"Amy King writes that 'we might today assume that bloom is simply a reference to complexion, health, or physical beauty,' but in fact in Austen's day it also carried connotations of courtship and sexual attractiveness, so that Anne's 'lack of bloom' means, in effect, the 'lack of a marriage plot.'"

The Escort
Walter Marshall x Reader
Tumblr media
Words: 2,064
Warnings: none
Happy super late Valentine’s, Cavillry! As usual, this is a very very late upload but in my defense, it does say in my bio that I am a procrastinator soooo... Anyway, I’m really excited about this miniseries because I love the movie (The Wedding Date, 2005) and I really wanted to write Walter, I hope I do him justice!
Feedback (good and bad!) means the world to me as rookie writer, so I hope you’ll like, reblog and leave me some replies!
---------------------------------------
You could not believe you were doing this. You just couldn't. But there you were doing it, even though your mind screeched at you to stop and save a little dignity for yourself.
The fact that you even considered doing this was already a serious loss of dignity points, so what the hell. People did this all the time, didn’t they? There wouldn’t be a whole network of people clumped into this app if it wasn’t a normal occurrence.
It just wasn’t a normal occurrence for you.
Once you filled your head with rationalisations to make yourself feel better, you took a deep breath and began browsing through what the great city of New York had to offer.
Z, 6’, loving hands, fit, athletic, good manners, for water sports, caramel complexion.
For water sports? What in the hell did that mean? And that single initial in place of an actual name? Serial killer vibes. No, thank you.
Lenny, 6’2”, pretty fit Italian, excellent dinner companion, all occasions catered.
Alright. Okay. Now we’re talking. Tall, European, excellent dinner companion equals to good conversationalist, accommodating. Lenny goes on the list of possibilities.
Terry, 6’, my soft voice will arouse you, my strong hands will pleasure you,  let me show you how a woman should be treated, hourly/overnight rates.
Oh no no no. Major creep vibes from Terry. That ad alone had you reaching for another long swig of wine.
Joey, 5’8”, are you into champagne?, bodybuilder, will treat you like a queen.
“If you like piña coladas…” you sang in not even remotely the right key, topping off your drink
Josh, 5’9”, I can make you feel sexy and wanted. Fit, sensual, strong.
“Well!” you exclaimed drunkenly, almost spilling wine on your couch, “Tough beans, Josh! I don’t need a man to make me feel sexy and wanted!” you faltered a bit, your drunk mind still seeing the holes in your logic
“I just… Need a man to help me not look like a tragic spinster in front of my family and my ex...”
With that thought fresh in your mind, you reached for some more wine.
The ads went on and on as you scrolled through your phone, it was all a little overwhelming, how were you going to make sure you weren't hiring some psychopathic serial killing pervert to pose as your date to your sister's wedding?
The groan you let out bounced off the walls of your apartment. The reality of your situation was sinking in little by little.
Yes. You were hiring a male escort for your sister's wedding. It was your baby sister's wedding, by the way. You were a hundred percent aware that what you were doing was completely and utterly pathetic but you’ve already weighed the pros and cons in your head countless times.
Showing up alone: pitying looks, whispering behind your back, having to face ex by yourself, staggering levels of embarrassment.
Showing up with handsome -hired- date: mother can finally get off your back, date is more handsome than ex, ex will want to shrivel up and die, no one will know date is male escort except you and him.
Now, let’s break down some of the guests just for the sake of being thorough.
There’s your slightly overbearing mother (slightly meaning every call you have with her opens with the question: “how's your love life, dear?” or “I have the most amazing man to set you up with!”), all of her judgy eagle-eyed friends (mostly rich widows whose sons your mom shamelessly shoves your way), your extended family (some terrifyingly old school great aunts and uncles who will definitely ask if you’re married and smile sympathetically when you say you’re not), and last but certainly not the least, Jeffrey, your ex-fiancé (best man, but apparently not the best man for you, his words not yours).
"Lordy fuck." you exhaled hard, chugging your wine straight from the bottle
How on earth did you get here? Sitting alone in your apartment, working your way through your second bottle of wine (or third? Who was keeping count?), clicking on ads that spoke of "hot single males in your area" waiting to meet you.
Would it be fair to pin it all on the end of your engagement?
Picturing that moment, you decided that it was only fair. Those were five years of your life you would never get back, you were prepared to sign on for more but, yeah.
You were blindsided, that's the only way to describe it. All the while, you thought that you and Jeffrey were on the same page, at the same place in life. You were the golden couple, the couple that all the other couples wished they could be, when you two walked past, girlfriends would give their boyfriends a slap on the shoulder that meant, "Why can't we be more like them?"
It was so out of nowhere, one minute you were discussing wedding cake options over dinner, then suddenly you're putting the ring in his palm, completely in shock.
After that, you threw yourself into your work despite the fact that you were already a budding workaholic to begin with. That's how you ended up earning six figures a year.
Six figure salary, check. Doing pretty well in life all things considered, check.
But even with all that, there weren't any conversations over casseroles and cobblers about your many achievements. Nope, your mother and her friends would much rather discuss their worries that you would essentially, die alone.
Your little sister, Amy, getting married before you didn't exactly help to put a lid on all the chatter. And with Jeffrey being the best man? And you being maid of honour?
It was a disaster waiting to happen.
Maybe you could make up an excuse believable enough to get you off the hook so you wouldn’t have to go?
Were you really thinking about bailing on your little sister’s wedding? If she wasn’t taking cues from your mother, it would be the only one she ever had.
Not one of your finest moments as a sibling.
With the complications of your situation fully realised, you took to reading the ads with a little more effort. Luckily, you didn’t have to look for long.
Nick, 6’, male, tall, good looking, strong build. You will not be disappointed.
The ad was considerably less flashy than the others but you supposed that’s what drew you to it in the first place. It was understated, simple, and his ad wasn’t entirely made up of overcompensating flexing pics.
Mostly because he didn’t need them.
Call off the search, send the boys home. You had a winner here!
Staring up at you from your phone screen was the most handsome man you have ever seen in your life. Literally.
A mane of thick, artfully disheveled curly hair, eyes that were a light shade of blue that had a sort of dark intensity and intelligence that you could spend days trying to understand, and a smile. Oh, that smile was absolutely suckerpunching. It was odd though, something in your head was telling you that this man did not smile often.
You couldn’t tell if the warmth blooming in your chest and creeping towards your cheeks was from all the wine or from examining this prime specimen. Jeez Louise!
“Phew!” you fanned yourself upon stumbling on a photo of him crossing his arms in a tank top. Good God, you hoped he had a license for those guns!
You had to set your phone down for a minute to think things through although it seemed absolutely nuts that you had to think twice at all. It’s just that after the initial excitement and hormones wore off, it was becoming more and more evident that this man was too good to be true.
Just look at him! Were there actually men that looked like that? And why didn’t they live closer to you? A quick sweep of his profile placed him in Minneapolis.
What were the crime rates like there? And did they have a high rate of murders relating to escort services?
Before you could even google anything related to that, you stopped yourself. If you kept at this rate, you would never get anything done! Finally, after a methodical deliberation (aka ogling the pictures on his ad), you saved Nick’s contact number to your phone.
Aaand that’s as far as you’d go for the night. You could call him tomorrow when you weren’t a floundering drunk. It was like your mother always said, “Always be sober for a business transaction, but anything else calls for a cocktail.”
-------------------------
The following morning, you sat at your little breakfast nook, eggs still piping hot and untouched, and a hangover in full effect. You’ve been staring at the phone number for so long, you could say it in your sleep.
Come on, Y/N, the wedding is five freaking days away.
What if this guy was fully booked? You didn’t want to spend five days surrounded by family with Mr. my-soft-voice-will-arouse-you, did you?
You slammed your finger down on the call icon and stuck the phone to your ear. Your heart beat faster and faster with every ring and your palms became so slick with sweat that you almost dropped your phone a couple of times.
Maybe you should have taken your mother up on the multiple occasions that she wanted to set you up with someone. Alright, on second thought, you didn’t really want to be with someone who only looked good on paper but was actually an insufferable mama’s boy.
“Hello?” a male voice answered, catching you off-guard
Oh, God. Okay, you’re really doing this.
“Yes, hi! Hi. Uh, I’m looking for Nick!” you chirped, in a startled high pitched squeak you didn’t dare recognise as your own
The silence on the other end was starting to make you sweat behind the knees. It suddenly dawned on you that you didn’t mention any specifics.
“Uh, sorry! I got this number from the, uh, the ad. I’m looking for Nick?”
