Day 14:one lending the other their scarf to keep them warm.
Fandom:Big Hero Six
Character:Tadashi Hamada
Naughty or Nice.
A/n: We're just gonna ignore the fact he died in a fiery explosion
"Are you alright? Want me to bring you ho-."
Eyes going wide you quickly wrapped your arms around Tadashi's arm. "No! I'm fine! Really." Inching closer to your boyfriend you did your best to stay warm. You rather not end date early because you forgot to grab something else to keep you warm on apparently one of the coldest night's in the city.
Sighing,Tadashi gave you a light smile followed by a kiss to your head. His fingers rubbing your back until he stopped walking. He hated seeing you like this, hated seeing you shiver but he knew how stubborn you were.
"Here." Tugging off his scarf Tadashi then wrapped it around her neck. Smiling he then gave you a gentle kiss as he wrapped his arms around your waist as he nuzzled his nose into yours. "Now you won't be cold."
Beaming you gave him one last kiss then wove your fingers through his. "I have the greatest boyfriend around."
Chuckling, he gave your hand a squeeze as you both started to walk down the snow covered street. "I am pretty wonderful."

Instant Regret- Tadashi Hamada x Reader
“But I miss you, I’m sorry” - Gracie Abrams

You would think that no matter how big or small the arguments would get, that you would always find a way back to each other. But it really wasn’t the case for the two of you.
You’ve gotten a job opportunity at the company of your dreams. However, their office is ten thousand miles away from home. At first, you weren’t sure what to do. You built your life around getting into the company of your dreams, however you never prepared yourself for the day that you have to leave San Fransokyo. Not only that, you would be leaving Tadashi behind. But after a few days of hesitation, you decided to take the risk and go for it.
You and Tadashi were in your apartment watching your favorite TV show while eating Chinese take out. You couldn’t concentrate on the current episode of That 70’s Show because you didn’t know how to tell Tadashi about the job. If you tell him about it, he would for sure be supportive of it. Right? It’s not like he would just tell you to turn it down…
“Something wrong Y/N”? He snaps you out of your daze.
“No! Nothing’s wrong”. You quickly said.
“You sure? You barely touched your eggplant and tofu”. He pointed at your food with his chopsticks.
You look down at the take out box. It was barely half empty.
“I’m just not hungry”. You said, playing with your food.
“Y/N, if something’s bothering you, you can always talk to me”. Said Tadashi.
You look down at the food. “I guess it’s time”. You thought.
You put your food down and turned off the TV. You turned to him and gently held his hands.
“There is something I’ve been meaning to tell you”. You confessed.
“Okay”. He turns to you. “You got my full attention”.
“Well, remember I told you about that job interview for that company I always wanted to work at”? You started.
He thought for a bit before replying. “The one with the virtual reality and AI research?”
You nodded.
“Well…” you sighed.
“I got the job”. You looked up at him giving him a small smile.
His eyes lit up and he started smiling ear to ear. “Y/N that’s amazing! See! I knew they would like you”! He hugged you tightly.
“Yeah. However, they want me to work at their London office”. You added.
Tadashi’s face fell as he let go of you. “Oh, I see”.
“I know, I promised I would stay, but I didn’t think they would relocate me. But hey, we’ve been through this before. Who said we couldn’t do it again ”. You said
“Yeah, yeah totally”. Tadashi looked at the ground.
You noticed his facial expression. It was a mix of sadness and disappointment. You knew that he wouldn’t approve of this.
“Did I say something wrong”? You ask.
“It’s nothing like that, it’s just”… he trailed off
“It’s just what”? You pressed on.
He let out a sigh before continuing “I had a plan for us to move in together after college. For us to start our life together”.
“I know this is a huge shift from what we’ve planned Tadashi. But this is my dream, you know I couldn’t just let this slip by”. You said in attempts to justify your reasons .
“What about us and everything we built”? He said, emphasizing on “us”.
“Well what about me? You knew how important this job and this company is to me”! You exclaimed
“Am I not important to you”? He asks
“You are, that’s not what I meant. I just thought you would be more supportive of me”.
“I was so supportive Y/N! I supported you when you went abroad for a semester, I supported when you had that 8 week internship over the summer! I was there for you through thick and thin, and now you’re leaving again”? He raise his voice.
You tried to calm the situation down, “Tadashi please I”-
“You never think about the consequences of your decisions and how it affects others. YOU ARE SO INCREDIBLY SELFISH”. He yelled, his words piercing into your ego.
You were both sitting on opposites sides of your black leather couch. The room fell silent. The only thing you both could hear was the clock ticking away and you attempting to muffle your sniffles. But before long, you hear Tadashi letting out a sigh, breaking the short term silence. between the two of you.
“I don’t know if I can wait for you this time Y/N”. Tadashi looks at you.
“No. Please stay. I want you to stay”. Your mind screamed.
“Then leave”.
You felt the couch cushions rise as Tadashi got up. He grabbed his hat from the hooks along with his keys.
Before he closed the apartment door, he looked at you hoping you would say something to make him stay. But you just sat there and stared at the blank TV.
“Goodbye Y/N”. He shuts the door.
And that was the last time you ever saw him.
The next thing you know, you got a call from Aunt Cass. She slowly broke the news about Tadashi’s passing. At first you thought Tadashi was doing this in retaliation for what happened a few weeks ago. But after the news broke out about the fire that killed Tadashi and Professor Callahan, the sad reality settles in. Tadashi is gone.
The funeral was short and simple. You stood in silence, hovering over your late boyfriend’s tomb stone while everyone around you cried. You didn’t think this was going to happen. It wasn’t supposed to happen.
You weren’t planning on sticking around during the reception. But before you could leave, Aunt Cass stopped you.
“Tadashi wrote something for you”. She hands you a white envelope.
You thanked her and began to make your way to the door. But as you were about to leave, you made eye contact with Hiro. You were about to say something, but he disappeared into his room.
You came back to your semi empty apartment physically and emotionally drained. All of your furniture has been shipped to your new apartment in london, and the only thing left is a small white mattress and a few cardboard boxes stacked into a pyramid. You took a bottle of wine from one of the moving boxes and drank out of it. You sat on the floor, letting your head fall back against the wall. Looking down at the envelope, you carefully opened it. You took out the paper and unfolded it.
Dear Y/N,
I wanted to call or text you, but I don’t think you would respond. I’ll be sending this to you after the SFIT showcase. You know that I’m never good with words or with writing down my feelings, so bear with me.
I want to start off by saying, I’m sorry. I’m sorry for calling you selfish. You were so excited about your dream job, and I ruined our night. You were never selfish to begin with, I was. The truth is, I got scared. I know we’ve done long distance in the past, but the thought of us eventually drifting apart scared me. I should’ve been more vulnerable when it came down with these things, but I didn’t know how to bring it up.
I never want to loose you. I couldn’t imagine my life without you. Remember during our date at the butterfly gardens, we were all alone in the auditorium and I randomly blurted out “I want us to last forever”. Well, when I said forever, I meant it. I want us to last for a lifetime.
If anything, I want you to take that job. You’ve worked so hard for it and I bet you would make a great employee at the London office. understand that I cause you some pain, and I don’t expect you to forgive me now. But when you’re ready, I’ll be here, waiting for you.
I love you so much Y/N.
Sincerely,
Tadashi
You buried your head in your arms as you let out loud sobs. You cries drowned out the sounds of the thunder and rain outside.
You couldn’t help but wonder what life would be like if you never took that job offer. What would happen if you apologized to him. Telling him how much you loved him, telling him to stay. The amount of instant regret fills up your heart, and there was no way of getting rid of the grief that came with it.
“I miss you, I’m sorry”.

