While I can’t recall the exact post, someone brought it up before that one thing that makes Shinkai good is that each one of his movies is different. Some articles will say he made the same movie three times (Your Name, WWY and Suzume) or that it’s too heteronormative and while I agree that there could be more LGBTQ rep it seems a bit unfair to claim every one of his movies is a copy of the one before. The Place Promised in Our Early Days and 5 Centimeters Per Second are quite different from each other. The Garden of Words is also a change from those before it. Some viewed WWY as just a copy of Your Name but I’d disagree as the themes in WWY challenge the traditional collectivist mindset of Japan and it feels more complete with a more fleshed out romance. Shinkai felt boxed in by “boy meets girl” stories which is why he downplayed romance and made Suzume more of a story about community and healing from trauma. What I’m trying to say is don’t expect every film of his to be another Your Name in both a positive or negative sense especially with talks of his next project coming up. There’s more to his repertoire than just one movie and demanding every film be the same is setting yourself up for disappointment.

in any case Nà might warm up to the idea. At first it’s definitely a jarring concept. Like what do you do for the rest of your life as an immortal? Surely life gets boring, right? Ofc, in attempt to make her more prone to wanting immortality, the boys might tell her all the stories they’ve collected for living this long. Eventually Nà might accept the idea, but there are things that she’s still super unsure of.

For instance, her family. It would just feel so unfair that she gets to continue living her life as an immortal, while her parents continue to get older and older. It’s a tough thing to try and get over. It feels selfish almost. I would think this would be her biggest block from wanting to become immortal.

It might be a constant back and forth for a while. She does care about the boys, it would be an honor to continue living the rest of her life around them, but she still has a special place in her heart for her parents. This thought would be sitting for a while before Nà makes a final decision.

Also I would think Wukong would be the type to say “we’ll just make a family of our own”

the most fridged woman poll is making me Think and my thoughts are that it's so sad that all these women (16!! with 8 from fallout 4 alone) had to die to add tragedy, whether to their significant other's backstory (carla boone, catherine, lucy maccready) or to the narrative as a whole (glory, sarah lyons, vera keyes)

barring the ones we meet in game before they die, we know almost nothing about them. we don't know their wants, their dreams. we don't even know what most of them look like! and what is more terrible is that a lot of them - most of the ones from fallout 4, let's be honest - have no impact on the game's story or their significant other's character arc. who here knows deacon's wife's name off the top of their head?

these women are just a footnote, an aside. the writers really said "btw, she died and that's why he's sad and angry :(" and it's so frustrating and so damning for the series as a whole. it sucks here!!!!