“Yes! Yes, that’s right, but Nick isn’t in right now. This is his manager.”
Was that a good sign? That a male escort had a manager? Did all male escorts have managers? You clearly didn’t know enough about this stuff.
“It’s a pleasure, Mister..?”
There was another beat of silence before the person on the other line answered, you tried your hardest not to overthink about what that could have meant.
“Foley! I’m Foley, Nick’s manager.” Mr. Foley’s voice returned to your ear, sounding much too bright for your liking.
Christ, what were you, a cop? To be honest, you were exhausted. Despite all the alcohol in your system last night, you barely got any sleep. You spent the rest of the night reading through some reviews of Nick’s service as an escort.
He had a glittering five star rating.
One woman hired him to pose as her husband at a high school reunion and by the end of the night, she ended up proposing to him. He respectfully declined and even bought her dinner afterwards.
That review alone was enough to convince you that you would be in good hands. So, it was time to buckle down, swallow the nerves, and handle your business like the adult you were.
“Mr. Foley,” you shook your hair out and put on your professional voice. “I’d like to book your client for five days, give or take. I need a plus one for a wedding. Is he available to leave on the-”
“Please hold. I’ll check his schedule.”
“Oh. But I didn’t mention when I-”
“He’s available. Would you prefer to pick him up at JFK or will he meet you at your place of residence?”
“Oh. Uh, I guess I could pick him up. Do I pay for his ticket or..?” you were feeling a teensy bit of whiplash at how fast this was all going
There was some rustling on the other line and the muffled sounds of bickering. You tried not to let that concern you.
“We’ll handle that, Ms. Y/L/N. We have your number, we’ll be in touch for further details. Good bye.”
The line went dead and you were left staring at your phone in confusion. Did you tell him your name?

Oh my heart
Summary: Lin never expected to have a soulmate, in a world where your mark appears whenever your soulmate is born she grew up completely blank. So when she’s thirty and it finally etches itself around her arm, she vows to never be with the one meant only for her.
A/N: there is an age gap so if that's not your thing, then please don’t read. This will be a two, maybe three parter and the reader is Korra’s older sister who is also a waterbender, besides that I’ve tried to keep any physical descriptions of her as vague as possible.
Word count: 4k
Tumblr media
Lin was terrified. Something she had longed for her entire life had finally appeared but at the worst possible time, those strange words etched onto her forearm stared back at her in a taunting manner, making fun of her new attempt at happiness. You wished for me all your life, aren’t you pleased? The voice in the back of her head taunted, but she wasn’t. A moment meant to be filled with joy was one drenched in dread. Lin had finally accepted her feelings for Tenzin, despite him having had his soulmate mark since he was sixteen. Her glances grew longer, her smile seemed reserved only for him, and she finally felt happy, until now of course. Thirty, that’s how old Lin was, which meant she was thirty years older than her soulmate which seemed wrong, disgusting even, so Lin did what she thought best, she burnt it off. She blamed it on a work-related incident when asked, a pesky firebending criminal got a little to close and she paid the price. No one knew she did it to herself in the darkness of her apartment with tears on her face, a hint of regret gnawing at her heart.
Two months later, Tenzin asked Lin out on a date and despite that nagging feeling that this was so wrong, she accepted. After a few months Tenzin made her forget about the burnt skin on her forearm, the shameful secret she’d take to the grave. She felt happy, so happy, she felt loved and accepted, like maybe she had a shot at a happily ever after despite his mark and her own. Lin knew he’d choose her, knew he loved her, and had nothing to worry about, so she laid her head on his chest as they basked in the sun on Air Temple Island.
                                                            -----
“You can’t force me into wanting kids!” Lin shouted, her hands waving around as she glared at Tenzin, his usual calm demeanor seemed to crack, his voice rising as he shouted back “I’m the last air bender there is! I have to keep the line going, I have to repopulate my kind!”
“I would be a terrible mother, I hate kids and I’d have to leave my job for at least nine months, I just made Chief!” Tenzin pinched the bridge of his nose, his pale complexion turning red with frustration, he loved how dedicated she was to her job, but it seemed to be all she cared about since getting promoted.
“I think we need a break from each other, maybe a week or t-”. Her eyes widened in horror at his words, her hand's grip at her hair in frustration as she cuts him off “fine, but I am coming back in a week and we are working this out for good, I’m tired of this argument.” Without letting him say another word, she stormed out and made her way back to republic city.
As the week dragged on, Lin put her colleagues through hell. Slamming doors so hard the glass on them shattered, an even shorter fuse than normal, she even fired two of her best detectives for trying to ask her what was wrong. Her apartment seemed cold, her nights seemed never-ending and an undeniable sense of dread clawed its way into her heart like she knew he was slipping away. Maybe she could have one kid, to make him happy and keep the air benders going. If it was an earth bender then fine, she’d have another, but she wouldn’t quit her job, wouldn’t loosen up on the hours and Tenzin would understand, right? He’d just be so happy to be a father that he wouldn’t care, he’d always respected her work before, what was to stop him after a kid or two?
She caved, she decided to go back to air temple island on the fifth day, a sense of determination to fix their relationship fueled each step and she tried to dismiss any fear she had of becoming a mother as she made her way up the steps to where she’d known Tenzin would be. In her state, she didn’t notice the pitying looks the acolytes sent her way, all she cared about was finding him. When she found him in the courtyard, she thought nothing of the young woman speaking to Tenzin with a wide grin but when she put her hand on his shoulder mid-laugh, Lin paused. Tenzin noticed her then, a million emotions flashed through his eyes before his shoulders sagged and a sorrowful expression settled on his face, and somehow, she knew.
Who could blame her when she wreaked havoc on a place she once called her sanctuary, when she wished misery on him before leaving her destruction behind, her fists clenched tight as the best thing she ever had slipped through her fingers.
                                                           -----
“Korra!” a feminine voice shouted from behind Tenzin, you pushed past him and ran forward to hug the avatar in the interrogation room, murmuring something to her in a furious tone. Lin rolled her eyes as she looked over at Tenzin who said smoothly “Lin, you are looking radiant as usual.”
“Cut the garbage Tenzin” she replied in an annoyed tone “why is the avatar in republic city? I thought you were supposed to be moving down to the south pole to train her.” you, who came in with Tenzin let go of Korra and walked over to stand by him, your arms crossed over your chest.
“It was too cold for his bald head” you answered right as Tenzin opened his mouth to speak “now why is my sister in so much trou-”. Lin tuned the rest of her words out as shock slammed into her like a rock wall. No. This wasn’t meant to happen, she’d scorched off any chance with her soulmate twenty years ago, or so she thought. But this… this twenty? Yes, a twenty-year-old water tribe girl with brows furrowed, and an expectant look on her face was it. You were what sometimes kept her up at night when she was so lonely it felt like the feeling would surely eat her up as Lin imagined some faceless figure who loved Lin with all their heart, someone who would never leave her.
“Lin?” Tenzin asked, putting his hand on her shoulder which successfully pulled her out of the raging ocean that was her thoughts, no not ocean, definitely nothing water-related. Lin looked into Tenzin's eyes, completely ignoring her one chance at happiness.
“Just get her out of my sight and keep her out of trouble” she practically growled out before storming off. Her heart was racing so fast she’d thought it’d surely give up any second now, maybe she should have known that her hasty decisions from her past would one day come back to sucker punch her in the gut.
“Well that was weird” Lin heard you say behind her as she continued to rush away from you before she accidentally said something. Lin vowed then that she would never say a single word to you. It was better this way anyway, who would want her? Bitter, old, scarred Lin who was practically married to her job and hated all things romantic ever since Tenzin crushed her heart beneath his shoe.
                                                           -----
She learned that your name was y/n a few days later, she heard Korra call out to you at the gala and when Lin followed Korra’s excited figure and her eyes landed on her soulmate, the wind was successfully knocked out of her for the second time since meeting y/n. You were wearing a deep blue satin dress that went down to the floor with a blue sheer shoulder shawl that had silver snowflakes embroidered onto it. Your hair was down instead of up, and you had a small amount of makeup on, just a bit of rouge and red lipstick. Lin thought it was the perfect amount, any more and it might distract someone from your beautiful eyes, or your enchanting smile. Her heart began to pound despite her desperate attempt at keeping her emotions in check. A large part of her hated this, hated you, and what this feeling blooming in her chest meant.
When Bolin came up to you and threw an arm over your shoulder, which caused you to laugh, Lin remembered that it would never happen. She shoved her feelings down and turned away from you as her thoughts went from how beautiful you were to how you would never love her.
