It's a fun game to just play a few rounds in every now and then, even against bots. I'm only getting back into it now because there's meant to be a new samurai releasing in the next few days. So far no details about them have been revealed besides being a "weapons master"

Speaking of bots, I've been playing good enough in pvp that I'm now getting level 2 bots in my solo vs ai stuff, which is making things more interesting. I didn't realise the bots had changed and I was so confused to have a shinobi bot suddenly flip kicking and deflecting me

The Displeasure Of Robots

I've been having a lot of fun the past couple of years making my silly Pookamhura Videos. They started out as something fun for me to do while waiting for PvP queues to pop (The Pook is a Level 20 F2P Baby Twink). I'd have a gummy and then improvise an awkward one-sided conversation with an NPC. Eventually they evolved into scripted, television length episodes featuring multiple character and musical numbers. It's been a lot of fun and for me it captures a lot of the excitement I had back in the early 2000s when I was producing my webcomic Ghastly's Ghastly Comic. All the fun of being creative without the pressures to grow it into a career.

Besides my episodic and musical Pookamhura videos I also enjoy putting up videos of my Pook-based PvP adventures.

One of the neat things about YouTube is the analytics that YouTube gives you as a creator. When I did Ghastly's Ghastly Comic there were a number of webtracking services that could give you an analysis of your page's traffic. It's how I knew my webcomic fluctuated between 100K and 200K readers each week and where they were from. One of the things I didn't have back in 2001 though was a "like button" on the comics themselves. I'm sure that's a feature that modern webcomics have so readers can express their approval or disapproval of a single comic in a series. Back then the only way I knew a single comic was enjoyed was based on the conversations on my comic's forum and other comics forums.

My Pookamhura videos are nowhere near as popular as GGC was. I get a couple dozen views and maybe 6 likes per video and I'm totally fine with that because I am retired. This is a labour of love and not an attempt to recreate the kind of "internet fame" I had with GGC. I just want to be a goody li'l guy making goofy li'l videos to make myself and a couple dozen people happy. Still, the analytics for a video do sometimes yield interesting information.

One of the things YouTube did some time back was to make only the "likes" visible to the public and not the "dislikes" because bad actors weaponized the dislike function in an effort to sabotage content they disagreed with. The public can't see "dislikes" but creators can. As I said, most of my videos that get likes get only a half-dozen likes but as for dislikes it's either 1 or 2, or none. There's nothing really controversial in my videos about a gnome living her best gnome life in a universe governed by magic bullshit. Some people don't get what I'm doing and I'm totally fine with that. Art is subjective.

But I can't help but notice something really odd when it comes to my PvP videos. If I post a PvP video it will get a couple of "likes" but a hugely disproportionate number of "dislikes". I post of video of the Pook doing Battlegrounds and 3 people will like it and 60 people will dislike it within hours of the video being uploaded, but then give it a few more hours and the analytics will show that 3 people like it and 2 people dislike it. This is because one of the things YouTube attempts to do is discern which views and channel interactions are genuine and which ones are bot-driven and bot-driven interactions are removed from your analytics so as to maintain accurate reporting of the channel.

When I post a music video on my channel and watch the views over the first few hours the views are really high, but then after a couple of hours the views regress. So A video will show 45 views and then several hours later it will show 25 views. I assume this is YouTube removing the views of bots who scrape YouTube for content and this happens with music videos because it makes good content for bots to steal as opposed to a video about a quasi-immortal gnome trying to enjoy a vacation while avoiding an annoying Death Knight.

So from this I'm left to conclude that for some reason some entity is using bots to mass dislike World of Warcraft PvP videos but I can't for the life of me figure out why someone would want to expend those resources on something as trivial as PvP videos. Bots aren't free, they may be cheap but their not free. Employing bots to "thumbs down" videos on a channel with less than 1000 subscribers (most of whom subscribed back when I was creating GGC and have long since forgotten I even existed) seems like using a howitzer to swat a mosquito. So what gives?

