hey idk if you've explained it but what was your thesis about? (if you're willing to say.... and... link...)

tldr ; it's about how the menelaus that is usually presented in reception media is more akin to the athenian menelaus. who is vastly different from the homeric menelaus because of athens' dislike of sparta and other things. not only is this the menelaus that bleeds into reception, but some academics also see this as menelaus when the 'original' (a loose word is this context to be sure) menelaus is .... nothing like that at all. i basically present the moden and athenian menelaus and show how much that contrasts to homeric menelaus and the potential reasons for this (dislike of sparta, strong women, men who cry etc.)