Later on in the evening, Tarlock calls Lin over and she sees you peek around Korra to eye her curiously, a look of intrigue settles on your features as Lin pushes down any feelings she has at the fact that you’re looking at her and it feels like her whole body is on fire under your stare. “I believe you and avatar Korra have already met” Tarlock looks over at her with that sly look of his that she’s already determined means he’s up to no good.
“Just because the city is throwing you this big to do, don’t think you’re something special. You’ve done absolutely nothing to deserve this” she says to Korra, leaning down a bit to glare at the young avatar. Your curious gaze turns to one of annoyance as you glare at Lin. “Hey! Who gave you the right to be mean to my little sister,” you step in front of Korra almost protectively, as you stare her down. Don’t speak to her, look away, don’t reply, she tells herself. Lin turns on her feet and walks off, trying to seem as if she doesn’t care about what you said. “Why does she always ignore me?” she hears you say in an exasperated tone before she loses your voice over the loud music playing nearby.
                                                           -----
When Tenzin stands next to Lin at the pro-bending arena with you by his side, she’s not surprised. It seems the universe has decided to continuously throw you in her face, dangling you teasingly despite knowing her decision regarding your bond. You're holding a bag of fire flakes as you eagerly watch your sisters match, but soon your once excited expression turns to annoyance once the game starts. The Wolf Bats tipped the referee off. Lin wants to go beat the referee up until he starts being fair, just to see you smile once more.
“C’mon! This is bullshit” you shout as the Wolf Bats gain another point. Lin can’t help but notice the way your nose scrunches up as you continue to shout at the referee or how your hair which originally was pushed behind your ears has come loose and is framing your face so beautifully. Her left hand unconsciously grazes over her armor where her burn mark is as she watches you, completely tuning the game out. As Tenzin goes to shout something alongside you, his eyes catch Lin staring at you with a look of longing, he takes a step closer to Lin causing her to tear her eyes away from you and back to the match.
“Lin....” Tenzin begins but she clears her throat and mutters out a sharp “drop it.” To which Tenzin does, for now. Later on, as the match intensifies, Lin says “I can’t believe your sweet-tempered father was reincarnated into that girl, she’s tough as nails.” Lin doesn’t see it, but you smile at her words before deciding to tune out the rest of the conversation between the two, too focused on your sister to care.
You're practically seething at the outcome of this botched game, fire flakes are flying out of the bag as you shout in anger, not noticing the figure approaching with sinister intentions. By the time you do, it's because you're in excruciating pain as something electrifies you, your vision blurs and you make out Lin dropping onto the floor. The figure who electrocuted you steps over your body, you reach out to the Airbender, trying to warn him but nothing comes out of your mouth as he falls to the floor beside you. Soon your eyes droop closed due to the pain despite trying your hardest to stay awake.
When Lin awakens her muscles feel like they're about to give out and she lets out a weak groan as she slowly goes to stand up. Her eyes land on you the second her vision is no longer a blur and her heart fills with panic as she sees an equalist take you into their arms. She stumbles forward, not fully awake, and catches the attention of your capture. You let out a pained groan, in your unconscious state, the sound tugs at her heart and she’s suddenly filled with boiling rage. The equalist is shaking as he continues to stumble backward, another appears to help him take you away and without a second thought Lin shoots out her wires and wraps them around both of their ankles, she gives them a harsh yank which causes them to fall to the ground with a loud thud, for good measure she cuffs them to the floor, warping the metal of the floor beneath them around their wrists and ankles. You land on top of your capture, your eyes begin to flutter behind your lids and you finally stir awake. Pain wraps around your muscles, in your head you think maybe it's best to just lay still, momentarily forgetting about your situation.
You let out a whimper, knocking Lin out of her frozen state as she had gazed at you. Lin rushes forward and wraps an arm around your waist as she pulls you up onto your feet, you open your eyes, blinking the blurriness out of your eyesight. Lin takes you over to the railing as Tenzin also begins to regain consciousness and she props you up against the metal railing. You stare up at her in confusion, your mind is buzzing a mile a minute, not only at the situation at hand but at how her arms felt wrapped around you. “Uhm… Thanks for that.”
“Amon probably ordered them to kidnap you to hurt Korra” she replies, not realizing what she’s just done. Your eyes widen in shock at her words but before she can even notice your shocked state an explosion sets off behind you, sheets of metal from the bending platform go flying and she wraps her arms around you, forcing you to duck down so she can shield you with her body. You pull up a wave of water to protect you from oncoming flames. The heat of the steam from the water causes you both to begin sweating before the flames from the explosion recede only seconds later. You let go of the water, suddenly the discovery of Lin’s secret doesn’t seem so important as you think of your sister. When you passed out she was in the water below, surely she’s somewhere safe, right?
As if to answer your question, Korra appears as she hurtles herself up into the air with a large twisting waterspout. As it begins to falter and then completely goes out you let out a shout filled with terror “Korra!” Lin quickly gets up and shoots her metal wire out towards the roof to send her flying across the arena towards the avatar, before Korra can hit the fiery platform below, she shoots out a second wire to her waist and with all her might yanks her up into the air.
You stand beside Tenzin with wide eyes and bated breath, suddenly the two most important women in your life, I mean Lin has been ignoring you and you’ll have to figure out why later but she is your soulmate which does make her incredibly important to you, are out of your sight and dangerously fighting above as you uselessly stand there with your water bending abilities that won’t get you up there to help fight off equalists. Not being able to just stand by you summon water from below and create an ice bridge to the platform, if you can’t fight, you can try to put out the raging fire caused by the explosion.
“Y/n, wait!” Tenzin calls after but you're long gone. If you just stand there you’ll go insane and you have powers that can help, even if you don't get to kick some equalist ass.  Up above Lin finally lands on the glass dome and immediately sets out to take down as many people as she can at once, Korra watches in amazement for a moment as she wraps her wire at some guys foot and slams him into the roof before she gets knocked off the rope and lands onto the dome with a loud thud and the crackling of the glass starting to break below her.
It’s a collision of fire and electricity with metal wires flying towards the men and from below where you are using all your strength to put out the fire, it looks almost beautiful with the sparks of blue and flashes of red if not for the current circumstances. Tenzin has taken to help you with the fire by trying to use air to snuff it out. Suddenly glass from above sprinkles around them and you look up to see your little sister free falling once more.
“Tenzin can you do something with your air?!” You shout and he goes to try and send a force of air to help slow her down but she's going too fast, she’s flailing and if she doesn’t do something soon she’ll most likely die from the impact. As you run to the edge of the platform to try and save her yourself, Lin appears from above Korra and shoots a small wire to her so she can hold onto it like a rope.
Your shoulders sag in relief as you stumble away from the edge and use everything you’ve got to summon a massive wave to once and for all put out the fire. It works and the force of the water has it crashing into the stands taking with it some of the seats and any trash left behind in the frenzy. When you see Lin and Korra land  you race off towards the now soaking wet stands, using the water below as a set of frozen stairs to reach them. When you do, Lin has her hand on Korra’s shoulder and is saying something but you don’t make it out before you crush them both in a hug. Some sort of strangled sound of relief bubbles up through your throat as your hold on them tightens.
Korra wraps her arms around you, softly saying “thank the spirits you're okay” as Lin stays perfectly still. As her adrenaline slowly leaves her body and she realizes you aren’t in danger, she suddenly can’t be touched by you. She remains frozen until you pull away, you know it's not the time to bombard her so instead you offer Lin a thankful smile, too worried about how she’d react if you did anything else.
                                                           -----
A few days later you finally let Korra out of your sight, letting her run off to deal with her boy problems as you head towards the main police station. You tried to casually ask Tenzin what kind of tea Lin liked best, to which he’d furrowed his brows and said “why?” You simply shrugged and repeated your question. Apparently, it was jasmine, which was a favorite of yours as well so you stopped by your favorite tea shop and grabbed two to-go cups. As you enter the station you square your shoulders and give yourself a little pep talk “You can do this, you just need to march in and figure out why, maybe butter her up with the tea first of course, and then ask why, that’s if she lets you into the office…” you trail off once your eyes land on the door of Lin’s office, the words “Chief Beifong” are written in gold on the glass door which has a blind pulled down so you can’t see inside, which your slightly grateful for.
“Chief Beifong doesn’t want anyone to disturb her” one of the cops called out, but you ignore him and open the door, who cares, you deserve answers.