tadashi headcanons
tadashi is here
generally
goody two shoes
never touches alcohol; will get asian flush after the first two shots
has never grown out his hair past the middle of his ears
boxer briefs kinda guy
owns a collection of scarves and gloves because he likes being warm and cozy
plays guitar or some instrument (he has to hes asian asians know)
not only surfs (a surfboard can be seen in his part of the room in some scenes) but also plays tennis and runs
has been approached for modeling gigs because he's well built and tall but he's turned them down, simply not interested in them
not very active on social media but whenever he remembers he has an account he just posts whatever he found interesting for the day like it could be mochi, a bowl of ramen, or littered packaging on the side of the street and then he would disappear off the face of the platform
sent to karate lessons as a kid so knows a bit of self defense which came clutch in situations spawned by hiro's teenage recklessness
he's the type to hide his injuries from his loved ones but get worried over the smallest cuts for them
sleeps like a fucking rock he needs several alarms and even aunt cass telling hiro to cause a ruckus to wake him tf up
learned how to cook from aunt cass because sometimes she is busy and away and hiro gets hungry
learned japanese conversationally from while his parents were still around, routinely tries to upkeep and improve his language ability through japanese books, movies and media
tries to teach hiro and get him to do the same but with hiro's young age and boredom from school he really doesn't think about anything other than his own interests robotics projects and botfighting
listens to pop and calm instrumental music like bossa nova
lowkey a swiftie
heavily dependent on caffeine; like near finals and midterms he can't function without coffee
until at some point he tried out matcha and was completely blown at how the matcha latte didn't give him jitters and caffeine spikes
so a matcha guy but will drink coffee if it's the only thing around
he's not lactose intolerant but hiro is and he makes fun of him for it
has really bad allergies though
keeps an extra futon in the storage of his lab because there have been way too many nights where he just passed out on the floor of his lab too exhausted to go home
i could see him in a VW beetle
or just any car that would run
appreciates any weather for what little delights they hold but interestingly i'd say he's a cloudy, chilly, crisp cold air that makes your breath look like steam, on-the-verge-of-raining day guy because he gets to bust out his cardigan and blazers and make himself a warm little drink
smells like fresh laundry, coffee and delightful little pastries -- like stepping into a warm bakery on a chilly day-- because the brothers have to help Cass open
on days he's busy with baymax and other robotics projects he comes out of his lab smelling more like metal, lubricant, oil, soldering-- all that stuff that comes with mechanical tinkering and is conscious of it; if he has a class after he will go home and shower and make himself a matcha latte and he smells like a bakery all over again
crazy well-regarded not just in his own department but in school overall
like not only was he able to make a portable huggable robot capable of 10,000 medical procedures with a built in defibrillator which is actually insane legend crazy work on its own
but he's insanely nice and kind to anyone he passes by on campus and offers help whenever he can
^ many girls and even some guys are head over heels for him they can't fathom that he's a real person and not some prince that came out of a fairytale
he's lowkey a loser when it comes to his brother (and other aspects covered later) though
since hiro and aunt cass are all he has left of his family he's insanely protective of them, especially hiro who is in his teenage rebellious years
like in an argument with hiro when hiro says something mean to him in the heat of the moment like "Why are you like this?! It's none of your business!!" or whatever he gets sad and even beats himself over it lowkey like "Am I a bad brother after all...?"
there have been multiple instances in which he didn't hang with the gang because he wouldn't trust hiro to run off and get into a botfight in some shady ass crevice of the city SCENE: hiro is grounded by tadashi yet again and tadashi insists to escort hiro to and from school Hiro: Why do I have to be dropped off by you? And you're picking me up too?! And why do I have to wear this stupid T-Shirt?!!! [t-shirt says "i got in trouble for not listening to my brother and nearly getting us arrested]
like look me in my tumblr icon and tell me that's never happened bruh
lowkey needs glasses but has contacts, will wear them if in a rush
hes a cool robotic genius prince in shining armor whos also lowkey really lame and dorky 😭😭😭
romantically
since he's a goody-two-shoes so he's low-key romantically inexperienced and easily flustered
^ he's probably a virgin ngl
like he gets bitches "oh tadashi? from the robotics department? yeah he's really nice; he helped me carry some stuff this one time. and suuuper cute. would." / "yeah I would date tadashi if I weren't, you know, a heterosexual guy" ...but he doesn't act on any of the action he gets
part of the reason being that hiro hamada exists and that alone is a responsibility in itself
like he had to sew GPS tracking systems into hiro's clothes if he went on a date his date would get interrupted by hiro's jacket pinging from some sketchy ass dead end alleyway like 4 miles away
and even if he brought someone home he wouldn't be able to do anything peacefully since he shares a room with hiro, the only thing separating the brothers being a thin, timeworn shoji partitioning
would blush if brought into a victoria's secret-- he wouldn't know where to put his eyes so he would be flustered and his eyes darting all over the place
^ if one were to ask if he was okay from all the victoria's secrets being revealed in front of him he would stutter like a stereotypical flustered teenage boy
love isnt limited by gender kinda guy
he's just a chill guy who has so much love to spread all around you know
bigger spoon, loves cuddling
love languages acts of service and quality time
vvvvvvv sweet and considerate
sooo gentlemanly
is a clingy sticky affectionate sappy drunk to his s/o
free pastries and coffee for breakfast from the lucky cat cafe
would cook for his s/o maybe even breakfast in bed
would help wash and blow dry s/o hair
very polite (very demure very mindful LOL) often asks before a lot of things "can I hold your hand?" "can I help you with that?" "can I hug you?"
gives his s/o rides home on days they have to go home at night because lets face it even san fransokyo in 20thirtysomething has sketchy dangerous bums
he is very athletic and has crazy endurance from playing sports all throughout school and having to run, chase after, and rescue hiro out of botfighting "misunderstandings"...
^ crazy endurance... iykwim...
soft top, would be open to reasonable experimentation
rarely gets jealous but if he does, bottles it up
until he cant anymore and he does some slightly possessive stuff like putting his jacket over his s/o and he will feel a little romantical when he is alone with them iykwim
is sooo cute just trust
some darker stuff maybe(?) tw/ trauma, death, unresolved issues or whatever idk
as hard as he is on hiro and his loved ones he's hardest on himself
he was old enough to remember and feel his parents death so it was harder on him than it was for hiro
part of the reason why he wants so desperately to help everyone is because he wishes he could have done something to save his parents
it's not explicitly stated but i get the feeling their parents died instantly from a terrible accident that unfortunately first responders weren't able to save (which was probably the inspiration for Baymax, who is portable and capable of 10,000 medical procedures which is crazy work btw)
he lowkey has survivors guilt from it
any nightmares he has of his parents and the accident and he wakes up panicking and teary-eyed he goes to the bathroom to compose himself to not let it affect hiro
lowkey he might have a small issue of basing some of his self-worth off how helpful he is
nevertheless he's a well-adjusted and healthy young man who has gone to therapy and overcome his trauma but experiences from his past influence and manifest in his work of trying to help others through robotics
which manifested in many sleepless days and nights and innumerable pots of coffee during baymax's development stages
hates health insurance companies (don't ask how he feels about luigi's mansion)
hes so so gorg i love love love like since forever

Hiro Hamada x HSP!reader
A/N: This was inspired by some of @bomber-grl's Hiro Hamada x readers. I decided to make one of this, because I love him too.
He knows. He knows. He knows that you're an hsp.
I don't know where to start but, Hsps are the most misunderstood people in the world.
Hsp like you are taken for granted and mocked for their sensitivity.
Like, as if these guys are any better.
Hiro understood you, he is one of the people in your life who understands that you hate certain things.
Like, one day, a guy argued with you in school. You didn't wanna fight, but that guy kept on belittling you.
You cried the whole day. You couldn't help it.
You feel your emotions more than the rest of the people.
Heck, you hate crowds!
Hiro knew what happened and so, he decided to stay with you.
You guys didn't speak, but his presence comforted you.
Overstimulation is a pain in the ass.
Baymax, earlier, educated Hiro about HSPs. So, it was good for you that you had someone who can understand what you've been through.
You feel like it was a curse.
"C'mon, (N.). It's not a curse. Think of it as a blessing."
Once you calmed down, he took you to his aunt's cafe.
You guys ordered a smoothie, some pastries and cakes.
Baymax's hugs help you whenever you're feeling overwhelmed.
And after that, Hiro...um...
He, along with BH6, may or may not had hunted that guy down and threatened him. He would never, right? But yeah, he's quite overprotective towards you.
"Hurt her, and I'll hurt you back, and stay away from her."
Guy fainted on the spot.
Skip to the next part, you went to school. When you saw that guy, he ran away.
What the heck happened?
Um...
Anyways, Hiro took you to the park, later.
The one thing which you loved about parks was that, it was peaceful.
Heck! They even have swings!
We love swings.
Swings help you to relax whenever you feel down. It's like they understood you.
And Hiro was happy seeing you like this.

Scared to write about Tadashi's culture after I experienced reading Miguel O'hara fanfics as a Mexican. Like I had to cringe through 754,832,495,732 cariños and people confusing Spanish food for Mexican food, what if I become the very thing I sought to destroy? What if I write about Tadashi teaching the reader a language they already speak?! Or trying their own cultural practices for the first time?!

