i have some tigerghost song recommendations :3 heartbreak by leo. for danny and the new national anthem by pierce the veil (im indecisive on who it is i feel like manny? but i can see it either way)

No joke, I soft gasped at the line, "What's the use of knowing you, if holding you isn't forever?" BECAUSE THAT'S EXACTLY THE KIND OF THOUGHTS I IMAGINE DANNY HAVING. Like, it works both before and after he starts to date Manny, because before he's denying himself even the chance at any happiness with Manny since he's used to just being burned in relationships. All he wants is someone that's as devoted to him as he'll be devoted to them. Even after Manny's declaration and devotion, Danny's still dealing with all the negative thoughts and uncertainty he has about his own existence and what it means to be a halfa (literally one of three in all of reality). Danny doesn't know what his future looks like, or what kind of stability and happiness he can offer someone else, and he just can't imagine saddling that sort of uncertainty on anyone who might want to share their life with him. His fear is that Manny hasn't realized all the possible consequences yet (because Danny catastrophizes scenarios in his head which is not healthy).

The lyrics for The New National Anthem had me imaging the perspective shifting between Danny and Manny, but leaning more towards Manny. Mostly because lines like "You'll be excited to see me someday. Everything's okay." and "Why would I let you go?" made me imagine Manny telling Danny in full seriousness one day, "Even if you don't love yourself, I'm going to love you until the end of my life. And that is a threat I will follow through on."

Also, the line of "And if I ever catch the ones who hurt you, I, I'm hoping that God looks away this time." IS RAW AS FUCK AND MANNY WOULD SAY THAT. (Also I already wrote a short fic I never published in which Manny finds out that Dash was Danny's high school bully and sort of engages in some less than heroic deeds against him and that line made me want to go back and polish up the fic a bit lol)