“I said I wanted to be alone, how brain dead are yo-” her words cut off as you walk in, balancing two cups in one hand so you can shut the door. You swallow, suddenly being in front of her has made most of your bravado slip away, along with your original plan, leaving you speechless. She doesn’t say anything, seeming to forget that she already spoke to you in the arena. You set the cups down and lift your shirt, which causes Lin to blush but you don’t stop until she can see her own words.
“I used to hate them… y’know,” you say quietly before dropping your shirt back down, Lin glares at her desk. “I used to be jealous of Korra and all the attention she got, so imagine growing up with her name etched onto your skin.”
She goes to open her mouth to speak, most likely to spew out some lie so you beat her to it. “I don’t know why, exactly, you kept it to yourself, I asked Tenzin the other day and he said you didn’t have a mark which is odd seeing as you are my soulmate." You pause, your voice softening, "you could have just told me straight away that you didn’t want me, didn’t want this instead of ignoring my existence and leaving me to wonder what I'd done to offend you.” Finally, she looks up from the desk and you make eye contact with her. You're trying so hard not to cry as you try to figure out what's going through her head, will she kick you out? Is your soulmate going to reject you?
“I thought…” Lin begins, she looks away from you, not being able to look you in the eyes anymore. “I thought I was doing you a favor, I’m old, and I’m not the most personable or charismatic person, I thought maybe you’d want someone your own age, maybe someone like your sisters' teammates.”
“So someone who is young and a guy? Did you think that maybe you should let me decide what I wanted instead of just assuming?”
“Look I gave up on the idea of having a soulmate years ago!” Lin shouts and you flinch away in surprise, “thirty years is a long time, do you know how I felt when those words suddenly appeared on me at thirty?”
“Oh, so you do have a mark!” You let out a disbelieving, angry laugh. “So you just went around telling everyone you didn’t have one, pretending the idea of me, of us, didn’t exist.” Tears cloud your vision and you let out a frustrated groan as you quickly gaze up at the ceiling in an attempt to keep them from falling. Lin’s gaze softens and she slowly stands from her desk.
“Y/n… I thought about it every day, but… We can’t be together, I’m far too old and I’ll just hold you back.” You scoff and aggressively wipe at the tears falling down your cheeks, your heart feels like it's beginning to crack.
“Your mark?” You croak out and cringe at how you sound. Lin hesitated before using her bending to take off the armor on her right arm. On her arm is a massive burn scar, you keep staring at it, not knowing what to say. Did someone else do that to her? As if she can read your thoughts, Lin says softly “I did it to myself a few days after it appeared.”
Oh. So this is what it's like to have your heart cleaved into two, what you felt just minutes before seems like nothing compared to the pain wrapping so tightly around you that it seems hard to breathe. She hated the idea of you so much she'd rather hurt herself and lie to everyone in her life. Without another word you turn your back on your soulmate, despite the sound of calling out to you, just like she did to you twenty years ago.

Note
could I request a Farah/Saul...with maybe Farah taking care of hurt Saul...I need more content
Okay so this took me so long to write, I am terribly sorry I am so slow at this!
This one got away from me a little and I am laying it on thick with the angst but oh well... I hope you enjoy regardless
Thank you so much for the wonderful promt!!!
Soothe my Heart
It wasn’t often that Saul went out on a mission without Farah by his side and there were several good reasons for that.
First off he had a tendency to get hurt whenever she wasn’t there to have his back. It happened a lot. And it was annoying and easily to be avoided.
Secondly, in all the years they had worked together, fought together as a unit, they had rarely if ever been separated on any of the many assignments they’d been on together. It was always better to have your partner with you so they could make sure the other was alright.
Third and the most important reason for Farah, she worried when he was gone. It didn’t matter if he went out with a whole platoon of royally trained soldiers or not. She worried regardless.
Their bond was too strong and whenever she could feel even the slightest bit of anxiety or stress the headmistress had to get up from whatever task she’d been performing to walk off all that muscle tightness that wasn’t her own.
It was distracting to say the least and had also disrupted her class on several occasions.
Which brought us to Farah’s current predicament.
The mind fairy could feel heat radiating off of her bond with Saul. And it wasn’t a good kind of heat. Not the kind she felt when they were stumbling to their rooms late at night after leaving Bens and having had one glass too many of his home made parsnip wine.
It was piercing hot pain like an iron pulled from the flames, still glowing red from the fire. It was torching her nerve endings where she could feel herself being attached to Sauls mind.
It was excruciating and painful. And she could only imagine the pain he must be in, if this was how she felt still being many kilometres away from him.
The white hot pokers continued to stab her in the side with each minute passing. And the pain was worsening steadily which could only mean one thing. He was on his way back.
It gave her solace to know he’d be by her side again soon.
Finishing up classes early for the day Farah dismissed her pupils and went to search for Ben. She found him in his usual place, the greenhouse, tending to his flowers.
The way she came strutting into the room had the earth fairy on high alert in an instant.
Turning towards her Ben started “What’s going on?” brows knit together in concern.
Coming to a stop before the man Farah said “Saul is on his way back and he will be in need of medical attention.”
Having known of their bond for many years now, it didn’t even surprise the botanist anymore that the mind fairy could predict or rather know this before anyone had even called ahead to inform them.
Nodding Ben walked over to his well stocked medical cabinet and started preparing the small infirmary for the arrival of their patient.
“Is it a stabbing pain or rather an infectious pain? Is he still lucid?” her friend inquired.
Concentrating on the ever growing pain Farah focused on her bond with Saul trying to determine just how severely he had been hurt.
Scrunching up her face in concentration the headmistress replied “It’s definitely a localised pain radiating up from his flank. I can’t feel the onset of an infection yet so I don’t think it was an attack from a Burned One. I would be able to feel the difference.” She paused for a moment. “It could be a stab wound?” she wondered out loud.
Nodding again without taking his eyes off his task. “How close is he?” Ben questioned over his shoulder.
The bond Farah and her specialist shared didn’t exactly come with a GPS, but it was as close as it could get in her opinion, enabling the woman to vaguely feel the distance their bond had to travel.
“They shouldn’t be long now. I will wait for them at the gate. Maybe get Sky to help me get him here.” The fairy mused. The greenhouse was located to the far left side of the old school building. There was a pathway leading up to the entrance of Bens workplace but it wasn’t wide enough to navigate a car through. She’d have to bring him here on foot. With the help of her magic if need be. Begging to all the gods that were listening it wouldn’t come to that.
Farah shook her head to clear her mind of that thought and started walking out of the building back towards the main hall in the hopes of finding Sky. The boy needed to know.
Making her way through the winding corridors she tried to press down on the distress she was still getting from Saul and tried to concentrate on Sky’s energy. He was surrounded by friends that much she knew.
Not being able to stench the feeling of her specialists pain though, she opted for asking other students if they had seen the blonde soldier.  She would not be able to find him with this much pressure pushing down on her feelings.
At last one of the first graders directed her to one of the reading nooks where she found Sky chatting and laughing with his friends Sam, Terra, Bloom and Musa.
Coming to a sharp halt in front of the group her face must’ve looked anxious in some way because the group stood up as soon as they saw her rounding the corner. All of them having apprehensive looks on their faces.
“Headmistress Dowling is everything okay?” Bloom asked immediately. Concern for the older woman clear in her voice.
Nodding Farah tried to smile reassuringly, “Yes Bloom, thank you. But I need to talk to Sky for a second. Alone.” she added.
Knowing it wasn’t a request the group dispersed quickly while still throwing worried glances at the headmistress and their friend as they went.
Sky’s face didn’t betray his emotions she could feel bubbling to the surface and she was very impressed by that.
Getting a little closer as to not alert any bypassing students Farah spoke lowly. “I need you to come with me. There has been an incident.”
Being the ever perceptive young man he was Sky picked up on her meaning almost immediately. “Is he alright?” he rushed out in a hushed tone.
Bowing her head Farah knew she couldn’t lie to him. Not about this. “He is severely injured. I don’t know more than that other than he’s in pain and on his way back.” Sky’s eyes widened a fraction his mouth falling open but unable to form the words she felt circling his mind.
“I will need your help to move him from the car to the infirmary.” The specialist in training nodded his head before she even had time to finish the sentence.
“We will meet the Queens cars by the gate but we will need to get him from there to the greenhouse and I don’t know if I can hold off on his pain and carry him all the way both at once.” she pressed on.
Sharing a nod with the boy they made to move towards the main hall again weaving their way through masses of students mingling on this early evening.
Reaching for the big door to the front of the school Farah let him pass through first before following him and closing the door quickly behind her.
She could already make out headlights coming up the path to the gate and they both began walking in the direction the cars where coming from.
On instinct the mind fairy braced herself for the onslaught of emotions that were coming their way.