OMG IM SO NERVOUS KDJSB
but like imagine hiro with an s/o who loves to collect random stuff or like picks up rocks and gives them to hiro and is like “here this rock reminded me of you” ODMSJSHHA
i absolutely adore this ask! it might just be because i do the same thing but i’m really excited to write it. I’m so so so sorry for the delay, i had surgery in july and have been recovering since then, plus the Anniversary was last month. (yes that's a long time but please cut me some slack I have been doing my best) anyways i hope you like it! because its been so long since i started it, i wrote it a little differently than usual. it's like a little collection of moments.
also! not only do I now have an ao3, but i also have a taglist! both are linked in my navigation.
Word count: A little over 1k :)
Warnings: Big Hero Six: The Series lore thrown in (Bessie is ameteorite bear, yes it is as weird as it sounds). We are going to pretend I payed for my own matcha ice cream and know how much it was. San Fransokyo cable cars are officially Not That Expensive because I said so. i apparently really like the word intertwine
"I'm back!" You exclaim, sitting down on Hiro's bed to look at him. He was still in the same position as when you had left, staring blankly at his computer screen, he had been trying to fix something on Baymax's suit and you could tell by his slumped posture he hadn't succeeded yet. He brightens up at your voice, and rolls his chair around to face you.
"How was your adventure into the woods?" He asks, pressing the save button on his document.
"Your phrasing makes it sound like there was a seventy percent chance that I would have dropped dead as soon as I heard a bird that isn't a pigeon."
"There's moose, mosquitos, and Bessie in those woods Y/N. I'd say eighty."
"Bessie likes me Hiro. Because I appreciate nature while you would rather wither away staring at a screen."
"Bessie doesn't like anyone. She's a bear."
"A bear that likes me." You retort, laughing at his expression. "Oh! I got you something!" You rummage in your bag and pull out a rock. "Its shaped like Mochi!"
"So a round rock." Hiro says and you gasp, cupping your hands around Mochi's ears, who had taken up residence on your lap almost as soon as you had sat down on the bed.
"Don't listen to him Mochi you are perfectly cat shaped." You coo at the cat who meows smugly in response.
Hiro takes the rock from where it lay on the bed, you had abandoned it in favor of the real Mochi, turning it over in his hands. You're right, he admits to himself, it does look uncannily like Mochi, even having discoloration where he has his patches. He moves his gaze to you and smiles, setting rock Mochi down on his desk.
"You know that ice cream place you've been wanting to go to? The one with matcha ice cream?"
You lift your head from your fussing over Mochi at his voice and smile back at him. "Yeah?"
He responds by standing up and pulling a ten dollar bill out of his pant pocket, then intertwining your fingers and pulling you up off the bed.
𓆝 𓆟 𓆞
"Hi." You say intertwining your arms around Hiro's shoulders. He's sitting in his chair playing video games with Fred, and you're leaning against the back of the chair.
"Hi." He replies, as you rest your head where his neck meets his shoulder. You stay like that for a bit until his character dies and he disconnects the call, much to Freds chagrin if the whining from Hiro's speakers is anything to go by. He then spins his chair around so you are face to face.
"Hi." He repeats watching as your face brightens in remembrance.
"Oh! I have something for you." You pull a dark feather out of your pocket, smoothing it out before handing it to him. "It reminded me of you."
"A feather reminded you of me?" He says as he turns over in his hands.
"Yeah! It's the exact color of your hair."
"I don't think my hair is this pretty in the light though." He's twisting the feather through a sun beam, watching as the hidden iridescent colors are showcased. He turns suddenly, and places it with the Mochi rock, a patterned paper crane, and a few other items.
He turns back to you and opens his arms, you accept the offer for a hug almost immediately, resting your head back on where his neck meets his shoulder.
𓆝 𓆟 𓆞
Your hands rake through the smooth quartz, and you turn a couple over in your hand before moving on to a different plastic box of crystals. You stop when you've chosen one and risk a glance over at Hiro. He is looking at the things you had handed him, the things that you picked out for yourself, this particular crystal is for him though, and you have to somehow pay for it without him noticing. Curling your hand into a fist to hide it, you tug on Hiro's jacket.
"I've found everything I need." You say smiling at him, he nods and leads the way to the cashier, placing your things on the counter, and reaching for his wallet.
"You paid for the food, I can pay for my things." He pauses.
"You sure?"
"Yeah." You wait until he's looking at what they have set up next to the counter to add the crystal to your other things, making eye contact with the cashier and then flicking your eyes over to your boyfriend. She seems to have caught your message, and wraps the crystal in tissue paper, along with a couple of the more delicate items.
"Would you like a bag?" She asks
"Yes please." You take the bag from her and intertwine your fingers with Hiro's, leading the both of you out of the shop and onto the streets of San Fransokyo.
"Where should we go next?" He asks you, bringing you closer to him by tugging on your hand, then lifting your joined hands and pressing a kiss to the back of yours.
"Hm." Your eyes scan the street you and Hiro are on, and your eyes light up at a banner that showcases the aquariums deep sea exhibit. You gasp, and turn to look at Hiro.
"You want to go the the aquarium?" He asks before you can say anything, and you nod enthusiastically. Luckily there's a cable car stop just up ahead, and you both sit on the bench as you wait. Hiro takes a drink of his water and you dig around in your bag to find his gift.
"I have something for you." You say. Hiro finishes zipping up his backpack and turns to look at you. You hand him the wrapped crystal and he unwraps it, turning the smooth rock over in his palm, and reading the little card that came with it.
"Did you get this at the shop we were just at?" He asks, a slight laugh to his tone.
"Yes." You grin at him and more of a laugh makes its way into his voice.
"I love it." He slips it into one of his backpack pockets and intertwines your fingers once more, resting his head on yours.

Reconnected (Tadashi Hamada X Reader)
First fanfic post! I hope you all enjoy :)
Summary: With Tadashi constantly at the lab working on Baymax there’s a disconnect in your relationship. Happy ending!
Warnings: none
———
“Thanks, Joan! I’ll get that done by midday tomorrow. Have a good one.”
You end the video meeting and close your laptop, letting out a long sigh as you look around your apartment. The familiar emptiness greets you once again. Tadashi, your brilliant boyfriend, had been consumed by his work for months. His latest project, a healthcare robot named Baymax, had the potential to save thousands of lives, but the complexity of it all had absorbed every waking hour of his day.
Your routine had become monotonous: after work, you’d either hit the gym or do Pilates, make yourself a simple dinner, and retreat to bed. The bed creaked in the early hours when Tadashi finally came home, and when you woke up, the other side was always empty.
Staring at your phone, you hesitate for a moment before dialing his number.
“Hey! This is Tadashi. Leave a message at the beep, and I’ll get back to you soon.”
You let out a shaky breath as his voicemail message cuts off, a knot forming in your throat. The uncertainty of your relationship weighed heavily on your heart. How much longer could you keep going like this? You needed something to change—anything.
Determined to do something about it, you hustle downstairs to the kitchen and start chopping veggies for a soup Tadashi always loved. The rhythmic sound of the knife against the cutting board helps calm your nerves, but you still feel a deep ache in your chest.
The soup bubbles away as you carefully pack it into a thermal container. You take a deep breath, grab your helmet, and hop on your moped. When you pull into the SFIT parking lot, you can’t help but chuckle softly at the sight of only one other moped parked there—Tadashi’s.
Your heart flutters, and you can’t help but wonder why seeing your own boyfriend makes you so nervous. Maybe because you didn’t know what kind of reception you’d get.
Pushing open the door to his lab, you spot him immediately. His back is hunched over the desk as he works on a small wiring issue, completely engrossed in his task.
“Hi… Tadashi…” Your voice catches slightly as you greet him.
He turns around quickly, his eyes lighting up when he sees you, but there’s a hint of concern in his expression. “Y/n! Uh, what are you doing here? It’s so late, and you’ve got work tomorrow. You should go home and get some rest.” He shifts awkwardly, as if caught off guard.
You feel your heart race, but you push through the nervousness. “I, um… I brought you something. I missed you and wanted to make sure you ate well.”
Tadashi glances down at the neatly wrapped bag you’re holding, then back at you. His expression softens, but there’s still a palpable tension. “Oh, thank you, Y/n, but… I already ate a little while ago. I really need to fix this wiring by tonight. I’ll see you at home though, okay?”
Your heart sinks, but you force a smile, nodding. “Okay, I’ll see you at home.”
You turn quickly to leave, not wanting him to see the tears welling up in your eyes. Clutching the soup to your chest, you step out of the lab and back to your moped.
