Anyways I was going to look up what he ACTUALLY said about sex and gender in the Lara-Su Chronicles, but I made the mistake of.

Yeah. No. Every time I find something he's said interesting, he suddenly left-field starts screaming about how it's totally normal for teenagers to be sexually intimate with adults, and using depictions that are CLEARLY from stories about CSA experiences to be like, 'see, women did it, so I'm fine to uncritically talk in detail about how a 23 year old fucked a 16 year old!'. God, fuck me and my eyeballs. What a nonce.

Anyways I DID find it eventually - what he said is that Echyd'nyas are genderfluid until they come of age, where they get to choose which they'd like to be. He does use the word 'genderfluid', but I doubt he knows what he's saying, as he then says 'gender bending' when talking about it elsewhere. Thanks, Ken. Eh.. He's not intentionally transphobic, and he does support trans rights, but a lot of what he writes leaves a lot to be desired. I don't think he's writing this stuff in to be trans inclusive, though. I also think that the transgender undertones in Lara-Su's story are simply because he writes such broad characters without much intention behind the way that they are written.

Anyways I made the joke about my version of Lara-Su 25yl (the same arc Lara-Su Chronicles is based off of) being similar, because I have it that Echidnas can just change their gender, and nobody really thinks much of it. Though, I'm talking about hormones and surgery, rather than the high-fantasy body-morphing aparrently going on in LSC. ALSO, we both explicitly stated that transphobia and homophobia don't exist in our stories ^^" Well, it IS a misunderstanding of why we hate Ken to assume that he's this bogeyman who's wrong about everything. Even the worst people on this world can relate to you... You'll do well to remember that. Stay safe out there.