The black jeep came to a halt in front of them and a Solarian guard opened the door to greet them.
“What happened?” the headmistress inquired without wasting a second on pleasantries.
The man didn’t waste any time either before opening the back door of the car.
With the last barrier between them gone the pain wafting off of the man lying in the back was like a punch to the stomach. She would’ve probably lost her footing if the need to get to him hadn’t propelled her forward in the first place.
She couldn’t even make out the words of the guard explaining the hows and the whys over the pounding in her ears anymore and in this moment she didn’t even care.
Taking the last steps she pushed past the guard and looked inside the cabin, bending over the crumpled form of her partner immediately.
“It’s not as bad as it looks Farah.” Saul tried to placate her while trying to slide out of the car.
Reaching out for him promptly the woman grasped him by the shoulders and pulled him towards her hauling him out of the enclosed space.
Stumbling as soon as his feet hit the gravel, Farah tried to steady him. Sky coming around from behind slipped underneath his other shoulder and took the brunt of his weight from her.
Looking him up and down while already steering them in the direction of the greenhouse she noted that he had already been patched up to a degree. There were bandages peaking out from his ripped shirt and he was limping quite severely too.
She could also feel his mind being a little foggy around the edges making her think he might’ve been drugged. Pain medication of some sort probably.
Struggling to keep the heavy man upright and moving, the two Alfeans staggered under his weight.
Covering the distance from the gate to the double doors of the greenhouse quickly while half dragging half carrying the injured man, Farah used her mind to give a powerful push to the door making it swing open for them.
Ben was already pacing up and down the space between the door and the infirmary when they stumbled into the room. He stepped up to them, taking Farah’s place at Saul’s side and helped them settle his injured friend onto the flat white surface of the stretcher in the corner of the room. She helped the men heave Silva’s legs onto the recliner as well before taking up her spot at the head of his prone form.
Just now noticing his pale complexion, the fairy sucked in a breath, before putting her hands on either side of his face tentatively.
Ben had already gotten to work cutting open his ruined shirt and peeling away the soiled bandages. It had indeed been a stab wound that she had felt.
Taking her eyes off of his wounded side again she looked into the face of the man before her with a solemn expression. He closed his own eyes for a second, leaning more fully into her touch, sweat glistening on his forehead.
Asking quietly what had happened, Farah waited with baited breath for him to open his eyes again and explain. After a while of just hearing him taking in shallow breaths and the soft sounds of Ben cleaning his wound he looked up at her again and swallowed thickly. “It was stupid really. It was standard procedure.” Ben snorted at this in disbelief. The absurdity of the situation making Saul grimace at how ridiculous it sounded to his own ears.
Farah nodded at him to continue. “It was basically just Luna trying to show off her power in the kingdom again. But it escalated into a small revolt in the blink of an eye. And I got stabbed by one of the insurgence party.” At this Farah’s eyes lit up with her powers and also barely contained anger.
Feeling this Saul grabbed one of the hands still holding his face and turned his head so he could place a soft kiss in the palm of her hand.
“He was barely Sky’s age. He was so afraid the guards were gonna kill him for just standing where he stood and he reacted on instinct taking me for one of Luna’s men.” he continued. Breathing deeply. “It was an accident.” he added. It was so like him to try to shield his own attacker from
Farah’s wrath. He had always had a heart too big for his own good.
“An accident that left you almost dying in an unmarked car on your way back here.” pitched in Ben while applying a local anaesthesia before getting ready to sow him back together.
Stepping up to Farah, Sky asked “Should I tell the guards to leave?” with a not small amount of distaste in his voice.
Having almost forgotten the boy was there the headmistress turned to her young pupil to address him directly. “They have already left Sky. But I would like for you to retire for the night now. Headmaster Silva is in the best of hands and we will inform you of any changes. I promise.” she vowed honestly.
Seeing as this was another situation where he needed to prove his level headedness Sky hesitated a moment before looking down at his father figure and getting a small reassuring smile in return from the man. “Okay.” he breathed out and looked up at his headmistress again. “Okay.” And with that he walked over to the double doors to the infirmary, looked back one last time and left.
Breathing out a sigh of relief, Saul sagged in on himself a little. The front he had tried to keep up for the sake of not worrying the boy having drained the last of his energy it seemed. “How bad is it really Ben?” He asked breathlessly wincing a little.
Not looking up from his work the earth fairy started to tie off the last of the stitches on the wound before saying “It is rather deep but it seems to have missed any of your organs. It is mostly just tissue damage. It will heal but it will keep you immobile for a little while. I’ll have to keep you on bed rest for a few days but you should be fine in the long run.”
Breathing out a sigh of relief of herself Farah closed her eyes and lowered her head to her partners forehead. She started to slowly caress his temples in a soothing motion making the man relax slightly.
Reaching deep inside his mind she started to look for his pain receptors. They were alight with stimuli at this point and she had a little trouble grasping at all of them all at once. But once she had gathered the strongest points of pain she started to pull them from him and into herself. Her own head began to hurt from the pressure she created.
Sighing Saul started to shake his head. “Stop it Farah. It’s too much.” But his almost begging went ignored by the fairy. She kept on soaking up his anxiety and hurt like a sponge.
Knowing what was coming Ben got up from putting the last of the bandages on the wound and brought over a nearby chair for Farah to sit down on. Not needing an invitation she let herself fall into the cushioned stool and kept on stroking Sauls face.
The sensation of taking on someone’s pain had always been a difficult one. But taking on your partners pain was a whole different world of anguish. Their bond was so powerful that it left her panting with the sensation of tiny needles prodding her brain and then experiencing the wound for herself in every way but the physical. The only thing lacking in this exchange though was the blood.
Panting out one final puff of air the mind fairy leaned back in her chair suddenly and tried to calm her breathing. Putting her head in her hands for a moment to collect herself she suddenly felt the specialists hand in her hair. Carding his fingers through her wavy locks still held up by a few pins he proceeded to caress the side of her face with his thumb.
“You didn’t have to do that Farah. Not all of it. Never all of it.” he breathed. But hearing the relief in his voice let her know she had made the right choice.
Looking up from her hands again she found his gaze  already resting on her. A relieved little smile playing around his lips. But she could also see pain there from causing her so much grief.
Tutting she got to her feet again already shaking her head. She took the half step separating them on unsteady feet until she was standing close to his side again.
Letting her fingers slowly move across his cheeks she bent down to lay a gentle kiss on his sweaty brow before putting her forehead to his again. Blowing out a shaky breath, letting it waft over his face she shook her head whilst never losing contact to his skin. “Of course I did. You know I always will.”
Nodding a small nod of his own the man admitted defeat albeit unhappily, fully knowing he’d do the same thing in a heartbeat had their roles been reversed.
Feeling a lot stronger now with the pain not lingering in every pore of his being Saul grasped Farah’s face in both his hands and nuzzled her forehead for a moment before trying to get up from his reclined position.
Feeling and seeing the movement both the headmistress and the earth fairy at his side went to help him sit up.
Letting out a small grunt as the motion pulled at his fresh stitches Silva let his feet fall to the ground and tested his bearings. Farah having moved to support his side inched closer to him to be able to assist if need be.
Standing up as straight as he could manage the specialist looked down at his side and put a hand to the bandage for a second before his eyes landed on Ben still standing close by in case he was needed.
Putting a reassuring hand on the other mans shoulder Saul said “Thank you old friend. I’m as good as new.” and gave him a small grin. Scoffing at that Ben responded quickly by saying “Hardly but I know you are in good hands.” Moving his eyes to his other friend standing to support Silva, Ben looked at Farah now. “You okay to get him to his quarters on your own?” he continued.
Nodding the mind fairy slipped beneath her injured specialists shoulder and started to move him in the direction of the door. Throwing a small goodnight over his shoulder Saul grasped at Farah’s arm to keep from staggering.
Opening the door for them with her powers she put her hand not lying on Sauls uninjured side on his stomach to keep him balanced. They hobbled slowly in the direction of his sleeping quarters. The quiet of night being their only companion. They didn’t feel the need to talk on their way up the long winding passageways and staircases of the old school. They were very content to just be in each other’s company without talking, seeing as they knew what the other must be thinking anyways.
Upon reaching the door to his quarters Saul put out a hand and pushed it open, letting them into the room. Farah let the door shut behind them with a small click as the lock latched into place.
She steered them in the direction of his bed and proceeded to set him down gently on the neatly folded sheets. Looking him up and down carefully the fairy wondered “Do you want to take a shower or just sleep for now?” she reached to help him get out of his ripped shirt before even having asked the question.