Do all PvP videos get bot blasted with dislikes? Is this a known phenomenon that PvP content creators have to deal with? Are these bots being deployed by a Horde player who hates Alliance players? Are these bots being deployed by a Horde player who is mad at the Pook because I somehow managed to kill them in a BG once?Seriously, that's on you buddy, the Pook is a stealing rogue, not a stabbing rogue. You have to be geared like a scrub for the Pook to kill you. Do other channels PvP videos get bot-blasted with dislikes or is this just a me thing?

Whoever you are bot-blasting my tiny little channel's PvP videos with dislikes, I regret to inform you that YouTube removes your bots dislikes and views within a matter of hours. I am perplexed as to what it is you hope to accomplish. Maybe you should go mine a bit coin or something instead. I don't know what to tell you.

To the half dozen or so people who genuinely seem to enjoy my Pookish YouTube nonsense, thank you. I'm really glad you get what I'm doing and I hope you continue to enjoy my gnomish shenanigans as much as I enjoy making them.

My thoughts on why each wildcard was a "failed season"

so in the lore stream martyn stated that every wildcard was each a season played out in full but "for some reason or another" it wasn't good enough for the watchers so they chose to make a compilation. These are the reasons I believe they failed

Session 1 (shrink and grow):too boring, most people died from falling or getting caught on blocks and dying to mobs

Session 2 (hunger):It spiked to peak emotion too fast and in the later sessions the watchers got almost no emotion because everyone had it under control

Session 3 (snails): it ended way too early.

Session 4 (time dilation): everyone died from running into creepers or mobs

Session 5 (trivia bot): they asked trivia about seasons they didn't remember, leading to only failure and no correct answers.

session 6 (wildlife): people figured out how to counter the mobs after session 1.

session 7 (superpowers): Grian said it himself. "This is a pvp series, STOP HAVING FUN." They had too much fun and the watchers basically got rotten food

session 8 was not a failed season because it is the culmination of wild life. Its the compilation, which is what the watchers did with their failed seasons

10(ish) Deltarune theories and lore to catch up on before Chapter 3 & 4

As someone who has been deep (AND I MEAN DEEP) in the trenches of Deltarune theories and analysis, I thought I'd share a few ones that you might want to catch up on before Chapters 3 & 4 drop for real, so we can be on the lookout for more secrets! There is so much thought and love and secrets inbuilt into the series, so its really fun to learn about this stuff!

Bolded videos are the ones I would highly recommend watching before Ch3 and 4 drop.

"Everything to look out for in Chapters 3 and 4 of Deltarune" by KazooCat covers most of the lore we are expecting to see in these chapters from the previous newsletters and special events. If you just want a quick recap of what's coming and where we're at, this is a great resource.

2. "The Burgerpants Conspiracy" by cammyboiG is a bit of a crack theory and a very silly video, and it isn't something I necessarily subscribe to, but it does cover some big theories and important ideas, such as chess theory, several candidates for the knight and some general lore, and it's all around a good time with a genuine love for the source material. Go check it out!

3. "The Importance of The Dreamurr divorce in Chapter 3" by StuffedAlpaca discusses the Dreamurr family throughout Undertale and Deltarune with some really insightful and empathetic analysis, very good video for any Kris fans and will almost certainly be relevant in Chapter 3. All around lovely video and a great channel.

I would also recommend Stuffed Alpaca's video on:

A) "Susie and Ralsei's relationship will be more important than you think" discussing how their opposing relationships with both Kris and the player might affect the storyline

4. "Why is Kris so weird?" by HalfBreadChaos. This is a must-watch in my opinion, although I am a bit biased because I absolutely love this channel, it's incredibly smart. Covers some really important elements of Kris's characters and their relevance to magic and ocean and death imagery, and absolutely opened my eyes to some deeper lore within the game. Also, HBC uses a TTS due to their disabilities, so if thats a no for you, thats fair, but please don't hassle them or their community for it, they aren't a bot!