This is too hard. I can’t keep being a ghost in my own relationship. You try to convince yourself that it’s all worth it, but the ache in your chest doesn’t fade.
Once back at your apartment, you change into comfortable pajamas and collapse onto the couch, too drained to deal with your emotions. You cover yourself with a blanket, trying to shut out the frustration gnawing at you.
The sound of keys jingling at your front door makes you jolt awake. It’s only 11 PM—Tadashi usually doesn’t come home until 1 or 2 AM. You sit up, confused and a little hopeful.
The door clicks open, and to your surprise, Tadashi is standing there, slightly out of breath. He’s holding a bouquet of tulips—your favorite. You walk towards the front door.
“Tadashi, what…” Your words are cut off as he steps forward, his hands gently cupping your face as he pulls you in for a kiss. His lips are warm and desperate, as if he’s been waiting to do this for so long. His arm wraps around your waist, pulling you closer, and you both sink deeper into the kiss.
After a few moments, you finally break away, breathless, and notice the tears in his eyes. Your own eyes fill with tears as well.
“Tadashi, what’s going on?”
His gaze is steady as he looks into yours, his voice trembling slightly. “I’m so, so sorry, Y/n. I’ve treated you terribly these past few months. Yes, Baymax is important to me, but you are more important. I lost sight of that. When I saw you leave my lab earlier, I realized I’ve been neglecting you, and I can’t keep doing that. I love you, Y/n. I promise, I will never forget that again.”
A wave of relief washes over you, as if a heavy weight has been lifted from your chest. You take his hands tightly, the words finally coming out as a soft whisper, “I love you, Tadashi. I’ll always support your work, but hearing you say that… it eases so much of the pain I’ve been feeling.”
Tadashi pulls you into a tight hug, his hands rubbing your back as he kisses the top of your head. “You’ve always been my greatest cheerleader. Now, let me be the one to support you.”
You smile, closing your eyes as you bury your face against his chest. His heart beats strong beneath your ear, steady and reassuring.
He sways you slowly from side to side, and you feel the tension in your body melt away. “Should we go to bed?” Tadashi asks gently.
You look up into his warm brown eyes, a soft smile spreading across your face. “Yes, let’s go.”

### 2nd POV ###
Hisses of pain escaped your lips as you tugged wires out from your shoulder. You slumped into your chair and gave one more tug, and with a click the wires disconnected from your arm. You removed the prosthetic from its place and gently laid it on the table in front of you.
It would need replacing soon... you sighed and ran your hand through your hair, trying to reach for a cloth from the table with your other hand before realising that arm was not connected to your body. You rolled your eyes at yourself and took your hand from your hair to grab the cloth, wiping the prosthetic arm down and cleaning dirt out of all the grooves.
Wasting as little time as possible, you began to break it down, replacing wires, and testing joints. You could feel the metal in your shoulder trying to reach out and rebuild what was missing, but you did your best to ignore it and instead sped up your fixes.
You looked down only to see metal slowly coiling around itself to form the very beginnings of a new arm. You quickly discarded your tools and gathered together the pieces of your arm, carefully putting them back together before reattaching your arm to your body with an uncomfortable ache. The wires put themselves back into place and you felt electricity flow through your arm again. You moved it slowly and it seemed to be a little better than before, but not much.
As you stood up, a text message covered your vision and distracted you. Someone had sent you their location - their live location. The sender had their ID hidden, but they weren’t exactly far.
You debated with yourself for a moment, trying to think logically. The likelihood of this being dangerous was low since not many people at all had access to your number, but was it really worth the risk?
Regardless, you found yourself opening the message and grabbing your helmet off the table.
### Honey Lemon's POV ###
The car slowed to a stop, and caught in the headlights were Hiro and... Baymax? Wasabi turned off the vehicle and we all got out at once.
“No, no, no!” Hiro said, clearly panicking, “Get out of here! Go!”
“Dude, what are you doing out here?” Wasabi asked him. We were all slowly walking toward him despite him wanting us to leave.
“Nothing! Just out for a walk. Helps my pubescent mood swings…” though it was very obvious he was lying and I was so worried for the boy.
“Is that Baymax?” Wasabi asked, and Gogo walked over to the robot, observing him closely.
“Why is he wearing carbon fibre underpants?” She asked, pointing at the robot in question.
“I also know karate,” Baymax added, not understanding our confusion.
Gogo threw a concerned look at Hiro, but we all looked behind the car once we heard a loud noise approaching. Someone on a motorcycle pulled up next to the car, and the second they removed their helmet, I felt my heart stop for a moment. I’m sure Gogo’s did too.
It was (y/n). They looked at us all through their prosthetic eyes with a raised eyebrow, until their eyes landed on Hiro who stood with a confused expression. They stared at Hiro for a second longer and then sighed, waiting for someone to say something.
“You need to go, all of you need to go,” Hiro tried again, pleading with us, but I didn’t want to see him do this to himself.
“No, don't push us away, Hiro, we're here for you.” I said, placing a hand on his shoulder, “That's why Baymax contacted us.”
“Oh great, I got messaged by a robot…” I heard (y/n) mumble as they ran a gloved hand through their hair.
“Those who suffer a loss require support from friends and loved ones.” Baymax stated, moving so we all stood in a semi-circle with (y/n) off to the side a little.
“Who would like to share their feelings first?” Hiro’s protests were ignored, he needed this.
“Ooh. I'll go!” Fred practically lept into the middle of the semi-circle and cleared his throat, “Okay, my name is Fred, and it has been 30 days since my last- Holy mother of Megazon!”
We all looked up to see a man dressed in black holding a shipping container above us, looking very menacing. I slowly raised my phone and took a picture, the camera flash startling the masked man.
As the container fell down, Hero. Gogo, Fred and I all tried to run from underneath it, but Wasabi froze. And screamed like a little girl…
Baymax was holding the container up though, and was pushing it back so it didn’t crush us. Hiro instructed us to get in the car, and we all did without question, with Gogo running back to get Hiro when he didn’t follow us.
At this point I had lost track of (y/n), but I spotted them again once I was in the car. There was a red glow emanating from their chest and arm - underneath their clothes - and their black gloves started to burn away at the fingertips.
I didn’t have time to process much else as they threw red lightning from their hands. It didn’t hit the man in the mask directly, but it hit the bots he was controlling. It seemed to stop them all for a moment. But there was no time for questions.
“Okay, now move!” (y/n) yelled, starting up their motorcycle and turning themself around. Wasabi started up the car at (y/n)’s command, despite Hiro’s protesting. Baymax flew through the air and landed on the roof of the car, leaving a Baymax-shaped dent in the roof. The masked man had got his bots back, and I was vaguely aware of (y/n)’s yelling from outside the car.
Wasabi started driving in reverse as quickly as he could, and Gogo was interrogating Hiro about the situation. (y/n) was ahead of us - technically behind - and bots came flooding towards us. Hiro yelled for Baymax to do something, and once he did the car spun uncontrollably, almost hitting (y/n).
Once Wasabi had control of the car again, a chase ensued.
“Hard left!” Gogo yelled, and Wasabi reacted as quickly as he could, yelling as he turned. In the back of the car, we were being thrown around as we had neglected to strap in from the panic of escaping. (y/n) was now behind us, keeping up with the car surprisingly well.
Fred stared out the back window next to me, watching the masked man as he chased us.
“That mask, the black suit…” Fred spoke out loud, “We're under attack from a supervillain, people!” I shook my head vigorously, hoping this all wasn't real.
Then Wasabi broke. Hard. My head nearly whacked against the back of the seat in front and I think (y/n) nearly drove into the back of the car.
“Why are we stopped?” Gogo asked.
“The light's red!”
“There are no red lights in a car chase!” I could tell Gogo was getting increasingly annoyed at Wasabi’s high-speed, high-pressure driving skills.
A phone rang somewhere and then stopped after two rings, I picked up my own phone even though it wasn’t my ringtone. Before I could even look at my screen, something was put in front of my face.
“Honey, hold this,” Gogo instructed as she handed me her own phone. There was a call on loudspeaker - it was (y/n).
“What the hell, guys?” they yelled. I looked out the window and saw them to the side of the car, keeping somewhat close to us but far enough away so that we couldn’t hit them.
“Why is he trying to kill us?” Wasabi asked, he then stuck his head out of the windows and yelled the same question but now directed at the masked man, “Why are you trying to kill us?”
“It's classic villain, we've seen too much!” Fred immediately said.
