#the batman#dick grayson#the little orphan boy#bruce vaulting across the room to shield him at his father's funeral#what's black and blue and dead all over#vengeance isn't enough gotham needs hope#selina namedropping bludhaven#in fact selina's whole thing of wanting to kill a killer but ending up not doing it because of bruce (it works better with a child)#as well as bruce's general character arc of realising that batman needs to do more than punch people#it leads into it so well#give him a circus child#selina calling him out on his rich asshole bullshit is obviously incredible#now imagine that irreverent attitude coming from a child with more social grace than bruce wayne could ever dream of#comedy gold#(the rich asshole bullshit specifically is more jason and steph's wheelhouse but we're not there yet)#bruce would skulk into the manor after falling in gotham harbour because he hasn't told the new kid he's batman yet#and dick would be hanging upside down from a bannister 20 feet in the air like 'why do you look like a drowned rat'#what's bruce supposed to say to that huh? deny it? it's true
