On this day, in 1985, we lost one of the biggest and most underrated talents in motorsport history. Stefan Bellof was not only talented and skilled, he was kind and charismatic, and everyone who met him can confirm it.
With a laugh that could be heard throughout the whole paddock, he managed to write his name in the history books of motorsport when he completed a lap time of 6.11.13 minutes in the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, a record that remained unbroken for 35 years.
Stefan was as fearless as they come, never scared of pushing beyond his limits, and he knew he could do it. He was a force to be reckoned with, and he would've given other talented drivers a run for their money with ease.
Even though he has been gone for 39 years, he will always be remembered, not only for his talent, his skill or the "what ifs", but for the kind heart and charming nature the boy from Germany had. Rest in Peace, Stibbich, you are loved and missed. <3
