I’m mostly just glad I didn’t try to make myself more feminine in preparation for the video call cause that’s one less thing i gotta get rid of from tonight.

#this is all just...#the follow up is that it took over 2 and a half hours for her to get back to me and let me know #that they'd changed their plans without saying anything so we couldn't #that they'd changed their plans without saying anything so we couldn't figure out an alternative or reschedule or even just #i didn't know what was going on #because they didn't remember to tell me #because they really didn't care that i wanted to try and make up for the fact that i couldn't drive down there tonight #as soon as i wasn't going to be there in person it didn't matter if i knew what they were doing #They went to a restaurant btw #because they're fucking idiots and don't believe that COVID is a big goddamn deal #and then they suggested that we go out to eat somewhere around here for my makeup-birthday-dinner #that i had to *remind* them about #like #the reason we didn't do dinner in person for my birthday is because of the same reason we shouldn't go out to restaurants right now #what the actual fuck #so then i have to tentatively suggest that we *don't do that* and maybe it'd be better if we did something small #and at their house with just us and safe and shit #and maybe it could be a weekend I'm already down there for laundry so we don't have to plan too many weekends in a row together #and mom has the AUDACITY to pretend like that's something they prefer anyway #like if that's what you'd rather do then why were you 'thinking' about coming up my way???#not to mention i've expressed numerous times over the past *many* years that i prefer to just...have dinner at their house for my birthdays #going out to eat - especially if we're up this way - is the way to spend the shortest amount of time possible with me #not a great birthday celebration if you know they've chosen the option where they interact with you as little as possible #and put you in danger #because COVID is still a goddamn thing #it's like...they could try to make it less obvious that they don't care about me unless it benefits them or their image #but that would require them caring about me more than they do #so i guess that answers that...#i'm going to go take a shower and pretend this isn't the way my family is
