[NEW] designates changes to this revision SUBJECT Reactivation of BMW Assist Services 2020-2020 BMW 650i Coupe (E63) V8-4.8L (N62TU) Page 329 2020-2020 BMW 650i Coupe (E63) V8-4.8L (N62TU) Page 330 [NEW] MODEL [NEW] SITUATION The embedded phone in the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) is deactivated or was never activated with the wireless carrier; and/or the unit does not have a BMW Assist service initialized for one of the following reasons: ^ BMW Assist(TM) services have lapsed due to non-renewal by the current customer. ^ The vehicle was never enrolled (ESA not completed within 45 days of the Retail Date). ^ Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) or used vehicles where the new customer did not enroll in BMW Assist services. ^ The subscriber originally declined BMW Assist services. ^ A US spec vehicle that was purchased in one of the following ways: 1. Overseas by a person using the Military Sales purchase program. 2. Gray market vehicle. 3. A vehicle purchased overseas by a diplomat. ^ An Electronic Subscriber Agreement (ESA) cannot be created on any vehicle that is not registered in the BMW of North America, LLC warranty system. Prior to following the procedure in the bulletin, see SI B 01 12 04 (Warranty Coverage: "In Transit" Vehicles and Validation of US and Non-US Vehicles) for more details on registering a vehicle. The TCU should not be replaced, but reactivated per the following procedure, if the customer wishes to enroll and receive BMW Assist services. Check the vehicle's eligibility status in the DCSnet service history. Document the following information: ^ "Assist Safety Plan expires" date ^ TCU ESN/TCU IMEI status: "INACTIVE" or "ACTIVE" 2. Identify which TCU type is installed in the vehicle by referring to the model section in this bulletin. ^ CDMA: proceed to step 3. ^ GSM: proceed to step 10. ^ INACTIVE: If the customer previously declined or did not renew the BMW Assist services, or if a subscriber agreement was never processed or received, BMW NA deactivates the wireless carrier and Response Center services. ^ ACTIVE: The TCU is still activated on the wireless carrier network. The "Assist Safety Plan expires" must be beyond today's date, and the TCU must be active BMW Assist services to work. ^ The complete reactivation process must be followed for the services to work. 2020-2020 BMW 650i Coupe (E63) V8-4.8L (N62TU) Page 343 3. On CDMA TCUs, verify the work that needs to be performed, using the chart below. ^ Important information on vehicles equipped with a CDMA TCU from 9/05 production, or if the TCU was replaced on a pre-9/05 production vehicle with newer hardware: ^ To comply with wireless service provider restrictions, when a BMW Assist account expires, BMW of North America, LLC must prevent the Network Access Device (NAD) from registering on the wireless network. If a BMW Assist account has expired and the vehicle was produced after 9/05 production, BMW may send the Power Off Command (POC) to the TCU. This means that the NAD will not turn on or register on the network. ^ When a TCU receives the POC, the BMW workshop tools will not be able to communicate with the NAD. When the DIS/GT1 is unable to communicate with the NAD, the tester will NOT display any information when trying to read the ESN, MIN or MDN. For vehicles which have received the POC, an alternate test module must be used to turn the NAD back on. 4. Using the above time estimates, identify the scope of work that needs to be performed. Provide the customer with an estimate to reactivate BMW Assist services. 5. If the customer wishes to reactivate BMW Assist services, he or she must complete a valid, active subscriber agreement with the BMW Assist Response Center through the enrollment application on DCSnet, located at Sales | BMW Assist | Electronic Subscriber Agreement. ^ Incentives for renewing BMW Assist services: The BMW Assist incentive for selling term extensions is $20 per year of renewed service. For additional information, please visit BMW/BMW Assist/Bulletins on Centernet and review Parts bulletin B84 07 06 (BMW Assist Enrollment Sales Incentive Program). 6. Upon completion of an Electronic Subscriber Agreement (ESA), the TCU will be automatically reactivated with the wireless carrier. A new Mobile Identification Number (MIN) and Mobile Device Number (MDN) will be automatically assigned within 20 minutes. ^ Wait 20 minutes before printing an updated DCSnet vehicle history report, so that the new numbers are displayed. 7. The MIN and MDN are displayed after the reactivation for 14 days. Print this page for the technician to complete the TCU reactivation process by writing the numbers in to the TCU. 2020-2020 BMW 650i Coupe (E63) V8-4.8L (N62TU) Page 344 8. If the MIN and MDN information is required outside this reactivation period, please call the Telematics Analyst to obtain this information prior to having a technician complete the reactivation process. A return call or fax from the Telematics Analyst with the new MIN and MDN will occur within three hours during business hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM EST). if the customer is waiting, fax the BMW Assist reactivation form and call the telematics Analyst to expedite the process. 9. Provide the technician a copy of the DCSnet service history report, showing the new MIN and MDN. 10. GSM: The Mobile Subscriber International Services Digital Network Number (MSISDN) is NOT needed during the reactivation process. If you need the MSISDN or if the ICC-ID was not automatically reactivated, obtain this information by faxing the BMW Assist reactivation form. A return call or fax from the Telematics Analyst with the new MSISDN will occur within three hours during business hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM EST). If the customer is waiting, fax the BMW Assist reactivation form and call the Telematics Analyst to expedite the process. 11. On GSM TCUs, verify the work that needs to be performed using the below chart. 12. Using the above time estimates, identify the scope of work that needs to be performed. Provide the customer with an estimate to reactivate BMW Assist services. 13. How reliable are the 2009 and 2012 BMW X3? via /r/cars

