Maybes I'm just being thick, but does anyone else find it interesting that both Catra and Glimmer end up at their most unhinged when they are at their most outwardly put together? Like when they both still had a bit of the fun-loving wild child about them they were doing all right, but the moment they both buckled into "This is who I need to be" they went completely off the rails?
Like Catra finally succeeded in convincing everyone she was unsalvageable right before DT vibe checked her, and her entire progress through s4 of that wall breaking down can be accurately charted by how wild her hair gets again.

I feel like this is a good example, since DT's impression of Catra's "big, bad villain" persona is way more sleek and put together than current Catra.
Meanwhile, Queen Glimmer having driven away all her friends just goes completely feral and hires a double agent to cripple the entire Horde in one fell swoop (and like... I know DT is in it for themselves above all, but they do take pride in their work and being the best in their field. I don't think it would have been feasible to get them to switch sides if they hadn't had the Heart of Etheria locked and loaded.) And like... Don't get me wrong, she did genuinely have good intentions mixed in with the bad, but she did also emotionally manipulate Scorpia by playing on her loneliness to get her to go along with bonding the Black Garnet and activating the heart. She did it in a nice way, but it was still manipulative.

Like they had both done some really bad shit beforehand. Catra obviously has the portal, and I will NEVER let Glimmer live down the fact that she aided in torture and that was BEFORE Catra opened the portal and half the fandom spontaneously decided that she deserved whatever she got. But they both still had other factors balancing that out.
I just find it interesting that the two most morally grey members of the cast (DT doesn't count because they don't subscribe to any morality) only went completely off the rails once they decided they had to become somebody they very much aren't: the cool, untouchable villain and the woman with the queenly mask.

So I guess in between everything else they need to cover while stuck in gay baby jail, they need to discuss their respective identity crises.