“Let's not jump to conclusions. We don't know he's trying to kill us.” I spoke up, trying to keep things positive.
Fred then shouted something and I saw a car had been thrown at us. (y/n) swerved out of the way in one direction and we severed in the other.
“He's trying to kill us!” I yelled before thinking.
“Honey, calm down!” (y/n) shouted back through the call, I looked out of the back window and saw they were behind us again.
“Did you just put your blinker on?” Gogo asked in response to the green flashing light in the front.
“Wasabi, oh my God!” (y/n) said through the call.
“You have to indicate your turn! It's the law!” Wasabi replied to the two in defence.
“That's. It.” Gogo took her gum out of her mouth and stuck it to the dash. She pulled Wasabi’s seat back and sat practically on him.
“(y/n),” she yelled so the phone would pick her up, “stick with me,”
“Gotcha.” and that was the calmest I’d ever heard them speak.
Gogo then put the car into four-wheel drive and sped up - a lot.
(y/n) veered around corners, either behind us or next to us, it was as though they knew exactly what direction Gogo would turn next. We fled down roads and alleyways, the weight of the situation only just keeping up with the car. I didn’t think we were even going anywhere, just trying to shake this evil guy off our tail.
As we turned another corner, the man in the mask appeared in front of us and Gogo sucked in a sharp breath through her teeth. There was a lip on the side of the road and a bridge behind where the villain waited for us.
“Gogo Tomago, don’t you dare-” (y/n) shouted through the call, Gogo either didn’t hear them or ignored them as she turned the car sideways and it flew through the air, narrowly missing all the microbots. I caught Max jumping off his motorcycle midair from the corner of my eye, and I screamed as the car jolted and we landed back on road. Then there was a thud from the roof.
“Open a window in the back!” (y/n) asked from the call, and I wound my window all the way down. The call ended after that and I worried I had broken Gogo’s phone for a second, but (y/n) crawled in through the window from the roof like some weird contortionist.
“Stop the car! Baymax and I can take this guy-” Hiro climbed into the front of the car and leaned on the door, only for the door to be ripped off by microbots that were most likely aiming for (y/n). Baymax caught Hiro before he could fall, returning him to his seat and strapping him in.
“Gogo, my bike…” (y/n) mumbled as they slumped down into the seat next to me.
“I’ll get you a new one,” Gogo replied, too focused on driving.
She sped up even more as we approached a level crossing, and she made it through with expert skill - narrowly missing the oncoming train - and a lot of scared yelling from the passengers. There was now a train between the masked man and us.
“Did we lose him?” I asked, hopeful that this might be over.
“Look out!” Wasabi yelled before I could get any answer, a tunnel of microbots forming around us. Gogo sped up to the car’s absolute limit and kept driving, but the microbots formed around us at an equal speed.
“Baymax, hold on!” Hiro instructed the robot on the roof.
“We’re not gonna make it!” Wasabi said, and I countered this with my own.
“We’re gonna make it!” It was more for me than everybody else, though I wasn’t sure how much I believed it.
Everyone in the car - other than Gogo and (y/n) - screamed as we broke through the end of the tunnel and onto… a pier.
Gogo slammed the breaks, but the car didn’t slow in time.

“And then I see you... And I love you all over again.”
Tags: midnight talks; closure; kinda painful ig; unrequited love (or is it)
Summary: Sometimes, we all try to find peace in the midst of the chaos that is happening within our lives. But how can you find chaos if the same person that brings you that same problem is also someone that you find hard to let go?
Word Count: 2697 words
The moon shined brightly above the horizon, in its full glory, putting those who are a witness to her beauty in a tranquil daze at such a magical encounter. The dark surroundings were slightly luminated by her gentle light, bringing forth to the vision little details of the path to the city and silhouette of the trees that, at that hour, seemed like they hold such mysterious secrets kept for decades. The stars twinkled and danced along side the bright luminous moon, shining on their own rhythm, singing to the light of their almighty companion.
You felt the kiss of the evening breeze, which in turn made you hug your ukulele. You let your gaze wander through the dark silhouettes of the sleeping city, the sound of the insects humming in a choir in the distance serving as your accompaniment to the acoustic music that you were trying to create at that hour. 'My', you thought to yourself, 'I wonder what's in store for me?'
Through the moment of silent contemplation, and the staring and trying to make sense of the silhouettes painted in the distance, your fingers found itself lingering on to the frets of the instrument that you held tightly between your grasps. With clueless hands and a wandering mind, you let whatever music that may be produced from your thoughtless fingertips on for the silence of the world to hear. With each motion, the small scarf tied to the neck of the ukulele made a little moving motion, slightly tickling your leg. Shifting slightly from your position, you continued on to play to the insects and the darkness.
Mindlessly, you found yourself playing the intro of a song you know by heart. As if on instinct, your hands knew the correct tempo, the precise rhythm, and the correct placement of the chords that you didn't have to take a second glance to know where your fingertips were at, because your heart knew where to place them. And with each breath you took serving as the metronome for the rhythm and the tempo.
Your phone then rang, throwing you off of the daze that you found yourself caught on. You glanced at the contact saw that it was Hiro. Smiling a bit, you placed your phone on the window sill and answered the call. You pressed the speaker button and smiled as his voice soon filled the silence of your solitude.
"Hello," you greeted.
"Hey," he replied, his voice noticeably deep.
"How was your nap?" You asked with a little giggle. He chuckled and you could hear a yawn from the other side, signifying that he just, indeed, woke up from his nap.
"Shouldn't you be sleeping? It's already late."
You giggled a bit and eyed the moon up above, humming a bit before answering his query. "The moon's beautiful tonight."
Your hand began to strum your ukulele. You let a few notes hang in the air for a moment, before you began to hum along the lyrics of the song that you were playing earlier. Somehow, you found yourself being sucked into the small world that the melody brought forth, and you almost forgot that you were in the phone with someone.
"Hold on, I have to grab something," he said, which then somehow snapped you out of the little reverie you caught yourself onto. You could hear the shuffling of the covers from the other line and you hummed in acknowledgement. Continuing to strum your ukulele, the pattern over the past second became more and more consistent, and each strum becoming more and more familiar. You waited for the cue and then began sing the first lines of the song Heavy Crown by Trixie Mattel.
"Heavy head and a heavy crown, had a few since you came to town. Where are you gonna keep them still?"
"Winning's losing with a couple strings, it's a choosing between two things. It's a two-piece suit or all the frills."
You giggled a bit when your finger strummed the wrong string. You then paused and eyed the moon above, continuing on with your contemplation all the while waiting for the other person form the other side of the line to come back.
"Why'd you stop?" Hiro suddenly spoke.
His question made you blink. Needing a moment to process his question, you stayed silent, slightly confused. When you finally caught up, you could feel your eyes widening in shock and your heart stopping for a moment.
"O-oh? You heard that?" You asked, flustered. You could feel your cheeks heating up in embarrassment. No one ever heard you sing, you didn't let anyone listen or at least hear you open your lips to hum a certain tune or even a melody.
His sweet chuckle from the other line made your cheeks grow redder. As if that wasn't already embarrassing enough. "Yeah I did. You have a beautiful voice. C'mon, you need to sing more often."
You nervously laughed and bit your lip. "Uhm..."
"It's the first time I heard you sing actually. C'mon, sing a tune."
You stopped yourself from smiling at his compliment. You weren't going to lie, that felt great. It felt good to somehow be appreciated for the small things that you felt quite shy about. However, you were still embarrassed from earlier so you said; "No. I don't..." you cleared your throat and eyed the horizon above, "I don't sing anymore so I'm quite, y'know, rusty... and bad. Really bad." You said the last sentence in a whisper.
Unfortunately for you, Hiro heard that. "Why? I think you have a good voice. It'd be a waste if you're not singing anymore."
You let out a sad laugh, the stars twinkling in the horizon also gave you the impression that they were laughing at you too. "Well, it's just... people used to laugh at me and stuff when I do sing so like... yeah."
Utter silence from the other line.
You waited for a moment, playing with the scarf around the neck of your ukulele before you looked back at your phone to see if the line was cut off or not. Strangely, it was still connected. So he just wasn't talking...
You raised a brow, confused. "Hiro?"
"Yeah? Oh sorry. Hold on, I'm just thinking of ways to hunt that someone down," he said with a grunt from the other line.
You cracked a genuine smile, something that you really can't manage especially after recalling such a sad memory that you kept at the back of your mind, never to be remembered. You giggled a bit at his statement and sighed. "Well, what more is there to do now? I mean, I still suck at it. And like, it still is traumatizing me at this point so..."
