it’s been a long day and as the day curves into the afternoon, yuna gets more and more antsy. the confidence has begun to wane and the real dilemma of whether she’ll make it past the preliminaries starts to dawn her. it’s a belated fear but it’s there, either way.

she was, after all, still a kid in the eyes of the majority. fifteen -- too young, but a babe ready to be the sacrificial lamb to the hypothetical wolves that stand before her. they’re all hungry for new meat and yuna is just that, she sees as she stands at the forefront again. 

she doesn’t know how this will become and some part of her doesn’t want to see the results.

to go through all this and not make it -- it’d be a slap to her self-confidence and a ridiculous tell-tale of karma for being so cocky. but she tries to stay resilient despite the doubts that now pile atop of her.

it’s the last part before she can leave and cry like the little baby she was into the arms of her crusty moomin plushie. she just had to push through.

twenty minutes adds to the doubts and crumbles what confidence she has left. what had been a mountain of charisma, crumbles to a mere ant hill as she’s told to exhibit another skill atop of the ones she had done so all day.

what did she have left to offer?

her heart and soul, ready to be signed over to the devil? perhaps, but yuna wouldn’t go that far ( not yet, at least ). 

 so, she shakily asks if she can pull up an instrumental of the song she has in mind. it’s the first that she things of on the spot and quite honestly, her best bet, now that she thinks of the options she had on hand. she couldn’t dance again -- so singing would be the next best bet, right?

it’s a quick back and forth as she tries to remember the lyrics but like the lyrics, thinking straight is impossible when you’re losing control and out of breath.

( not exactly what the lyrics meant but yuna felt that way )

                                     ⁺   𝗹𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗬𝗢𝗨   ━━━━━━━   𝘒𝘐𝘚𝘚 𝙆𝙄𝙎𝙎 𝘉𝘈𝘉𝘠 .

she’s calls her show choir experience to perform this time, it’s an undeniable pressure that needs to be pleased as she feels the awkwardness in her movements, the unpracticed movements as she sings; she’s impulsive, wanting to drive whatever she has left of her into a performance that would be the last of her for the day to come. if this was what would be the last defining factor to propel her to the next round, shouldn’t she do everything she could to make their answer be anything but a dismissal.

she couldn’t afford to lose this chance, not right now.

her own ego wouldn’t endure the disrespect. she just had to give them a reason not to say no. 

so, yuna moves around the microphone stand and toying with it as she sings; pushing it to the ground as she sings. ultimately sliding to the ground in a flourish of movements made to awe, doing the utmost in order to entertain, this was her goal. 

and as she closes, instead of the the repetition the last verse -- her finger runs along her lip in a coy smile before snapping it in conclusion with a strict ‘schttt!’