“I don’t think I could manage a shower if I tried to be honest.” he laughed softly. She knew he meant it as a joke but could also hear an underlying truth and honesty laced with his words which told her just how bone tired he must be.
Nodding once the headmistress got to work undressing him and decided it would suffice to leave him in just his boxers before pulling back his sheets and helping him get settled beneath the covers.
Sighing Saul stretched out his long limbs and looked up at the woman. Holding out his hand for her to take, she came closer to his side immediately. “Will you be staying?” he asked with more than a little pleading in his eyes.
The fairy conceded without hesitation. Nodding, she straightened up again before kicking off her heels and crawling onto the covers to sit next to him stretching out her legs in front of her fully.
Saul took this as permission to get closer. The headmaster rolled onto his stomach at an angle as to not put pressure on his sore side and laid his head in her lap.
Throwing his arm across her legs he grabbed on to her tightly before slumping down into her body in a boneless heap and let out a content sigh.
Still reeling in his pain through her mind the fairy also let out a small sigh in relief at being able to sit like this. Starting to relax herself she put her hands on his head and started to massage his scalp in a soothing motion. Moaning a little in bliss, Saul let out a big puff of air from his lungs. Grasping onto her legs tighter he caressed her thigh where his hand had found a spot to call home.
They continued to lie like this in companionable silence just feeling the other all around them.
It was Saul who broke the silence first. “I am sorry I caused you to worry.” he mumbled it into her thigh so softly she had to strain her head a little to hear his words.
Letting out a sad sigh she let her hand wipe across his brow to soothe his worry lines she could see forming there.
“I felt your pain since the moment it happened Saul.” she gave back quietly.
Letting out another groan but this time in discomfort the man turned his face further into her legs. The air coming out of his mouth warming her thigh letting a tingle of heat seep into her bones. „I’m sorry.“ he pressed the words into her skin more than actually saying them.
Humming softly Farah continued to card her hands through his hair more firmly now. She knew he would never cause her pain willingly if he could help it. It was hard for him to hold back his feelings sometimes causing their bond to simmer with activity. But she wouldn’t have it any other way if it meant she knew he was still alive.
Wiping a few wisps of hair that had fallen into his face away, Farah hummed again. “Don’t be.” Patting his cheek softly she went on “I like knowing you’re still alive out there.” Smiling at feeling his lips forming a smile of his own on her skin she thought of something else.
“We need to stop doing this.” she muttered sadly.
Not knowing what she meant by that he let her gather her thoughts quietly. He could feel she needed to say something and he would give her all the time in the world to find the right words for it.
After a short pause she continued on tangling her hands through his short hair.
“We can’t go out on assignments on our own anymore. I don’t care what Luna has to say about it and how much she despises seeing my face.” Letting a breath leave her lips in an exasperated manner she pushed on. “If she needs either one of us for something again we go together.” The finality in her statement made him giggle a little.
Tugging on his ear softly the headmistress scolded the man in her lap “Oh don’t you laugh at me now Saul. It’s not funny.” Belying her own words she puffed out a small laugh herself.
“Hey, injured man here. Stop tugging on my ear woman!” he feigned being hurt gaining him another soft tug shortly after.
After giggling softly to themselves for a minute the room grew quiet again.
“I can’t bear it Saul.” With this Farah grew solemn. But she pushed on to get her point across. “I can’t walk these halls and teach these young minds what it means to control their powers when I can feel a knife being pushed through your flesh as if it were my own.” It saddened her to know he felt bad about it even though he had no way of preventing it from happening. He couldn’t shield his feelings from her like she could from him. He wasn’t trained like she was.
Knowing she wouldn’t want to hear another apology he opted for rubbing circles into her thigh again. It seemed to have the desired effect as she sighed a little in response to his ministrations.
“You should get some sleep.” She mumbled softly.
Nodding he responded “So should you.” Before letting out a yawn, almost biting into her leg with the force of it.
Smiling she caressed his head a little more softly now. “I will. Now close your eyes.”
He did as he was told and it didn’t take him long to fall over the edge of unconsciousness. Snoring softly.
~~~
He woke up some time later to the feeling of slight shifting beneath him.
Farah had gotten up during the night to take off her dress as he could see it hanging from a chair in the corner of the room. She was now clad in an old black t-shirt and a pair of boxer briefs of his.
How she had managed to do that without waking him he didn’t know.
She was lying on her back, her arms wrapped around him. He had his head pillowed beneath her breasts resting on her stomach as it moved up and down with each breath she took. One of her knees slung over his ribs where he lay nestled between her legs, bracketed by her thighs. He didn’t know where he began and she ended anymore. But he didn’t care. It was the most comfortable and safe he had felt in years lying with her like this.
Snuggling down again he pressed his face to her belly softly. Her shirt had ridden up during the night granting him access to the soft skin of her stomach. He laid a kiss on the spot where his lips met her skin making her shiver subconsciously in her sleep.
Still asleep as if wanting to make sure he was still alright, Farah wound her arms around his head and let her hands sink into his hair at the base of his neck. Sighing softly she settled down, her breathing evening out again.
They were going to be alright.
They were home.
Together.
Secret Admirer
Tumblr media
For RiversDayOfLove, @loki-the-fox prompt: Person A is a secret admirer of Person B and reveals themselves on Valentine’s Day.
Warning: Just fluff.
Loki x reader.
A/n: Snoots are not mine they are from two famous poets.
~To my dearest Y/n~
*Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st;
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
~Truly yours your Secret of Amir.~
The note was attached to the most beautiful arrangement of lily and roses you ever seen. And it was addressed to you. Waiting for you on your desk, when you arrive at the Averages lab. You eyes had widened when you saw them. You could feel your face heat up. As you read the note over and over, before you started.
“All right who done and pissed you off, Y/n?” Tony asked as he walked into the lab noticing the vase of flowers. Which startled you in the process.
“For your info if it was anyone that pissed me off it would be you and I doubt this would be from you.” You held up the note. As Tony read it, haking his head.
“Yeah definitely not me. I don’t do poetry. But hey you have a stocker.” Tony teased.
“Wow, what did you do to piss of y/n this time Tony.” Bruce stated as he walked in noticing the arrangement as well.
“Hey now I have not pissed off y/n in a week.” Tony hissed.
“Well that’s a new Record for you.” Bruce’s chuckle.
“For your information our little y/n has a Secret admirer.” Tony purred. Patting you on the back. “Great job there kid. Now I have to figure out who I have to kill.” Tony walked over to his work table. Both you and Bruce rolled your eyes at the billionaire. As the three of you got to work.
Once your day was over you had planned on going out for drinks with the girls for a much needed girls night. Though you were just going to go right after you worked in the lab. But the unexpected arrangement had you taking them to your room. Not wanting them to get ruined in one day. You made your way through the compound carefully carrying the lager vase of flowers. Trying to make it to your bedroom.
“What in the nine realms are you doing with those.” You heard Loki’s voice somewhere in front of you, not being able to see the god as you view was blocked by flowers. Though you felt you heart sink a little. Deep down you had a small hope that they were from Loki. As he was a lover of book and poetry. You managed to move the flowers away from your face to look at the god.
“They’re um, were on my desk this morning.” You mumbled. “I guess I have an admirer.” You half smiled at the god.
“Well, I hope who ever it is could do better then this.” His voice sounded cold. Like he was annoyed to see you with anything from someone else. The god walked passed you, mumbled to himself.
“I thought they were pretty,” You whispered not think he could hear you. “Though, I thought they were from you.” As you watch him walk away. Finally you made it to your room a little disappointed. Deciding to change for girls night. With Nat, Wanda and Pepper. Taking a quick Once over. Before you left the room. You almost tripped over something. When you looked down you saw a box from Teuscher the up scaled chocolate place at the Rockefeller center. You always treated yourself on your birthday. But it wasn’t just a piece like you normally would, it was a whole box of all your favorite kinds when you opened it. Under the lid you found another poem.
~To my dearest Y/n~
I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
~Truly yours your Secret of Amir.~
It made you blush as you looked up to see who may have left it. You watched as the elevator door opened, as Loki emerged. He took note at what he saw. You pink cheeks a smile on your face holing a box he recognized. Then pushed the elevator closed with him still in it. With a sigh you set the chocolates in your room. As you left to meet the girls.