"Look, whatever you're thinking right now— stop. You have a good voice and I would die just to listen to that again."
You couldn't help the smile breaking onto your face, the heat climbing up your cheeks, and the tears that somehow found itself up to your eyes.
"Oh you," you said with a laugh, in an attempt to push down the tears from pouring out of your eyes.
"What? It's true. Now, who ever laughed at you for singing, well, I would like to have a little chat with them. Just... just a chat," you can hear the humor in his voice and you couldn't help but keep laughing at his silly remarks.
"Is this a tactic to get me to sing to you?" You asked him, tone playfully taunting.
He hummed from the other line, "No...? Well, I'm just trying to prove my point here. What do you have against that?" You could literally hear his smile from the way he said his statement.
You shook your head, although he couldn't see you. "Nothing. Just... trying to find out the intent behind these flattering words."
"Not a single ill intention," you could hear his chuckle, "I just wanted to give you the words that you needed to hear."
"Well, how kind of you," you said with a giggle, feigning formality like that of a princess. Hiro laughed from the other line. You then let silence fall between the both of you.
You eyed the moon above — still on her full glory. You never know what is it with the moon and the way it does always give you the feeling of safety, but here you are — basking in the comfort of her dim light, listening to the insects in the distance, and laughing without a care in the world with your friend over the phone. You also have a feeling that Hiro was also peering out of his window, eyeing the moon. You wondered for a moment if he was feeling the same as you were at that very moment — at peace.
You can picture him perched on his window sill, phone in hand and probably doing something else whilst listening to you, like what he always does.
In the midst of the silence, he called out your name. You hummed in return, telling him that you were still there, listening.
"I'm sorry."
You blinked, confused. "For what?"
"For... for everything." You could hear the defeat in his voice from the other line.
You couldn't help the sad smile. Biting your lip, you ran through the things that you wanted to say to him. But since things already happened, and there was no turning back now, you only settled on; "There's nothing to be sorry about, Hiro—"
"Look, I know I messed up big time but I..." he took a pause, as if trying to regain his composure, "I just don't want to lose you." You sighed at his statement, but nonetheless, continued to wear that same smile that you would always give him as something to assure him. But at that moment, it seemed that the emotion was directed to you — you were assuring yourself.
"Well, it's okay." It's fine. You're okay. "And I'm still here Hiro," you assured him. But as you did so, your smile slowly began to lose its emotion. There were moments that you had to put yourself aside just so you wouldn't ruin things for the both of you. It was hard, yes. But... somehow, you were fine. You just had to gather whatever courage you had for yourself and silently fight the battles that you were left alone with.
"Yeah but I... I'm still sorry."
"It's okay. I don't blame you, okay? There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Your feelings are valid. Always. Remember that, okay?"
"I..." somehow, you could hear him battle out his own demons just judging by the tone of his voice. And there it is again, you thought to yourself. At this point, you knew how to read him as if he was an open book. He was guilty. You took a deep breath and thought of whatever you can say to him that'll somehow put him at ease.
Somehow, despite the hurt that he gave you, you still found compassion for him. You wanted to hate him for what he did, but oddly, you can never find it in yourself to loathe him. You can never find it in yourself to be angry at him entirely. You care too much. You have no idea if that is a blessing or a curse. Nonetheless, you still found words to somehow put him at ease, and you're hoping it will give him peace.
"Hey, don't be too harsh on yourself. Things happen and you shouldn't beat yourself up for it. Don't worry about me, just focus on Megan, 'kay? I'm fine. Trust me. I'll be here when you need me."
"...okay." He sighed, defeated. You smiled at that. Then silence engulfed the both of you once again. Your fingers began to feel for the strings of your ukulele, then soon, the silence was then filled by the rich melody that your hands created, soothing the heavy ambiance that somehow wiggled its way between the both of you. Little by little, there was consistency in the chords that you played, and you found yourself being pulled into that little daze that carries you anywhere but the ground, only brought forth by music. But the melody was broken when he spoke once more from the other line, causing you to stop playing.
"Sing it."
You paused. "Hmm? Sing what?"
"That. That song. You should sing it."
You paused and bit your lip. But you nonetheless followed his request. Taking a deep breath, you opened your lips to start the first few lines of the song.
"And I don't smell you in my sheets. And I don't hear you in the hall. Without your cologne, your calls on the phone, I don't know you at all..." to begin with, you had no idea why you chose this song, but it just somehow explained your side...
When you were finally told that he was dating Megan... It felt so much like a slap in the face. Somehow, at the back of your mind you were expecting that. But you never really thought of how hard that might hit you when you were finally coming face-to-face with that fact.
"And I'm growing older, I know that we're over, the way we'd always have been. And then I see you... And I know you all over again." There was never a 'thing' between the both of you, but maybe... it was just because you were secretly hoping for more. But when the chapter has to finish, and the book is coming to a close, you have no choice but to stop writing the pages and bring it all to an end.
For you.
And for him.
For your peace, and for your happiness.
Because you deserve better. You deserve so much more.
This song... somehow became your closure. With each word that you sang, you could feel everything being left behind. As if all the events that unfolded became nothing but distant dreams of yesterday's escapades. Just remnants of silly conversations, and little decisions that led to actions that felt so much like a strange fever dream. And just as it always will be — nothing more than just... that.
You know to yourself that if you wanted more, you could always gain more. But it felt like this is all where it's headed. And thus, you'll let it go.
What a waste. But what is there to throw away wherein there was nothing to waste in the first place? Nothing fruitful grew out of it, and thus, nothing will be withered away. Not a single one.
And with the final chorus, you felt your heart ache from the bittersweet feeling that you got. "And then I see you... And I know you all over again." It felt bittersweet, because it was like saying goodbye to a million what-ifs and what-could've-beens. But what are those worth when the outcome of letting it all go is the never ending peace that you longed for in what felt like a while?
"And then I see you... And I love you all over again."
With the final strumming rhythm and with the final hums of the strings of your instrument dissipated the chaos that you have been fighting with for months on end. With the final vibrations of the melody came the silence that welcomed the peace that calmed the storm that kept raging inside your heart for months. So, this is what it felt like before.
For the first time in months, you felt as if you could finally breathe. You let yourself take a deep breath, and you could've swore that it never felt so easy. As if millions of worries were suddenly lifted from your chest and it just felt so... freeing.
You thanked the moon, the stars, the universe, and the heavens. Because finally, the chapter has ended.
And that night, you finally slept soundly on your bed.
Yet little did you know, the final words that you sang left a footprint on Hiro's heart. A tear rolled down his cheek and he couldn't help but eye the moon and question; "Why?"

Setting Assignment: Futuristic City (Totally Not a Tadashi Fanfic in Disguise)
After a long day in the student labs, I walk outside with my fiance and feel the thick city air hit my face. The sky is dim, but the lights still shine bright. We walked away from the college and into the main city street. People are chattering and foot stamps can be heard like a mini stampede. This city never sleeps, with the people always out and about, running errands, seeing friends, and coming up with the next big idea. I look around and see street vendors everywhere, with the aromas of their treats making my stomach growl. My fiance laughs at me and suggests we stop at our favorite ramen place before going to the bakery.
Walking into the ramen shop, I smell fresh vegetables, homemade broth, and cooked meats. This shop was a favorite of ours because it always had such a homey feeling. Walking up to the counter, the owner greets us and gives me a quick hug. We order our food and make our way to the seating area. We stop before the steps, take off our shoes, and make our way to the floor mats. While we wait for our food, we talk about our latest projects and the progress we’ve made. Soon our food arrives, making its entrance with the fresh scent of spices. I quickly dig into my ramen, tasting the sweet corn, vegetable broth, and homemade noodles. We eat our food in mostly silence, besides the occasional hum of delight.
While eating, I stare out the window and people watch. The city has always been alive and homey at the same time. I watch friends walk past the window, laughing as they finish their shopping trip. Businessmen stop at the nearby bar for a drink before heading home to their families. Children hop over the cracks of the street as their parents drag them down the street. Nearby, I see a few late-night tourists marveling over the tall red pillars and palace-like roofs of the buildings. One of the tourists takes a picture of the lanterns glowing across the city streets. I smile, happy that my home can provide happiness to others. I look over at my fiance and watch his quick slurping reward him with a slap in the face by his noodles. He looks at me, stunned, and I giggle while trying to keep my ramen from spilling. Despite all these factors and growing up here, I owe it to my fiance for making this city my home.

