only apparently receives foreign exchange crumbs?”  (BT)
ICBL TO SEVER STAFF – The Bermuda-based Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited (ICBL) is preparing to cut staff by way of a voluntary separation programme. Barbados TODAY understands that the offer has been made to all permanent employees who have been with the company for more than two years. When contacted today, Acting Chief Executive Officer Goulbourne Alleyne would neither confirm nor deny that cuts were taking place, amid ongoing internal restructuring. However, company officials have since indicated that a media statement is to be issued next week. The move comes on the heels of the sudden departure of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer  Ingrid Innes, who resigned from the top position back in January. That announcement came in a brief statement issued by ICBL, in which it was also revealed that Innes had given up her position on the board of directors. However, to date no reason has been given for her sudden exit from the insurance company, which had promised in its 2015 report that its staff level “will remain stable with necessary changes to be made as required”. In fact, the report had suggested that there would be further strengthening of the team by way of specialized and talented managers in critical areas. The well-capitalized company had also boasted at the time of shareholders’ equity in the amount of $149.1 million and an investment portfolio in excess of $223 million. However, based on 2013 data, its total staff complement stood at 191 permanent employees, making total staff costs of just over $17 million, including a $14 million wage bill. (BT)
CAMPUS TRENDZ BUILDING TO COME DOWN - The site of one of the island’s worst tragedies is about to disappear from the landscape.  The building which once housed Campus Trendz, a clothing store in which six young women died in a fire in September 2010, is due to be demolished today. Heavy-duty vehicles and equipment were on the site yesterday and the all-clear to raze the building on Tudor Street, The City, St Michael had been given, according to reports. On September 3, 2010, two men firebombed the business place with Molotov cocktails made of gasoline-filled beer bottles, after robbing the store. That fire claimed the lives of three Campus Trendz employees: Kellisha Olliviere, formerly of Wellington Street, The City; Shanna Griffith, formerly of Pile Bay, Spring Garden, St Michael; and Pearl Cornelius, formerly of London Bourne Towers, The City, and three shoppers: Kelly-Ann Welch, formerly of Montrose, Christ Church; Tiffany Harding, formerly of Upper Collymore Rock, St Michael, and Nikkita Belgrave, formerly of Shop Hill, St Thomas. Two men have been convicted in the deaths of the young women and lawsuits filed by their families against the building owners, the store owner and the authorities. (SS)
NEIGHBOURS SAVE MAN FROM BLAZE – The thick black smoke of a blazing house was no barrier to some members of a close-knit community who rushed in to save one of their own trapped inside yesterday. As a result of the morning blaze at Bromefield No. 2, St Lucy, 59-year-old Nigel Corbin was hospitalised with burns about his body and one of his rescuers, road tennis player Kerry “TC” Francis, was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and treated for a hand injury. The smouldering remains of the wall house was all that remained after fire officers battled for about an hour to extinguish the blaze which started at around 10:30 a.m. Nothing was saved and four other people were looking last night for alternative accommodation with relatives in the neighbourhood. (SS)
I KILLED HIM - A young man who has been on remand since his teenage years on a murder charge, today admitted to delivering the fatal stab wound to his 18-year-old rival. Fachad Cadogan of Well Road, Wavell Avenue, Black Rock, St Michael, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Tristan Barker, who died on May 16, 2014. But he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. Cadogan, who is now in his 20s, entered the plea in the No. 5 Supreme Court this morning. In his statement to police, he described what happened on the night between him and the deceased. Principal Crown Counsel Aliston Seale gave those details to the court, saying the evidence showed “no doubt that there was bad blood” between Codogan and Barker. Cadogan was on his way home around 9 p.m. when he saw Barker sitting on the steps of a house speaking to a young lady. He told the police he and Barker were not on speaking terms as the deceased was allegedly “always troubling” him and a particular friend. Cadogan had determined that the next time he encountered Barker he would tell him to “leave me and Stefan alone”. According to the statement read by Seale, Barker apparently began to laugh when he