B) "Why is Berdly in Deltarune? An (Over)Analysis" A beautiful character analysis of Berdly for his fans to celebrate and his haters to learn a little bit more about him.

I would also really recommend HalfBreadChaos's video on:

A) "Who is December Holiday in Deltarune" A MUST WATCH if you are behind on Dess lore, or you still don't know who she is. This is your best resource to learn about her.

B) "Don't forget, who is with us in the dark?" discussing potential candidates for the singer of the main song of the series, including taking apart the japanese characters and their significance to each character.

C) "What the Four Shadows Foreshadow" discussing the foreshadowing of the shadow puzzle in Queens mansion in Ch.2.

D) "Puppets and Cats: Elements Revealed in The Spamton Sweepstakes" discussing the element system in the pvp, which will probably become increasingly significant in later chapters.

E) "Who is the Man With The Egg in Deltarune?" discussing the secret egg room and its significance to Gaster and the knight as well as other easter eggs.

F)The smile motifs in Deltarune, which as you might guess, covers the way smiling is used in UTDR universe and why.

Honestly, just go watch all HalfBreadChaos's videos if you want to learn Deltarune lore in full, they use code and translations and previous lore expertly to flesh out theories. But these are my favourites/ the most important ones to know.

5. "Noelle's mother worries me" by Dorked. Covers a bit about what we know about Noelle's family relationships and how it relates to Noelle's personality. Will also probably be relevant in future chapters.

I would also recommend from Dorked:

A) "Ralsei and The Player's concerning relationship." What it says on the tin, but incredibly important for any Ralsei analysis.

B) "The Sans & Ice-E Conspiracy, and Deltarune Papyrus Mysteries" maybe a bit out there, but it does provide a lot of insight into ICE-E and its relevance.

C) "Toriel and Asgore's parenting problems." Like Stuffed Alpaca's video, this covers how Toriel and Asgore's parenting issues affect their children. A lovely character analysis.

Again, a really lovely and insightful channel. These are just a few picks and I would highly recommend you check out more of their videos.

6. "The Universal Mother Theory" by Kooki914. Explores how Queen's relationship to each of the characters resembles their relationship to their mothers. Chapter 2 specific, but I do think it's interesting to consider for other chapters, especially when we begin to learn more about the characters families.

From Kooki914, I would also recommend:

A) "Snowgrave: An exploration of relationships" which explores how Kris and Susie's relationship in the snowgrave route is likened to an abuse marriage.

7. "I think I know what Ralsei is" by SonsaKay." I don't know if I fully subscribe to this theory but O.M.G. I had SO MANY revelations and jaw drop moments watching this video. If you are at all interested in Ralsei's character you MUST MUST watch this.

8. "A Thematic Analysis of Darkness in Deltarune" by Virat Veritas. Just a nice old fashioned thematic analysis; what is says on the tin.

9. "Names, Endings, Prophecy, Power" by Snarlinger. Explores the significance of character names in the UT/DR universe, and links them to religious themes within the text.

10. "I know what the angel's heaven is & how Deltarune will end" by Black Chesnut and "The Religious Symbolism of Deltarune" by Detective Mar. Grouping these together because they're both good insights into the religious symbolism in Deltarune, which is shaping up to be a really prominent theme, and worth knowing a little bit about.

A. In this video, Snarlinger mentions, "Deltarune's story is strongly tied to the Book of Revelation" by Doom64hunter. This is a brilliant in-depth read about how the story of deltarune mirrors the end of the New Testament and so smartly put together.

