why yes indeed i believe i have done absolutely everything i can think of to avoid grading including making over three rooms in my house. graduate student papers, that is. the undergrads will be okay eventually. the grad students, they're not alright. they're just not. fyi academia is not for the faint of heart. love it or leave it. i mean that sincerely. don't put yourself in peril. you gotta know what you're in for in terms of the job market and you gotta do the work academically because work is what needs to be done. if you're still in how do i get an "a" mode don't waste your time -- or mine! you can "get" an "a" just meeting the basic requirements. how do you impress your professors -- and yourself ? that's what you need to be asking. also, it's a j-o-b starting day one. don't get it twisted. also, if you need your head shrunk, go get it, meds, stay on them, imposter syndrome -- get out of here with that euphemistic vagueness! put a name to the real issue and deal with it. like sixto says to la maquina, "quien te jodio?!" cause nobody's waiting on your phd. literally nobody cares, you don't gotta prove it on anyone. if it's not working for you, you can leave. don't over think it, it's completely fine. but if you want it for some reason (or maybe you got a trust fund, dkdc), then roll up your sleeves, prepare to know nothing for a while, and do the work until you get a clue. and you gotta be in the zone, like an athlete. and you gotta make good friends, like kindergarten. and you need to respect your profs, they know things and they're only trying to help your deeply clueless ass. that's the only way. unless... you really are the imposter. these papers better not smell of the midnight oil, aka, chatgpt. thanks for listening.