How reliable are the 2009 and 2012 BMW X3?

Those are looking to be my next car. I’ve read lots of reviews saying those are the most reliable of all models as of now. Especially the 35i engine.

What are your experiences with those cars?

Is maintenance cost high or good to somewhat average?

My 2010 explorer annually cost me about $200 for oil changes ( two full synthetic changes) tops with oil changes, some years more when i gotta replace parts like brakes and tires and spark plugs etc etc.

There are others like the LR4 but my first choice is the X3.

I live in Southern California, I have been looking for work since I moved here from France. I posted a general sales resume on careerbuilder.com and have since been spammed by insurance agencies. Some have been good companies like State Farm and Farmers. Some have been less, like Colonial Life and Axa advisers. I believe Axa wanted me for a commissioned investment broker position. Dental Insurance Company Denying Authorization for Covered Plan Services.?

Anthem Blue Cross Dental Net I was referred to an oral surgeon by my primary care dentist since I have to have 6 teeth and 2 residual root tips extracted in advance of getting a full upper denture. All the extractions including the root tips have to be done during one visit, which necessitates the use of IV sedation. My general dentist cannot perform any of this work. Anthem Blue Cross Dental Net denied the original pre-authorization request, and subsequent appeal stating that my general dentist can perform the services being referred. Which is absolutely not the case. I even spoke with a customer service rep who indicated that the extraction of residual root tips is definitely a referable service and it clearly states that in their Dental Net Provider Contract. BMW recalls more than 1 million cars over fire risk

BMW in the United States is recalling more than 1 million cars and SUVs due to the risk of fire.

As a result of the recall, BMW are even recommending that people park their cars outdoors until repairs are made.

A spokesman for BMW has said that the risk of fire is very low but just in case of any potential risk they have recommended that the vehicles should say outside “in an abundance of caution.”

The repairs are expected to start on Dec. 18. The largest of the recalls covers over 740,000 vehicles including the models 328i, 328xi, 328i xDrive, 525i, 525xi, 528i, 528xi, 530i, 530xi, X3 3.0si, X3 xDrive30i, X5 xDrive30i, Z4 3.0i, Z4 3.0si and Z4 sDrive30i vehicles from 2007-2011. Also included is the 2008-2011 128i all having 6-Cylinder engines.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration posted documents of Friday showing that a heater for the positive crankcase ventilation valve can overheat and cause the valve to melt. This melting has proven in some cases to increase the risk of a fire even when the vehicle is not in use.

So far, thankfully, no injuries have been reported. Dealers will replace the heater. The heater is designed to prevent the valve from freezing in cold temperatures.

Hector Arellano-Belloc, a BMW spokesman said that irregularities in manufacturing can cause corrosion which in turn can lead to overheating.

The other recall covers nearly 673,000 cars including the 323i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi and M3 from the 2006-2011 model years. Also covered are the 2007-2011 328i xDrive, 335i xDrive and 335is, and the 2009-2011 335d.

The specifics of the problem lies with the wiring for the heating and air conditioning system which can overheat and cause the connectors to melt, which naturally increasing the fire risk, even when vehicles are unattended.

So far, four drivers reported some injuries due to the fire hazard when the wiring connections corroded and cause fires.

Dealers are preparing for the recall and will replace the wiring and connectors on all the vehicles affected.

In all the U.S. will recall about 1.4 million vehicles and about 80,000 vehicles also are being recalled in Canada for the crankcase ventilation valve heater. The company is reviewing whether the wiring recall will apply to Canadian vehicles as well?