This went on for a few days, gifts randomly showing up. Little things that meant a lot. The gift ranged from, slippers so you would touch the cold floor, an at home spa basket you enjoyed taking baths it helped with stress, even earring from your favorite 5th Avenue store. That was probably the most lavish gift. And each one came with a sonnet. Tony tried to help you figure out who had been leaving these gifts. But F.R.I.D.A.Y. Systems always seem to be off line or failed when he looked at the video. That lead you to late nights with the billionaire. Trying to figure out what was going on with his security systems.
Tony had left to go get more coffee, which seemed to take him forever to come back. You figured maybe Pepper stopped him. You rest you head on the table. Thinking of just taking a little power nap. When you woke up, the sunshine in through the blinds. You slept there all night again. But unlike the other time, were you woke up freezing. You noticed a deep green blanket draped around you. You took a deep breath as you did you remember the sent coming from the blanket. Pulling the blanket towards you, you recognized it as Loki cape to his armor. You smiled to yourself as you pulled it closer to you. You were so wrapped up in the fact that loki had done this you never heard Bruce or Tony walk in.
“Y/n did you sleep here?” Bruce asked. Which startled you. Pulling yourself to your feet ball up loki cape. So they didn’t question it.
“I guess I did, I was waiting for Tony!” You hissed, glaring at the man. Who currently looked very sheepish as he walked in. “He was supposed to bring coffee.” Bruce looked over at Tony.
“In my defense Pepper grabbed a hold of me and throw me in bed. For someone who is tiny she is very spry.” Bruce pinched him nose with his fingers, shaking his head. You could only roll your eyes.
“I’m going to call it a day.” You stated as you walked out of the lab not looking back. You could hear Tony yelp, and asked what was that for. “You deserves that.” Knowing Bruce smacked him upside the head.
You were on a mission to find Loki. You had noticed that ever since you’ve been receiving gifts, that Loki would avid you or make some snarky comment. Also you noticed little things. Like this as you held tightly to his cape. Or he had coffee ready for you when you woke up, when went down to the kitchen. Saying that; I figured since I’m making my tea I might as well make yours as well. Only to find out each time it was just how you liked it. Even though you still thought loki had given you the other gifts. When you walked into the Library where Loki frequent you looked around. You were rather shocked not to find him. Maybe he was sparring with his brother. But as you got to the training room no sign of either Asgardains.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y, have you’ve seen with Thor or his moronic brother?” You called up to the A.I. She knew where everyone is.
“I am sorry y/n. I have not, not since morning. And my data shows no one has left the compound.” A.I. Spoke back through one of many speakers above you.
“Uhg,” You huffed in annoyance. “Alright thank you.” You walked off. Not really paying attention to the apology the A.I. Stated. You though maybe he was in his room. But no such luck. Giving up you walking over to your room. Before opening your door you heard muffled sounds like someone or somebody’s having a scuffle in your room. You opened it slowly. But what you saw was not what you expected. Thor had Loki chained to a chair and was fighting his raven hairs brother with what looked to be duct tape. You stood there watching. The brothers had yet noticed you.
“Why is this necessary.” Loki hissed dodging his head at his brother attempt to stick the tape over his mouth. “You know I’ll turn you into a toad again.”
“I told you that if your not going to, someone need to push you in to telling lady y/n.” Thor voice boomed with happiness with his cleaver plan.
“Tell lady y/n what?” You cooed behind the brothers. Both stoping to look over to you standing in the room.
“Ah lady y/n, happy day of love. I have brought you a gift.” Thor beamed with glee in his eyes.
“Surprise.” Loki stated annoyed, as this felt way to familiar to him. Thor patted his brother on his back. As he walked towards you.
“He is all yours lady y/n, do as you please.” Thor smiled proudly. As he left the room shutting the door. Leaving you and the God of mischief alone.
“You know I could explain this.” Loki chuckled nervously.
“Oh, I think I figured it out.” You bit your lip as you walked over the the god. “You’re brother sent the gifts to make you jealous, and when that didn’t work he did this.” You laughed as you stood in front of him.
“Yes. That sounds about right.” Loki smile his charming smile the one that could send your panties to space taking out a Klingon war ship. “Would you mind untying me love?”
“You know I think I like you like this.” You smirked as you sat down on Loki leg facing him. Making the god raise his eyebrow. “I’ll untie you if you can tell me what Thor wants you to tell me.” You whispered into his ear. You felt Loki tense up. Moving your head away from his ear. “I’m listening.” Your face looked unamused. Loki squirmed around in the chair.
“Fine.” He huffed giving in. “I have liked your for some time now darling, and would like to court you. And yes I was rather jealous that someone else may have had taken a like to you.” You smiled at him. “So may I have the honor to take you out tonight as is it your Midgard festival of love. Though I’m not sure why you celebrate love on a day that was a massacre.”
“Oh loki, shut up.” He was about to say something when your lips crashed onto his.
“I take that as a yes.” He mumbled against your lips.
“That’s a yes to massacre you later.” You smirked kissing him one last time before getting off his lap.
“Massacre me as in showing me your undying love right?” Loki asked as you started to walk away from him. “Y/n!” He yelled. Struggling against his binds. As you shut the door to the bedroom.
September & October 2018 Empties
* = disliked the product - would not repurchase ** = liked the product - would not repurchase *** = liked the product - might or might not repurchase **** = loved the product - would repurchase *HOLY GRAIL!*
1. dear, klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner (180ml / 6.08oz) source: Wishtrend thoughts: I’ve used a few of these already. I have definitely noticed that if I stop using this and start again later on, I would break out. I do like this toner as it’s quite moisturizing and can be used as a toner and essence. But like my last empty post I did mention that I don’t like how it interacts with products that are already on my face, and I find that it does take a while for it to absorb into the skin. rating: **
2. COSRX Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner (150ml / 5.07oz) Source: Wishtrend thoughts: This was my first time trying this toner out.I like how simple the ingredient list is, containing only 8 ingredients. It does say that it’s made up of 10% centella asiatica leaf water and 82% mineral water from Jeju, plus there is no alcohol. I love that this can also be used as a facial mist as well. This doesn’t have much of a scent to it. I would say it smells like aloe but a very very faint scent. This was one of the items I brought along with me on my travel and it worked great, it didn’t break me out or anything. Surprisingly, you can now find certain COSRX products in Walmart Canada and the prices are decent as well, between $11 - $25 CAD. rating: ****
3. A’PIEU Madecassoside Sun Cream SPF 39 PA++ (40g) source: YesStyle thoughts: I actually found that this cream was a little thick for my liking on my face, hence I decided to bring it with me on my trip to use as my body suncream. I absolutely love it as body sunscreen, as I found that it spread better and no white cast. This is a physical sunscreen, and I didn’t find that it was sticky even when I was sweating. The only downside is that SPF isn’t that high and it’s only double PA plus instead of triple. I would say it’s a good sunscreen for days you know you will be in and out of the sun. It does have a slight scent to it but It did not bother me. I really enjoyed using this and would consider repurchasing this as it’s a thin tube which means it will be great for short trips/ travel. This is also inexpensive around $10CAD. rating: ***
4.  Daiso Cotton Puff (90 pcs) source: Daiso thoughts: I feel like I have spoiled myself by using some more expensive better quality cotton pads, that I find these just don’t measure up anymore, even when they are the cheapest. I have found that I love cotton pads that don’t lose too much of it’s shape when being used. I probably won’t get these again unless I’m really tight on my budget or I’m in need of cotton pads, which I doubt would ever happen. rating: ***
5. Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence (150ml) source: YesStyle thoughts: I really like using this especially as a 7 skin method, where I pat the product into my skin multiple times. I have noticed a difference in my skin whenever I use this, as it does feel more moisturized. This was my second bottle and I have repurchased it again in the same exact kit which comes with the night repair ampoule. rating: ****
6. Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Borabit Ampoule (50ml) source: YesStyle thoughts: This is suppose to be a dupe for Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair but I have nothing to reference as I haven’t tried it. I found that this didn’t really do much for me if its suppose to help fight the signs of aging. Honestly, I didn’t see or feel like my skin had much of a difference when I used this product. But I got to say that the packaging is pretty. There is a slight scent to it which I can’t quite describe. In the end I actually used this to help moisturize my legs since I have a lot of scars, in the hopes that it’ll help “repair” them. rating: **