11. "Who Dr. Gaster Is and Why That Matters to Deltarune" by Mystic Sparkles. Come on guys, we had to have ONE big gaster theory in here and I DID save it to the end. In all seriousness, if you are behind on Gaster lore, or you don't understand why people are using him in Deltarune Analysis, this is a really great resource, and Mystic Sparkles is a delightful commentator.

in its defense I guess I had to put a little more effort into fights in mecha break than I did in DXM

but that's mostly because mecha break has abilities and spamboosting costs far more energy. and I was trying to use the melee

on the other hand it seems like if you hold the shield up it just autocounters all melee attacks for you (except one?) and lets you get a full combo off for free

the movement feels kinda ass outside of the initial dash you get from boosting

also the sexualisation of the female characters is. kinda gross and also very obviously an attempt to bait horny weebs into playing and paying for stupid cosmetics. also it makes them look ugly and stupid

in a surprise to no one mecha break is not very good

gem's relationship with etho and pearl in wild life are fascinating. i mean that in the way that gem definitely has some kind of attachment issues

etho stages multiple assassination attempts while gem just brushes off each one and comes back to tease him, but the moment she starts suspecting etho is with the G's something shifts in their dynamic. gem is vocal with joel about how they shouldn't trust etho but joel wasn't even aware they were friendly so it's clearly just gem's relationship. even with doubt she keeps coming back to him culminating in etho betraying her (by this time, very little) trust in him and blows her up bringing her to her red life. STILL she comes back and doesn't retaliate. in a meta chat with pearl she says how she felt it unfair to just pvp him right then and she didn't want to end his season abruptly. meta reason aside, she was in the complete right to kill him and she still wouldn't

this creates such an interesting parallel with pearl. they start off the season distanced entirely because in secret life pearl broke the absolute trust gem gave her thus she actively keeps her distance. it can be concluded she keeps up this act because she knows pearl will chase after her (freak <3). when pearl also engages in murderous behavior gem turns around and actively encourages her (if she is alone) to continue the attempts similar to etho. her attachment is confirmed while pearl can't speak because of the trivia bot. when gem holds ultimate control she assures pearl that they will be together when they are both on red life. she implied her own want while also giving pearl an incentive to stick around (and kill her) so they will end up together

even with a lack of trust she either attaches herself to that person or drags them alongside her because she can't imagine life without them

the wildcards returning for the finale is great dont get me wrong. its jst. i guess at the end where all of the wildcards are activated its jst. so much?? like everything happening is too much at the same time yk? i think thats mostly the problem. bc. everyone has to deal with all these deadly wildcards adding up gradually causing some of the players their last life. which i think makes it more.. unsatisfactory? kind of? since the finale for others werent going out in pvp or traps and allat but the wildcards.

all of them happening at the same time is a bit overwhelming?? or maybe its jst me but theres too much going on every moment and such. its jst hard to actually focus/try to kill ppl? we have the slow to speedy thingy happening, the mobs dying and changing, which causes a lot of lag and deaths (gem to a vex is an example of this) cus theres a bunch of mobs to look out for, the trivia bot coming down sometimes at the worst possible moment (a snail chasing u n all), theres also the superpower card its kinda not been properly or well used during all this, and snails since they did end some series and caused a bunch of deaths in their past of being the main wildcard.

and: shiny duo again bc i cant not end this talking abt the wildcard(s) and i love them (sadly true)

them both keeping the bit where gem complimented her red skin. gem saying that she loves pearls red outfit sm. pearl trying to douse gem when her alliance tried to kill her and burn her w lava while they were talking. jsksnwnwbqle ims o sick.

when pearl got killed by grian, cleo ran straight for him. she ignored joel who was stabbing her in the back (literal). she tried so hard to blast grian off that cliff. i dont think she was trying to protect ren, who was getting chased by grian. she didnt yell at him, she was jst quiet and absolutely pissed that pearl died. i mean who wouldnt tbf. pearl was the only remaining teammate of the main 4 g's afterall. ohhhhshdbwb my moonrot heart has been revived.

the life series gals should team up next season i mean WHAT WHO SAID THAT.
