i'm writing a solo that's making me realize a lot of why i like writing Aven. i do have a tendency to pick up the "against all odds" characters, this isn't my first dabble at revenants trying to survive in spite of it all and all the moral compromises and traumas they have to appease within themselves. with that said tho, all those characters have something that drives them, often very selfish simple reasons like a wish to prove themselves, a wish to never be caught, a wish to avenge. these all tend to fall into more angsty, moody, rage fueled type of personalities that are more reactively explosive than passively calculating.
Aven's the opposite on this, while he does have a selfish desire of "becoming a player at the table" it's more rooted in a selfless promise than on vengeance or on a desire to live. there is some obvious vengeful sentiment there, he is after Oswaldo and actively destroying the IPC, however, the real thing that is keeping him going (and was reminded to him in 2.1) was the promise he made to his sister to protect the blessing. this modifies his approach enough to make him seem passive in his reactions despite the constant edge of putting his life on the line for everything.
i've talked about this before with @paramythas, but there's no rage in Aventurine, or at least not in the classical sense. his rage is expressed entirely differently than most. he can't get angry for himself, and only really gets angry for others if they are what he deems as a good nature/innocent. his anger is shown through the way he plays his acts and it's results. what i mean with this is, if he's truly cross with someone, they feel it not through his temperament or words but through his gambles, for they'll inflict far worse damage than words or attacks could. the only instance we know so far that he actually acted upon his rage was with the slave master, which is why i'm writing up the solo as it's driven motive is born out of being denied a chance.
i believe Aven's anger is far more childish than anticipated. i've also talked about this with @zorkaya (again thank you ren for that ask), he doesn't seem to be easy to anger, despite the whole act he's putting, his anger only surged up a couple of times during 2.1. and it was, again, very subtle. he got angry with Sunday for sentencing him, not because of the sentence itself, he had planned to die there, but because he was denied of planning the death as he wished. Sunday messed with his plans by trapping him in the dream, preventing him from "dying" and waking up in the real world by forcing his conscious to merge with the Harmony. and honestly, it does feel logical with how i'm writing him that his anger comes from being denied.
he's someone who carefully crafts all his actions, words and attire, the persona is him as much as it's a mask. to have it fail or have someone shutting down his plans, is what would truly irk him. with this said tho, the mask i'm speaking here is not exactly different from his true self but more so a compliment. "Aventurine" is the persona he wears as Kakavasha is "dead". the Aventurine persona does do not deny his roots, nor the actions he did as Kakavasha to get to where he is (honestly it's not like he has a choice to those who know of his origins in the IPC), it simply presents him in such a way that he can manipulate the initial perception of people and in a way read their thoughts. the flamboyant daredevil type is perfect to get a good read on people and depending on their reactions to him, he works around it and gauges the type of personality and morality they have. which is why he emphasizes on the "use me" aspect of the initial relationship, for it's with how people use him as the chip that he can know the type of player they are.