puppy princess | tadashi x reader fic
"... and in a while i came and got your plates and you guys went on the rest of your date i scrubbed cheese and wished i was somebody else..."
a story told in pieces: part 1 | hamada bros' interlude | part 2 | part 3 | your POV #: 2 idiots mutual pining, fluff, misunderstanding, tadashi is here and in full nerd geek dork goofiness (loser simp tadashi), genderneutral (i try) omni perspective, no beta we die like tadashi uhhh yeah we just die; all in some 2k words (TW/ high word count for people whose attention span is fried from tiktok)
(•---•) tadashi hamada wouldn't say he was a casanova or anything of that sort. of course, he was well-respected on campus and the object of many's affection-- and one might argue thus he has the right to assert himself as such, but such an argument would be incorrect. you see, he lacked an important part: the confidence to go after what he wants.
off campus, he takes on the responsibility of helping aunt cass run the lucky cat cafe along with hiro. in his almost-decade long tenure at the cafe he had come across and interacted with many an interesting and enigmatic figure, but none of them were as peculiar, curious, and eye-catching as you.
you became a regular of the cafe some years back, and naturally because of his feelings, he remembered your order around your first few revisits— a matcha latte with sweet foam, light sugar and extra matcha. he would never admit it— not to aunt cass and hiro, and certainly not to you (you cant ogle customers!)— that he was indeed staring at you every time you came in and that the register was, in his experience and opinion, the best angle to admire your beauty: the way the sun shed light on your face on sunny days, rose dusting your cheeks and your eyelashes charmingly framing your gleaming eyes, the way you looked out the window on cloudy and rainy days, as if longing for something and deep in thought— it was much too excessive and overstimulating, and thus words alone would simply do an injustice to you in describing the beauty of it all.
there were too many an instance where his eyes would linger on you for a moment too long while he was making drinks or drying dishes. many of these instances, either aunt cass had to gently wake tadashi up from his daydreaming, or he would be interrupted by hiro yelling at him for overspilling the milk into the drink shaker. he's contemplated approaching you for anything other than delivering your order to your table, but even the thought of just approaching you made his heart race and a knot form in his throat.
thus, he's never spoken much to you beyond basic formalities that a cafe employee is expected to show to their customers; but a part of him, poorly restrained and hidden, desperately yearned to approach you—say something, anything, to get to know you.
today, just like always, the jingle of the bells by the door announced your arrival. however, what was different was that you brought someone along with you. this instantly rubbed tadashi a certain way he didn't like— he felt a certain way that he couldn't identify nor label. he didn't mean it in the creepy way, but in the many days he's ogled and observed you he's very rarely seen you bring anyone with you to the cafe, if ever. the two of you took a seat at a table near the window of the cafe by the door.
today, just like always, he has to "woman up!" and muster up his courage to approach your table. "hello! will it be the usual for today?" he addresses you first, slightly stumbling in his words.
however, today, he also has to collect himself in front of you and stop his feelings for you from showing on his face. "that's okay tadashi. actually today we were thinking of getting the couple set!" you replied after flipping through the menu and landing on the item you mentioned. it's a set of heart-shaped souffle pancakes topped with cheese foam, powdered sugar and fruits that come with cups of latte, matcha or coffee.
his heart dropped at the order. honestly, he didn't even know that was an item on the menu until you guys flipped to the page. you sure said that with a gleeful inflection... he sure wishes he was the one sharing it with you right now. he was lucky enough to know your name— and only your name for sure, everything else was pure observation and speculation— only because without customers' names, the cafe would lose track of customers' orders otherwise. he mentally kicks himself for his romantic cowardice.
regardless, he swallows the small knot in his throat and forces a smile, scribbling down the order on his notepad. "so that's a couple set for the both of you... will that be matcha or coffee for the drinks?"
"one matcha, one coffee please."
"will that be all for today?"
"that will be all, thank you so much tadashi." you replied sweetly, smiling at him.
your small smile alone is too much for him. not to mention your delightful and sweet voice, your mannerisms, the way you—tadashi moves quickly towards the counter of the cafe, then disappearing behind cat-print curtains that secluded the kitchen from general view and the rest of the cafe.
(•---•)
as the cafe wasn't very busy at this time of the day, tadashi returned to your table with your orders faster than expected.
donning a beige and brown-accented apron with paw prints, a notepad and pen stuffed in one of the pockets of the apron, tadashi was...sightly, to say the least—he somehow made working at a cafe look endearing. his cheeks were slightly pink, his smooth and soft skin dusted with powdered sugar, his dark, straight brows slightly furrowed as he balances the plates carrying your orders in his hands before politely setting it down on the table. let's just say the souffle pancakes weren't the only snacks available this afternoon.
"...the matcha, and the coffee." he noted briefly before setting each iced latte down. "please let me know if you guys need anything. please enjoy." tadashi says shyly with a slight smile before quickly returning to the main counter of the cafe and disappearing. you smile, thanking him.
as tadashi stocked cutlery, containers and drinkware, he couldn't help but overhear the fun you were having with the person you brought today. after all, it was quite slow for the cafe right now, and the only few people here were you, your companion, him, and aunt cass who was in the back.
"and so then..." you trailed off with your companion, chatting, giggling and gossiping over various things. you two exchanged sips of each others' drinks. you even slapped them on their arm in a fit of laughter. you sure seemed to be having fun with them. tadashi made sure to turn his back towards the both of you as the two of you talked about, well, whatever the fuck you two were talking about, because that wasn't important to him. what was important was that you became someone else's before he ever got to court you—actually no, he had all this time up until now to court you, but he never because of his cowardice and lack of experience.
and so he beats himself up again. he couldn't afford to show you...whatever it was that he was feeling, and he reprimanded himself for it. how could he feel...whatever this was... over you? you were never his in the first place—he simply got too attached to one specific regular. and he scolded himself again. (maybe don't get attached and ogle customers. this is so bad. what was i thinking? why did i even do that in the first place? how did i even think it was okay? but they're just so pretty—oh jeez, it's actually over. i have to get over it. it's better to get over this than accidentally do something and make them hate me. or maybe i could just—)
"hey tadashi, could we get the check please?" you stood up from the table, your voice, music to his ears, breaking his train of thought. apparently he'd been lost in thought for longer than since the two of you had long finished your pancakes and drinks.
"o-oh yeah! sure! actually i'll help you over here." tadashi looks up, stumbling over his own words and slightly embarrassed that you had to catch him while he was thinking those things of you. he swears inside and hopes he didn't make any weird faces while he was thinking about you.
at the register, he taps on a screen a few times and helps you with the transaction, handing you your receipt. he shudders a bit as his hand slightly grazed yours as he handed the piece of paper to you.
but he couldn't keep it up any longer. he's held his composure for what felt like an eternity and more, and it was slowly slipping away and leaking. desperation, curiosity and need-to-know clawed at his throat and a question fell out of his previously tightly pursed lips. "a... friend..of yours?" he hesitated.
"yeah. they mean a lot to me, so i thought i'd show them one of my favorite places in the city." you explained, slightly taken aback at tadashi taking an interest in you and your companion since the two of you never went further than the 'please's and the 'thank you's, the typical polite formalities between a cafe employee and a customer.
like one of those insane slice-of-life anime scenes, he has to maintain his composure while he screeched internally. (oh my god that person means a lot to them they said it themself just now it's actually over for me i have no chance i'm cooked—)
"huh," his brows slightly knit together, processing your words and struggling to form a response. "yeah i just noticed since you're usually here alone."
(oh shit. am i a creep?) things were clearly starting to get out of hand for tadashi now. the combination of his composure slipping and the two of you engaging in conversation longer than ever before is making him spill.
"you notice me?" you blink. your face warms, your eyes widen in surprise and your lips spread in happy surprise. as much as tadashi had kicked and beat himself internally today, seeing such a delightful and charming little expression on your face was, to the desperate him, a rare win in all the losses he took today. your eyes were so much more beautiful up close and your eyelashes were so much longer and prettier than he could ever make out.
(i'm losing it it's actually over i'm sooo cooookeddddd—)
"oh well it's just that you are a regular and stuff—" he stammered, flustered and mentally trying to reach for something, anything, to play it cool. even his stammering, flustered, uncomposed and off-guard reaction is cute.
"huh. everything was very delicious, as usual. i gotta get to showing them around the city. thank you for everything tadashi, i'll catch you some time later!" you thank tadashi with another one of your bright, warm smiles that catch tadashi off guard, warming him from the sea of his cold thoughts. you shove your receipt into your pockets and hurriedly turned your back towards him, rushing to leave the door and meet with your companion.