saw Cadogan approaching. The young lady who was with Barker walked away and he stood and asked Cadogan: “Big man, wuh happen?” Cadogan told Barker that if he wanted to do something, he could go ahead. According to Cadogan, Barker took a rock from the ground and on seeing that, he went into his bag and pulled out a knife. He said Barker then rushed at him and “[I] juk at he with the knife”. Cadogan said he did not know what part of the body he “juk” Barker but he walked home, washed the weapon and broke it in two. He told his mother what had happened and she in turn told his father and the parents then spoke with Cadogan. Cadogan subsequently put the broken knife in a bag and threw it over a paling near his house. The police arrived at his home sometime later and informed him that Barker had died. Cadogan was arrested and he led police to the area where he had discarded the knife, admitting that it was the weapon he had used to stab Barker. Barker died as a result of a single stab wound to the left side of his neck. The young lady who was with Barker told police, in a statement, that there was no provocation on Barker’s part on the night of Cadogan’s attack. Justice Jacqueline Cornelius ordered a pre-sentencing report into the life of Cadogan who is represented by attorney-at-law Andrew Pilgrim. His sentencing hearing continues on May 22. (BT)
STRAKER FOUND NOT GUILTY OF WOUNDING – A man in his 20s was all smiles today after he was found not guilty of assault. Dario Ricardo Straker, of #130 Ealing Park, Christ Church, had been accused – along with another man who is now deceased – of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Kemar O’Neal Blackman on October 19, 2011. Magistrate Douglas Frederick found Straker not guilty of the offence in the No. 1 District ‘A’ Criminal Court. Fredrick said that based on the evidence before the court, it would have been difficult for Blackman to know exactly who had assaulted him at the time as he was struck from the back. It was for that reason that the magistrate told Straker, “you are free to go.” In another matter, 22-year-old Stephen David Gaskin, of Dodds Land, Church Valley, St Philip, avoided HMP Dodds after he was able to pay $500 forthwith to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today. He had pleaded guilty to assaulting Shakayla Goodridge on March 14, occasioning her actual bodily harm. In addition to imposing the fine, Magistrate Frederick placed Gaskin on a bond to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for the next six months. TWO ON ASSAULT CHARGES - A labourer and a mason who appeared in a Bridgetown court on separate assault charges have each been released on $4,000 bail. Shamar Peterson Akeem Devonish, 20, of Bristol Road, Cave Hill, St Michael, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant to assaulting Charlene Bovell on March 23, occasioning her actual bodily harm. According to police prosecutor Station Sergeant Neville Reid, the complainant had disembarked a PSV vehicle and walked across Montgomery Pasture where she observed four men, including Devonish, playing a game of dominoes. Bovell asked Devonish to sell her a cigarette but he apparently took too long. “Hurry up and give me a cigarette lil boy,” she told him. He responded by telling her that she couldn’t be speaking to him. Bovell said something that did not sit well with Devonish and he became aggressive. He walked away but returned a short time later with what Bovell noticed was a beer bottle in his hand. The two exchanged more words, during which time Devonish told Bovell to say the word “push”, which she did, and he struck her on the right arm with the bottle. The prosecutor said Devonish ran off and then returned with more bottles, which he again threw at Bovell, hitting her on the right side of her abdomen. Another three bottles were thrown but they missed her. Bovell reported the matter to police and Devonish was detained. After speaking with Magistrate Cuffy-Sargeant, Devonish secured bail with one surety. The matter was then adjourned to May 10 when Bovell is expected to make an appearance before the magistrate. In the other case, Merril Alexandros Oliver Blackman of ‘Sayeed Cottage’, Kensington New Road, St Michael admitted that he assaulted Lennox Wilson, occasioning him actual bodily harm on March 9. Station Sergeant Reid said the two men live in upstairs rooms of a rented storehouse. On the morning of March 9, Blackman started an argument with Wilson over his sponge which had gone missing. An angry Blackman cuffed Wilson several times, walking away only after the complainant fell to the ground. Wilson reported the matter to the police and Blackman, who was taken into custody, admitted to the offence. He too secured bail with one surety and was ordered to return to court on June 19 when Wilson is also scheduled to appear. (BT)
