>BOREAL: Hello?????

Boreal shouted across the sand towards where the loud thud came from, seemingly coming from the trees behind her. She couldn’t tell what caused the sound, so she hurried over more out of curiosity than worry. As she approached, she could tell there was a fresh break in a tree branch. Something had caused it to snap and fall. When she arrived, she quickly found the source of the noise.

>BOREAL: Woah!!! Are you okay??? Did you fall out of there??? That’s scary for you, you’re not a flying type you’re pretty much the opposite!!

The Riolu bounced upright once they heard a voice, dodging Boreal entirely and keeping their distance.

>BOREAL: Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you!! I guess you’re okay if you got up that quick! Ummm…

>JAVA: ... Who might you be...?

>BOREAL: My name’s Boreal!! Java was it?? Like the coffee????? That’s so FUN I was never allowed to have coffee it always seemed so mysterious.. Do you wanna join me by the shore? It’s a bit nicer over there and we can see how you’re feeling!!!

Java stared for a moment at Boreal, more confused at the situation than anything else. It took a second for a reply to form.

>JAVA: Yeah.. The shore sounds nice, I’ll follow you there?”

Boreal smiled and nodded, then turned around to walk back towards the beach.

>JAVA: Boreal...

River gives the Shinx a huge smile, gesturing to the sandy beaches around him. “Nah, we don’t live on the beach or anything, we’re just here to think and talk!” He lowers his voice slightly, almost conspiratorially.

“Between you and me, I think that Molly was playing in the sand earlier. Don’t tell her I said that, she likes to pretend to be tough. She’s not a huge fan of the water, so getting her to the beach in the first place is a big deal.”

we live by a big ocean, with lots of huge icebergs and gigantic pokemon making big splashes! my sibling tells me there's a lot of underwater caves with really pretty ice formations too, but i'm not used to swimming in freezing water like they are so i haven't seen them myself. our forests are mostly pine trees, which aren't great for climbing but they don't block out the sky which is prettiest at night, especially when there's an aurora!

ah, um, but, i hope you can go back home and see your family sometime. your home sounds just as nice as mine! if you want, i can stay until your friend comes back, if you'd like someone to talk to. i don't mind sitting in the rain at all!

Java stood at the beginning of the sand, right on the edge of the forest, and watched as Boreal made her way to the shore. She sat down just far enough away from the waves to not get wet, as if she knew the ocean like the back of her paw.

They weren't sure what to make of her. Chipper, upbeat… and rather unfazed by a random stranger dropping out of a tree. Was that a common occurrence for her? Nah. Maybe? Huh. Either way, they felt a little more at ease after crashing in on her, and slowly Java walked towards the Shinx and sat down near her.

Java's ear twitched, then they glanced over towards Boreal.

>BOREAL: .. yeah! It's not bad, it's a more popular place so other Pokemon stop by a lot!!

>JAVA: Oh okay that sounds better! I guess I did stop by too huh.

>BOREAL: YEAH LIKE YOU!!! Maybe we can build a sandcastle??? Though I guess it is getting late…

Boreal looked out towards the ocean where the sun was beginning to set on the horizon.

>BOREAL: I guess next time…

Boreal stood up

>BOREAL: It was Java right…? Well.. it was nice meeting you today!! I hope you're feeling okay after falling, though I think you seem good!!

>JAVA: Yeah it's Java! Likewise! Umm… Have a good night?

>BOREAL: You too!

Boreal made her way back to the edge of the beach, just where the grass and trees began before giving way to the forest. Like every night, she curled up under the tree closest to the shore on a large pile of leaves. The sun set, and just like that the stars lit up the sky. Java sat alone, slightly unsure of what to do next.

>JAVA: … I guess I'll try to sleep too. The stars do look gorgeous though, that's impressive.

Heyo Boreal i was curious how many shinx have ya met while on your adventures and have ya seen many with my furpattern just curious is all kitty doesn't get out much

>BOREAL: Oh hi!!! Hmmm how many shinx?? Well I grew up with a few families, we kinda all lived together?? So plenty of shinx there but even while I was traveling with my friend we saw plenty!!! I stood out a little just because I'm from a northern place so I'm a little different... Or so my friend said.

But a pattern like yours?

>BOREAL: I can’t really remember any off the top of my head!! There are always yellow or gold Shinx... shinies? I think people called them, which I see a lot of different colorations like that. Lots of different shades of blue depending on where you went... Not many speckle starry looking ones like you though!!

Marzipan: Hi nice to meet you I love your hat!! Do you like battling? It's so warm here and with THIS weather I bet everyone who trains here gets super strong

… I don’t remember the word HEH BUT hopefully you understand??? I can see why people would want to battle here though!!! The weather is always usually super nice but most others I meet are here just to rest!

Hi... sorry I wasn’t really expecting someone with all the rain. But ummmm yeah…! It’s where my family is from. And where I grew up! It was umm... a northern point of a ..region. I love it a bunch!! This place is super nice too but I do miss the snow. my family.. And all the trees! well it was mostly snow but the forest was big too. Honestly feels kinda like here, open with a nearby forest... except like twenty million degrees colder! Is where you're from like that too???

[ She paused to think for a second ]

Oh sorry you asked me hmm. I wouldn’t say I uhh live…? Here. Or moved here! In the sense that I live here now forever… More just staying for a little. I’m waiting for a friend to visit before we head out again together! He and I travel a lot together, which is super fun!!! They should be back soon though!!

[ Boreal took the list by hand and read it to herself. It was from a Pokemon by the name of Somni, and it had a list of three items:

Something soft I can lay on or wrap myself in.

A warm, comforting drink.

Dessert made in the shape of a star. ]

>BOREAL: so… a blanket, a warm beverage, or dessert… hmm. WELL!!!!!!!!!! I can do one of those I think!!! I don't think I can make a blanket unless they want sand … or leaves… but that doesn't sound ummm soft. leaves are too crinkly. DRINK though I think there are some good things to make that from back in the forest off the shore. I remember mom making some nice hot drinks out of berries back home… I think I remember how to do that!!

I guess we'll see what I can find…

>BOREAL: Okay!!! The mug should work just fine!! and the leaves can help keep it warm, should be toasty still… I guess I just uhhh … leave it at my post office??? I GOTTA STAY UP THOUGH I wanna see how this all works!!

It was something that my mom always made for me back when I was home… it was always so cold there and it warmed us up so well!! I helped out some times with making it so I was able to do it again, but with some berries and ingredients I had with me… It's sweet!!! I hope that's okay I always liked sweet myself umm i'm running out of room to write but I hope it's still warm enough it should be and I hope you enjoy it take care where ever you are!!!!!!!!

[ Boreal's eyes lit up with tremendous excitement at the thought, but she paused for a second remembering what she was asked. ]

>BOREAL: Oh wait no you asked if I needed anything, sorry that was just really exciting umm!! Hmmmm I don’t think I’ve thought about that. I like what I have now… my hat blocks the sun but like one of those realllllllllly big umbrellas could be super fun I think! I don’t really need it but they look nice, don’t you think? I’d nap under it for HOURS!!