(oh my god they don't want to talk to me anymore they'd rather be with their very important person instead)
tadashi is left standing at the counter, alone and quite frankly, the most internally conflicted and overstimulated he has ever been in the entire history of interacting with you. in the span of only a few moments that covered seconds, if not a minute in real time, he's felt abject dejection, desperation, hopelessness, warmth, adrenaline and a racing heart, all at once. "oh...thank you for your patronage, as usual. see you around." he says to himself dejectedly.
he walks to the table you two were just seated at and collects the neatly stacked plates and glasses to process and clean at the sink. he rolls up the sleeves of his cardigan and gets to work. now his composure has fully slipped in a cafe filled with nobody, moping alone as he scrubbed at the dishes.
"i'm scrubbing cheese and wishing i were somebody else. how sad can this get?"
"
[A/N sorry i assumed what you, the reader, liked for the matcha latte regular order part etc. i had to do it for the immersion and how people remember all the little details that is what makes love so endearing. tadashi is here and i won't take anything else for an answer. i havent written a proper fic for like so long if this perspective is weird yeah idc i never learned how to write fic properly and its been so long anyway so please feel free to put in requests i can't just be writing about tadashi. or well no actually i can]

chapter [1]
Chapter 2: First Day
You laid there for a minute before rolling out of bed, the cool air of the room raised goose bumps along your skin as you left the warm confines of your comforter.
The gentle jingle of your phone's alarm jolted you awake. The soft music ever so slightly grating at the hour it went off in.
For a second you wondered why you had agreed to go out to a cafe at a relatively early time on the weekend, right after spending the day prior traveling and unpacking luggage, but you knew once your day started it wouldn't be so bad.
After finishing your morning preparations you met Lily in your shared living space. She adorned a pastel sweater over a white tank top and handmade beads draped between the two belt loops of her jeans. On her right hand was a small collection of silly bands and a variety of rings covered several of her fingers. The colors of her outfit shined brightly against her warm skin and mismatched clips in her hair held back heaps of dark curls.
"You ready?" She asks as she grabbed her hand painted tote bag and stood up from her seat on the couch, "I think if we go now we shouldn't have too much of a hard time with lines".
You nodded and collected your belongings as well, leaving the comforts of your dorm to join Lily in her ideas for the day.
Fortunately there were multiple bus stops in various places around campus, allowing you and other students to better navigate the city. Your student ID doubling as a bus pass also makes the journey just that much simpler.
The two of you made your way to the nearest bus stop, chatting lightly about your classes and plans for the semester. When the bus arrived, you both boarded, flashing your student IDs to the driver before finding seats near the back. The ride was smooth, and you took in the sights of the city as you traveled.
After a short ride, you arrived at the stop nearest to the Lucky Cat Cafe. Stepping off the bus, you were greeted by the lively atmosphere of the neighborhood, filled with various shops and restaurants. The cafe itself was charming, with a warm, inviting exterior and a sign that read "Lucky Cat Cafe" in bright, friendly letters.
As you walked in, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods welcomed you. The interior was cozy and inviting, with wooden chairs and tables, colorful artwork on the walls, and a counter filled with an array of tempting treats. You and Lily found a table by the window and sat down, eager to enjoy your morning together.
The menu was posted online so you were able to browse options without awkwardly standing in front of the counter, a true blessing as you didn't feel like standing in the way of people attempting to put in their orders.
"I think I know what I want, what about you, Lily?" She nodded and grinned, her eyes scanning the menu on her phone.
"Yep, I think I'll go for the matcha latte and a croissant. What about you?"
You glanced at your own phone one last time, making sure of your choice. "I'm thinking of getting (order)."
With your decisions made, you both approached the counter, confident and ready to place your orders. The barista turned around, and you recognized him instantly as the guy who helped you find your dorm. His warm smile made your heart skip a beat.
"Hey, welcome to the Lucky Cat Café! What can I get for you today?" Tadashi asked, his friendly demeanor putting you at ease.
You exchanged a quick, surprised glance with Lily before placing your order. "I'll have (order), please."
"And I'll get a matcha latte and a croissant," Lily added, her eyes briefly flicking between you and Tadashi.
As Tadashi started preparing your drinks, Lily leaned in and whispered, "He seems really nice."
You nodded, watching Tadashi skillfully handle the various machinery. "Yeah, he does, he actually helped me out the other day."
Once your drinks were ready, Tadashi handed them over with a smile. "Enjoy! Have a great day."
You and Lily found a cozy corner table, settling into the comfortable chairs. As you sipped your drinks, you couldn't help but steal glances at Tadashi, who was now attending to other customers with the same genuine warmth.
"I want to make video games, really, I know whatever about job security but...honestly, that's just what I want to do. Right now I'm in computer science but with a focus on game design." You folded in parts of the napkin as she continued. "After graduation I'd like to go to SFAI and learn more about the artistic side of games, y'know, so I'm more well rounded."
"So," Lily began, her eyes twinkling with curiosity, "What made you choose SFIT?"
"Well I chose SFIT because of how many different pathways and options there are, I want to learn a lot of things from a lot of places, and I felt like SFIT was the best for that. What about you?" You asked, and began fidgeting with the paper napkin on the table.
Her explanation was unique from what you've heard from other students at SFIT, and you wondered if that played into her acceptance. "SFAI? Our rival? That's actually a pretty cool take. What made you want to get into game development?" At this point you were almost done with your masterpiece as you folded even more of the napkin.
"I don't want my life to be boring, if I'm going to work a nine to five until I die I would at least like to be happy doing it and making video games just fits that for me. What about y- oh, you're actually pretty good at that." She referenced to your napkin turned airplane.
"Oh, yeah, I learned the best method I think from a high school physics class, now they're just a fun way to pass time." She grabbed the napkin and examined it, "It won't fly good because it isn't made of paper, but still looks kinda neat," you added but she threw it at you anyway, just for it to fall short on the table.
"Yeah, you're right, but it is still pretty cool." She giggled as you balled up the napkin in preparation to toss it.
As you and Lily finished your drinks and pastries, you noticed Tadashi approaching your table with a friendly smile.
"How was everything?" he asked, genuinely interested.
"It was great, thank you," you replied, returning his smile.
Lily nodded in agreement. "Yeah, the matcha latte was amazing. We'll definitely be coming back."
Tadashi chuckled. "Glad to hear it. If you ever need any recommendations or help around the city, feel free to ask."
"Actually," you said, seizing the opportunity, "do you have any suggestions for places to check out?"
Tadashi thought for a moment, then mentioned a nearby park, a popular bookstore, and a few other interesting spots. As he talked, you couldn't help but notice the genuine enthusiasm in his voice.
"Thanks, Tadashi," you said. "We'll definitely look into those."
"No problem," he replied. "Here, let me give you my number. If you ever want a local's tour or just need some help, don't hesitate to reach out."
He handed you a small piece of paper with his phone number scribbled on it. You felt a flutter of excitement as you took it, carefully tucking it into your pocket.
"Thank you," you said again. "We'll definitely keep that in mind."
With that, he gave a small wave and returned to the counter. You and Lily gathered your things and headed out of the café, feeling a little more at ease in the bustling city.
The bus ride back to campus was filled with light conversation and laughter as you and Lily shared your thoughts on the café and Tadashi’s recommendations. Once you reached your stop, the two of you walked back to your dorm, the campus now alive with students going about their day.
Back in your apartment, you both headed to your respective rooms to relax. After changing out of your street clothes you sank into your bed, enjoying the softness of your comforter after the busy morning. Taking out your phone, you decided to text Tadashi to make it easier for him to add you to his contacts.
"Hey Tadashi, it's (y/n) from the Lucky Cat Café. Thanks for the recommendations! :)"
You hit send and placed your phone on the bedside table, feeling a sense of anticipation for his response. As you settled into your room, you reflected on the quiet day, content with the promise of new connections and the anticipation of what was to come.
Y'all I'm so sorry for ANOTHER short chapter with low amounts of Tadashi, we will get there TRUST! Plus, I just moved, it's finals week, I'm changing my major, work week for cheer started, I have new projects at my job, and overall am absurdly busy lol so please be patient with the quality and quantity of my writing so far. I don't like setting up the beginning of a story so it might be slow until I get to the parts I'm excited about.
If you have any recommendations or ideas please lmk!! I would love to hear from everyone :) ♡
