Thinking about how Harumi tried to tell Lloyd he was too trusting and too gulable. While she activily lied and maniplulated him every single time she was in the same room as him. And how that there were only two times (that I can remember) where he didn’t trust someone immediatly and that was only after Harumi betrayed him. He didn’t trust Princess Vania at first, because he saw the similarities between her and Harumi. And he apologized afterwards for not trusting her because he realized that he was being bitter just like Harumi. The second person was his resurected father. And I mean, can you blame him? He tried to see the good in his father, just like before. He tried to reason with him but Garmadon nearly killed him anyway. Even when Garmadon helps out against the Omega, Lloyd still can’t trust him because he leaves again right after. And so in Crystalized, when he discovers his fathers apparent turn to good, that’s why Lloyd’s so disbelieving. Because every single time he places trust in his father again, his hopes and heart are shattered.
That’s also why I think he’s so slow to trust Harumi again. I’ve seen people talking about how he just immediatly hates Harumi while allowing himself to get close to his father again at the end of Crystalized. But that’s exactly why. Because while it’s true that Garmadon should have more work being put in to earning Lloyd’s trust again than we see in the show, he also hand a relationship with him before all of this. The times when they’re together it’s easy to tell how close they are and how much he loves his son. There’s a basis there. And while, personally, I love Harumi, she’s also not a great person up until the very end of Crystalized and even then it’s up for debate. Shes’ definatly a sympathetic villan because we understand why she thinks the way she does. And tha’ts also why Lloyd feels for her at first. He understands losing everyting, jsut not in the exact way that she did. But it’s also why he stops trusting her for so long. They never had a good relationship to start because every word out of her mouth from the time they met was a lie or being used to manipiulate him.
