I've made this post 200 times but I'm reading yet another collection of essays about true detective and it is all about the philosophy of pessimism and nihilism of rust etc but can we please talk about how misogyny relates to all that!!!

like I think its not just 'society is misogynistic' and simple as that; as I've said before the universe is ambivalent to suffering and men are ambivalent to women and children suffering which allows the truly heinous men flourish. Like what does it mean when one kind of human (patriarch) makes those under him suffer with no escape (wife and children).... Marty in his own home to his own daughters and to his own wife who he purports to love is completely unable to consider them as real beings .... he is outside and above them hierarchically....like that is a foundational aspect of masculinity...

talk about time is a flat circle there is always gonna be evil men bc other men will always allow there to be evil men...like the cult of masculinity is reflective of the indifference of the universe... even marty says inattention was his greatest sin...