7. leegeehaam Grow Vita Propolis Ampoule (15ml / 0.51oz) source: YesStyle thoughts: I have read and heard good things about this, hence I decided to try it myself. I also bought this in hopes of comparing it to the Skinfood one I tried in the past. I also have another propolis item that I’m currently trying and that one is not that great/ worth the hype. Out of the 3 propolis items I have tried I still find that the Skinfood one is my favourite. They all do have different consistency, with this one being the most oily in a sense, but still my second choice. I did notice a difference when I used this, as it pretty much did everything it claims. “This supercharged, multi-tasking ampoule with 50% propolis extract smooths, boosts radiance, and revitalizes a dull complexion without feeling sticky or heavy. Used as a daily serum, it plumps skin with deep hydration while giving the surface a subtle sheen.” I actually saw all of this while I was using this on my trip and I did notice it when I got back as well, as I was finishing it off. However, it’s not like the same healthy glow/ radiance I had when I was using my Thank You Farmer Products. I don’t know if I’ll purchase this one as it’s around $20CAD whereas I can pay a bit more and get the Skinfood one which I like more and has more product. rating: ***
8. Skin & Lab Glacial Water Soothing Gel (100ml) source: YesStyle thoughts: This was actually pretty good. I mainly used it as a body moisturizer while I was on my trip. It was light and didn’t have much of a scent. But I do got to say that this was not as soothing or moisturizing as aloe vera gel. The product is good for face & body which makes it good for travel as it can be a 2-in-1 product. This was about $10CAD which isn’t that bad, but I mean I can get a tub of (korean) aloe vera gel for $5CAD more and 3 times the amount. Plus aloe vera gel can also be used as a 2-in-1 product. rating: **
9. The Face Shop Herb Day Cleansing Tissue (70 sheets + 20 sheets) source: The Face Shop thoughts: These are still my holy grail cleansing tissues. I just love the smell of these and how soft and well these cleanse. I also brought the smaller version on my travels which were amazing as always. rating:  *HOLY GRAIL!*
10. Farm Stay Aloe Vera Moisture Soothing Gel (300ml / 10.56oz) source: YesStyle thoughts: I have been purchasing my tubs of aloe vera off YesStyle so far. I tend to just buy whichever is cheap as they all seem roughly the same to me. However, I have found a site that tells you what ingredients are in the various aloe vera products out on the market. So now I’m a little more picky/ wary of it. The product itself was very soothing/ cooling and refreshing especially in the summer time when it’s so hot out. But in the winter I find this too cold to use. rating: ***
11. Briogeo Be Gentle Be Kind Conditioner (29ml / 1oz) source: Sephora  thoughts: I actually have the full size of the shampoo and conditioner which I have yet to use. The scent definitely was something I had to get use to, compared to the Blossom and Bloom version. The scent of the Blossom and Bloom is still my favourite and I think I would repurchase that one over this scent in the future. I’m kind of a sucker when it comes to things that smell nice. and the Blossom and Bloom ones definitely smell AMAZING! Hopefully I will get use to the scent of this when I use the full sizes. rating: **
12. Laneige White Plus Renew Eye Cream source: Yesstyle sample thoughts: I wasn’t a big fan of this because it had shimmers in it, but I do see why it will help brighten up the under eye area. The texture was nice plus it wasn’t hard to spread under the eyes. I know that people tend to tap their creams in cause of how delicate the skin is around the eye, however I like to spread it. Hence why I like eye creams that are light and will spread and absorb easily into the skin. rating: **
13. fresh Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream (2ml / 0.06oz) source: Sephora sample thoughts: I definitely like the texture of this one as it was light and spreads easily. The only thing I don’t like about this is that the fragrance of this is strong. I do feel like this cream gave a good amount of moisture and is not bad. But in my books it’s not something I would purchase cause of the fragrance, although it doesn’t smell bad. This sample lasted me 3 days but it was also because I just wanted to finish it; I feel like this sample can probably last a week.  rating” **
14. Pyunkang Yul A Therapy Hand Cream: Sure Herb (75ml / 2.5oz) source: StyleKorean thoughts: I have been really enjoying this brand, everything I have tried haven’t been bad so far, but also not significant to me. I also find that this brand is very gentle on the skin. So far I do really like their lotion for my body and I have purchased the ATO version to try as well. I definitely like this scent for the hand cream more than the other one. I also found that this one seemed more moisturizing compared to the other one. Their packaging does remind me of Aesop a lot but for a fraction of the price. The only thing I don’t like about it is the packaging as it gets harder to squeeze the product out as you get closer to the end. I try to avoid these kind of packaging. I mainly bought this to try because it looked like Aesop’s. rating: **
15. belif Moisturizing and Firming Eye Cream (25ml / 0.84oz) source: The Face Shop thoughts: This has been my go-to eye cream.I haven’t tried a lot of eye creams since I only started using them not too long ago. This jar pretty much lasts me the whole year which I think is worth it for the price and duration. But I do want to find alternatives that would work just as well at a lower price point. I have purchased a different eye cream to be used after this and I can’t wait to see how that will be. This one was good. It was moisturizing and so far I haven’t noticed any fine lines or anything. rating: ****
16. By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash (70g / 2.47oz) source: Wishtrend.com thoughts: I do like the scent of this as it smells like green tea, which I absolutely love. I wasn’t a big fan of this, as I found it a bit annoying cause I have to mix it. I’m kind of a lazy person and like things simple. Like already foamed cleanser, those make life so easy as I can skip the step of having to foam it up before putting it on my face. But of course that isn’t very wallet friendly. I have definitely discovered that I do not like powder stuff especially if I have to use it frequently. I did only use this at night and it hasn’t broken me out or anything. It is also suppose to help exfoliate since it also has baking soda, but I didn’t find that it did that well. I find using a toner with an acid was better or even just using a scrub 2-3 times a week. rating: *
17. L’Occitane Sublime with Peony Extract Perfecting Mist (100ml / 3.3oz) source: L’Occitane thoughts: I actually bought this for my trip to LA two years ago. I thought this would be useful considering LA might be dry and I have never been. This wasn’t bad but the nozzle isn’t the best, or I just got a bad one. It would work normally for a few spritz and then flop. This is delicately scented and sweet smelling, with peonies. And I do find that it really helps when my face is dry. It works well under or on top of makeup. I do see my face a little “beautified” when I use this. However, this product doesn’t stand out too much to me. It has literally taken me 2 years to finish this bottle. rating: **
18. Nature Republic Rose Petal Moisture Mask (100ml / 3.38oz) source: Nature Republic thoughts: I bought this last year in September and it has been sitting in my stash. Wash-off masks usually take me a while to finish as I don’t really reach for them, like I said I’m lazy and like things simple. But I was going through my stash after my Asia trip to see what I still had and when stuff were expiring etc. And lo and behold this was expiring in November so I wanted to quickly use this and try to finish it up. I did use it for most of October until I started noticing that every time I had used this, I would find a small pimple on my face. So I’m just going to get rid of the rest. I would say I probably finished two-thirds of it, which I’m satisfied before getting rid of it. I initially bought this to compare it to fresh’s rose mask. I found that this one just wasn’t as moisturizing as the fresh one, or my jar is just old. But both versions do have real rose petals and the scent. This one is about half the price of the fresh one if I remember correctly. I would say this is a good dupe, but not something I would get in the future, plus it broke me out a bit. rating: *
IOPE Brighten Skin Luminous Bioscience Formula Set source: Aritaum
19. Brighten Softener Skin Luminous (15ml / 0.5oz) thoughts: I found this softener to be cooling and moisturizing on the skin. I enjoyed using this but wasn’t a big fan of the scent. I’ve actually had this set in my stash for a really long time and have finally gotten around to using it. rating: **
20. Brighten Emulsion Skin Luminous (15ml / 0.5oz) thoughts: This was light weight and spreads really easily which I do like. Just like the softener it has the same scent which I’m not a big fan of. rating: **
21. Brighten Ampoule Essence Bio Luminous (5ml / 0.16oz) thoughts: This product was the least favourite out of the set for me. I found it to be thick and it had a scent that I didn’t like, which was similar to the other two products. rating: *
22. Moisture Skin Soft Peeling Gel (15ml / 0.5oz) thoughts: This smells amazing and I did find that it removed the dead skin well. But more so on the surface. This sample has actually lasted quite some time and I did use it twice a week. rating: ***
Overall: I’m not a big fan of the set, but I did enjoy using most of the products. It has also gotten me to think if I should introduce a softener into my routine again, to add a deeper level of hydration compared to an essence. This set is really old and everything that I have linked is based on new packagaing and names as well.
23. Davids Tea Candy Cane Crush (50g / 1.76oz) thoughts: This is my all time favourite winter tea. It has a way of soothing my soul. It has everything that reminds me of winter and xmas. Winter to me is all about them hot chocolate and candy canes (although I’m not a fan of eating them), but the red and white combination. This tea is just like how it’s described sweet and minty. It has white chocolate chips and crushed candy canes.  rating: ****
